  • Bravo!

  • What a great sound you have! Could you please tell mewhat amp your guitar is going through? Also, does your godin have the rmc pickups? Cheers-

  • Or do you have to do this with your feet after you had preselected those on the four pedals in the gr-33 itself?

I was just wondering why my guitar does not change the patches using its switch selector. Like I said the electronics are the same on both guitars yours and mine. Maybe there is a particular global setting on the gr-33 that needs to be activated in order to make this feature to happen? Thanks for your time and feedback.

    Rey

  • @reygalindo - Hi Rey. Thanks. On the GR-33, go to SYSTEM, then select the S1/S2 function and change value to PATCH SELECT. That should do what you want.

  • Hi,

Your stuff sound wonderful. I just acquired both the NS1 by Carvin and a GR-33 unit. The NS1 has basically the same pick up as the Godin except for the additional preamp implemented which allows more of acoustic nylon string sound out of this instrument.

Any how what I wanted to ask you is the following. When you are using the gr-33, are you able to switch between patches of the same group by pushing the patch controls on your guitar?

  • what is a difference between gr-33 and gr-20,

i'm so confused about which one to go with,

can someone give advice, thank you,

    great organization and playing

  • Simply Cool !!!

  • greatttt vid m8!!! i'm looking forward the same gear, godin nylon multiac, rolland guitar synth and a boss RC-2.

could u tell me the chord progression you played there? it sounded soooo nice!

    tks ^^

  • Very nice!

  • I hate to say it, but it's probably me

  • question with your roland synths can you make some strings bass while leaving the regular sound of a guitar

  • You can only do that with the Roland GR-33, not with the GR-20.

  • @meganote And the GR-30 as well. Nice stuff!

  • This would go down well in a wine bar.

  • ♫ good job, man! ♪..

  • good job man

  • awesome dude, I use the Axon AX100 mkII for computer/midi recording/sequencing and recently started using the GR-33 live (less of a CC learning curve than the Axon). I love your use of the 2 synths and looper-sweet. By the way, I could not be happier with the Godin/RMC pickups for synth stuff-no glitching and super fast. Although the VG-99 has some strange higher harmonics going on with some patches, otherwise I completely recommend it also.

  • Thanks for the info I can now see ou your video that you are not using the VG99.

Great playing and looping keep it up!

  • I have been trying to get the vg 99 to work with the multiac steel but when plugged in you cannot access the guitar volume only the synth volume. I've contacted roland and godin about this. Pls do you have any advice,

    Thanks Prince Ola

  • I don't know about the vg99. But with my 2 other Roland synths there is a guitar out mapping in the synth. I just use the GK cable from the Godin. I have no problem using the volume control on the Godin to control the guitar volume. Hope you get it worked out.

  • Man that was some beautiful playing. I just pulled my GR-1 down from the attic. I'm gonna have to re-learn this thing but that was some nice inspiration.

  • nice synth playing! i'm using black acs slim aswell ^^ but why do you use the 2 synths?

i'm getting a roland gr-1 soon because i know someone selling it cheap

  • Thanks. I first got the GR-20. It had nice sounds but was not flexible as far as splitting sounds among strings. Next I picked up the older, but more capable, GR-33 (no longer manufactured). With it I can split bass on two low strings and other sounds on the rest; I use the GR-20 for additional pads and solo sounds. It's a good combo.

  • I've been to the store and asked for the gr-33, you're right about the non-being made anymore ^^ I think gr-1 has those options aswell ^^ as far as I can tell lol... I'm gonna need some help when I get it though, how to use other soundbanks/cards/synths in combo with the gr-1. One last question, what did you use to record this? I'm getting alot of problems trying to make a vid for youtube...

  • hey mega I looked into the setup... pretty kewl.... what synt are you using???/

  • I'm using a Roland RC-50 looper, Roland GR-33 and GR-20 synthesizers, and a Godin ACS Slim guitar. All music except for drum pattern is played live/then looped. Best regards, Allen.

  • I'm not familiar with the GR-1... have to check into it. The video was recorded with a Canon S1 Digital camera's movie mode. The sound is not so great on the built-in mic :(

  • that was frickin great.... I got a pretty good pedal set up with arc-2 at the end. But I was fartin around with various classicals with no satisfaction. I heard the godin slim is the way to go... then I found it has syn. what is the syn your conected to... a 13 pin?? what model is it... so I can do more research... I am totally sold on the guitar... Bruce aka muddman

  • Thanks Bruce. It's a Godin ACS Slim model. It has the 13 pin Roland GK connector for synth access. This sends a separate signal for each string to the synth. It also has controls for patch up and down and synth volume. It's basically a nylon string electric guitar.

  • I have one aswell, I love it

getting roland gr-1 after exams, can't wait!

  • You inspire me to pick up my fender roland ready and my gr 20. Thanks

  • wauw this rocks ;-)

  • thanks for the info and getting back to me so quick, it works just fine now.

  • nice job, i have the digitech jamman looper i'm having trouble running my gr-20 synth and getting the synth to loop also could you explain how you have your cables going from loop to synth to amp

  • Sure. Just run the GR-20 mono output into the looper input, then run the looper output into your amp. I actually go straight into a mixer and don't use a guitar amp. My setup is a little more complex because I use the GR-33 and GR-20, basically patching into each other using the guitar out and mix-in. Good luck.

  • Nice job. I'm interested in getting into looping as I'm tired of trying to organize bands. Been playing a long time but never looped. Any advice to a novice on getting loopy?

  • Thanks! I still consider myself a novice at looping... only been doing it about 6 months. The RC-50 is great. I set up each song as a drum pattern in the RC-50. You can also drive a drum machine with it, but let the looper drive the tempo. For each song I have to figure out where to start/end loops (i.e verse/chorus/bridge). The RC-50 lets you sample 3 phrases and it has a quantizing feature that keeps them in sync as long as you're fairly close on timing the pedal smash! Some songs are 1oop.

  • Thanks

  • Really great - the sound I love. I'm just thinking about the same setup (without the Loop-Station first). Which Godin are you playing?

    Good on you

    Claus

  • Thanks Claus. It's the Godin ACS Slim model. I really like it. It's basically a nylon- stringed electric guitar.

  • COOL ! You are really getting some great use from your guitar synth/looping rig.Allen you sound great man.I was getting ready for my gig tonight and that was perfect inspiration.Really great sound/playing.Keep those vids coming!

    Chris

  • Thanks Chris. I appreciate the kind words. I'm trying to get a grip on all the pedals and how I will actually use this in a gig. And of course I need to practice a lot more!
