Mr. Dinnigan, with his good-old-boy face and his clergiman-like dressing, is as first a mature musician and a magnificent guitarist. He possesses a truly "music oriented" technical skillness. For a further proof, listen how he masters and offers the BWV 1001 fugue.
If mt memory is correct this Bagatel was composed for and dedicated to Julian Bream, and Bream has so far been the only guitarist to play this piece at a level that reveals composer's musical intention(if this wacky words make any sense).
But Simon is getting close to it. If viewers take time looking for how other guitarists play this piece of music, two things become apparent. This piece is too difficult to play even for professional guitarists. And Julian Bream is a God-send guitarist.
I think he did the piece amazing, its not that hard of a piece to play, its not easy either, but look at Su Meng play it too and shes 18 years old... Simon Dinnigan is an amazing player. (period)
If you listen to Bream's earliest recordings of the work while following the score, he actually does some things quite differently than what is indicated, including leaving out a whole beat in the 3rd mvmnt., etc. I still love his interpretation, probably the most, but it's not a good idea to imitate it - too many have tried and failed.
I disagree that this piece is too hard. I have heard many good performances of this work. The level of playing these days is much higher than it used to be.
This piece has scrunched a few fingers in its time, don't underestimate it for a moment, but its a long way from being the hardest thing in the repertoire.
Nice sounding guitar; excellent acoustics; beautiful performance.

Are you kidding?
With all respect, Ana Vidovic is a talented young musician. But her Bagatelas are aweful compared to this.
