I had an LP recording of this concerto 40 years ago. I listened to it often but never had much affection for it. This is the best of the three movements but the work is dull. Well crafted but unmemorable.

I really like the beginning of this piece - it reminds me of the passing of a funeral cortège. The whole movement is very appealing.

This movement is in my opinion the best of the concerto. I like it for its dark and mysterious mood. The outer sections are less convincing.
