I bought a Professional HD Canon Camcorder 6 months ago and it's been in the repair center 3 times already. They tried to charge me $1000 to repair it when the firewire port gave out. It's under WARRANTY. So I told the customer service rep: "I'm going to proceed to cost your company thousands of dollars in lost sales by telling my story in every Internet forum I can find."
Please!!! Help! me..i bay today...the canon XH A1s and i have 15 days..to change if i want...what do you think...is bether..thats one..or Sony FX1000....thanks a lot!!
Wow! Fucking awesome camera I love the high definition I can tell I'm not a professional did not took a course of this nor planning to have a job like it would be a hobby.
It will shoot in 60i, but I prefer 24 frames a second for a cinematic look. I think the 60 frames a second should look pretty good in slow mo... not sure though, as I've never tried. Next time I'm editing I'll check, and get back to you.
The focus of far and near separately is done on purpose, to focus the viewers eyes on what you want them to see. Of course the camera can do the entire field of view in focus, but that wasn't the intent of the test.
I think the inportant question is: having owned it for five months are you happy with it? I'm about to buy a new camera and i'm trying to decide between a Sony HVR Z5 and an XHA1s
With this camera you can set a focal adjustment whie under manual. If you set the camera to shutter priority you can focus on an object that is close. Then, when you're ready to focus on the background you push the button that had the other focal distance saved. When you do that the foreground goes out of focus and the background comes into focus. Hope that helps.
okay, it seems you know what you're doing. I use the aging XH A1. Do the differences with the "s" version really make a difference? I know of like the Compo In&out but is there better quality or something?
I think the major difference is that the "S" is compact, and also has the combo out feature. I haven't owned the A1, so other than that I'm not sure. Unless you have cash to burn, I wouldn't spend the money to upgrade to the A1S. If you're going to go, go big... XL H1A.
I already have an XL H1 AND the XH A1. XL's are a pain in the ass when actually trying to go for true cinematography. That's why I got the XH A1. I'm going to be getting a SGBlade, Cinevate Rods, and all em goodies that simply won't fit on XL's. the XH A1(s) is the exact same as XL H1 only in a smaller package thats also less expensive. I'm not upgrading to the "s" I'm BUILDING by XH A1.
heyyy there! im thinking of buying a canon xha1s also... but im having doubts because of my PC's capabilities in editing HD videos...
may i know the specifications of your computer? and... just incase... what editing software are you using? thank you and im really sorry for asking too many questions! =) good day!
You're biggest challenge in editing HD video is likely going to be hard drive space. If you have a decent computer from the last few years, you should be fine with the editing. If you're processor is slow, it will just take a LONG time to compile in the end. I'm using Adobe Premier CS4 to edit the video. I have a dual core 2.67GHZ machine, with 4MB of ram. My graphics cards are two Nvidia 8800GT's in an SLI configuration.

the canges of focus are automatic or you need to do by hand like on a reflex camera?

@gambit623 If he color corrected it it wouldn't be test footage.

@Dusseldorf77 in Vegas you can stretch out 60i footage and still maintain the clips integrity

how is it exactly that you do that, the very first thing, is it just focusing?
BrightKnight 2 years ago
you talking about how the back-ground was blurred and the leaf was clear, then how it reversed? Yep, its really good focus

do you recommend this for sporting events? football,baksetball,volleyball..since i'm looking to this camera as an upgrade for my busn.
version2media 2 years ago
YES! This camera is great because it's compact and light weight. If you are doing sports (like skate and snow also) get the wide angle adapter.
