  • wow sorta looks like a giant bunsen burner!

  • this is a very good bleeder event it is either a bosch burst or a burden slip causing and over pressurisation of the furnace and so opening the bleeder valves sometimes the ignite but mostly dont

  • This furnace has water sprays to control furnace top temperatures.

When used the water produces hydrogen which burns off when the bleeder valves are opened.

This is normal for this furnace.

  • this definitely isn't normal blast furnace behaviour, although it's not totally uncommon

it was explained to me as the burden forming a bridge in the furnace which prevents the gas from escaping, and when the bridge all of a sudden collapses then you get a big release of gas

  • nothing much actually, in the oven load tunneling occurs, this way de gas freelee flows upwards in the oven making the top pressure go skyhigh, the system auto opens the safetypressure valve and than this happenes, when the operator manually shuts the valve the spectacle is over.

    no damage too the oven

  • not exactly sure - you always get quite a flow of air going through a blast furnace, but it's supposed to have burnt all of the CO to CO2 by the time it leaves at the top

maybe a spark while charging may have ignited something ?

  • After a detailed examination of the footage my conclusion of the resulting event can only be determind by considering all the characterisitcs available. It fucked up and blasted out not in.

  • That's a sight! Could anyone please explain what's happening?
