THANK YOU! The video is very helpfull! At least for me, since I'm about to do this on my 66 Marz for the 1st time (by myself!)... Just one comment for oil mixing (at 4.09). Mixing 5W and 10W in equal amounts, would give you a little bit more than 7.5W. The actuall mix to get 7.5W, while mixing other W's would be:
Thank you so much! I'm picking up a bike with this fork tomorrow and I got kinda worried since it needed to be seviced. But now I'm just looking forward to the service. Very great and helpful videos! :)
i'm a little bit confused, cause on my fork the rc2 cartridge is at the right side (black cap) and at the end of the fork there is the red turning knob. You have ur turning knob at the left side, so you propably changed your cartridges but didnt changed your upper (red/black) caps, am i right?! so you see, a lil bit confusing :D
wow, cheers mate!! I have just bought a bike with these exact forks and was thinking of servicing them, have never done it before so this is literally the perfect video! AND YOU DO IT ONE HANDED!! awesome videos :D
@petejwill2650 you're too kind! I only did the maintenance videos for a laugh but they seem to be really popular. Hope it helps and thanks for subscribing!
glad it helped! I think it is 7.5 w for all marzocchi's but it's on the windwave website anyway. you can put thicker or thinner oil in to change the characteristics of the fork,... if you really wanted to. If you can't get 7.5 weight, get equal quantities of 5 and 10 w oil and mix them together for 7.5 w...your local motocross dealer is the best source..
If you have the right amount of sag when you sit on the bike and you don't bottom out the fork when riding, you don't need new springs, you are better off changing the oil and see how it is then.I'd contact your local marzocchi dealer if you need new springs as they will have the right stuff. Have fun!
I use ordinary grease. Oil is 7.5 weight , buy from a motorcross shop as it's much cheaper. Oil amounts are on the windwave website for all the forks. hope this helps
Don't know if Manitou Dorado's are the same. If the forks knock when riding then the bushings will be worn, if the headset is tight! There may be play whe the forks are not in use, this can be taken up with the oil film, as per the fox forks. You need to strip them and have a look.
ok thanks, its when i hold the front brake and rock them back and forth, I feel it near the seals. so i guess they need a strip down.
Do you know a website or somewhere where I can find out what oil i will need and how much i will need? I've had a look on google but im finding it hard.
Do have an idea on where I could get a spare compression adjuster for the bottom as the one on chain reaction says its for the 888 rc2x and i was wondering if that would work. Cheers.
Rugby doesn't matter, I'll be riding Glyncorrwg on Saturday enjoying the delights of the Skyline track, rather than watching a load of people run up and down a field chasing a pig's bladder...
Great video... funny enough i was watching your other vids when i saw this one... its a coincidence because im a welshman planning on changing the seals on my 66's this week!

Would you be able to do a video on how to change the bushings?
cheers
ESPFR 2 years ago
yes, but only when they need doing! I expect this will be never with Marzocchi's!
blumpher 2 years ago
Great vid, Would it be the same process with my 2004 Manitou Dorados?
Also, I have some play around the seals, does that mean new seals or new bushings?
cheers

have you ever changed the bushings? that would make a serious video
diisopropylamine 2 years ago
No...if you service them never a need to!
even if you don't service them, I've never seen any with worn bushings and a quick oil change normally does the trick
