Israel rejected "Christ" "The only acceptable sacrifice, God will "never"bend to Israel's rejection; temple sacrifices will never be acceptable "ever". Dan.9 24-27 Jerusalem rebuilt in troublesome times Neh4:16 "unto" Messiah, which was cut off (crucified) the (new) covenant confirmed for 1 week (a generation) in that generation sacrifices/oblations ceased, Jerusalem destroyed by prince (Cesar), flood makes it desolate til end (days) overspreading of temple is til Christ consumes/bound devil, EZ
Daniel 9:24-26 speaks about the appointed time of the Messiah. He had to come, be crucified and resurrect on the third day before the destruction of the Second Temple. It happened around 30 A.D. or 33 A.D. and later in 70 A.D, the Roman Army under General Titus smashed Jerusalem and destroyed the Second Temple in fulfillment of that prophecy.
Uh excuse me ... but where in the New Testament does it say that Israel will be restored as a nation? I does not.
The 70 weeks began with Cyrus decree. The 69th "week" ended when Jesus was Baptized (annointing of the Holy). Jesus ministered during the final "week" and was cut off in mid- week (3 1/2 yrs).
2016? He said "no man knows the day or the hour" but you know the month and the year?
I agree completely that the initial fulfillment was at the time of Nehemiah but there are often multiple fulfillments of scripture. (Example: Abomination of Desolation was fulfulled by Antiochus Epiphanes 168 BC, Titus 70 AD, and in the future by the antichrist) A previous fulfillment does not exclude a future fulfillment.
I assumed the Abomination of Desolation occured when the Temple was rebuilt, I keep getting conflicting reports. I think I need to look further into history. I have shamefully taken a shallow approach to end times like the majority of us.
The 70weeks in Daniel ='s 490 years, each week ='s 7years. We don't have to quess as to when the 70 weeks of years started. Nehemiah 2:1 is the start of the 70 weeks. Artaxerxes gave Nehemiah permission to restore the Jewish Holy City and the walls. The wall talked about that will be built in troubled times was during Nehemiah's rebuilding. It is not the wall Isreal is building at the present time.
Hi, nice to speak with you again. It is possible the time clock to finish prophecy started in 1967 when for the first time Israel regain control of thier Temple site. It may have been the fulfillment of the time of the gentiles. Since much prophecy centers around The Temple it just may be 1967 is a better date than 1948. The gentiles lost control of the Temple during the 1967 war. See Luke 21:4

27And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease...
seems unlikely the term is the feast day, and not a 7 year period as the remaining verses suggest 42 months is the midpoint of that period of time

I think you're adding too much speculation. The 70 weeks isn't even about His return. It's about Christ's birth and death.

@nirvanasnoogans Many of the prophecies of the Bible have dual fulfillments and this one is no exception.

Yeshua fullfilled the 69th week when he rode into Jerusalem on a donkey, Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD.
