  • @aplaf1 These guys didn't make country music famous. People like Roy Acuff, Bill Monroe, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, The Carter Family. These are some of the ones that made country famous. There are many things that go along with becoming a member of the Opry. It is not just the popularity or how many records the artist sells that does so.

  • This isnt country more or less a pop show with a sprinkling of true country stars to attact the real country fans. Its going the way of the DoDo no one who actually likes the real stuff would pay to see anyone there. Thats just my 2 cents.

  • to be honest i only clicked on this because i saw little jimmy dickens on it god that makes me mad!!!!!

  • What the hell is wrong with peoples ears, and why are the deleting videos with the GREATEST OF THEM ALL...........MR. WAYLON JENNINGS! NEW COUNTRY IS REALLY REALLY BAD !

  • The new Opry sucks. If the Opry is supposed to be a country show, then why hasn't Wayne Hancock played it yet?

  • @michaelwayneb Who is Wayne Hancock? That may have todo with it. I never heard of him.

  • I TOO, AM AN ICON!

  • The opry aint country anymore. . .

  • I love Opyy music as well! Bring it on!

  • Go, Opry Go!!! martinmary555 catch my video

  • t swift i luv you

  • johnny cash #1!!!, everybody has a bad day, johnny just let that alcohol get him that night, i believe the devil was trying to kill him but johnny still hung on!!!

  • WildAngelForever ... The fact is... Is that I believe Cash was re-instated back on the opry when he began to tape his ABC TV series from there in 1969-1971..

  • @buffettfan66 No the Johnny Cash show was taped at the Ryman, which happened to be taped at the same place the Opry was. He never was reinstated.

  • Im pissed off, they should not have put johnny cash in this video for the grand ole opry they Never reinstated him back on there after 40 years, idiots

  • Like someone said to me once, country music is the music from heaven.GREETINGS FROM CHIHUAHUA ,MEXICO

  • Country Music in Australia has headed the same way as the U.S. Country ballads are being replaced with songs that are more pop than country.

They don't go out and entertain in the country halls like the old timers did..... if it aint airconditioned and within driving distance of their city homes ... they don't do it.....

It is sad to see what it has become... it's all about the money .... not the people.

  • I think country is evolving. There is tradional and the contemporaryRight now the contemporary is popular

  • The Opry is well noted for the country stars, however in the past few years country is losing its touch. Country icons like Big & Rich, Taylor Swift - to name a couple, is so far from country.

Big & Rich is all noise, and Taylor Swift performing her songs based from her diary and geared for Teeny Bop Pop. When I think of country, artists like: Strait, Wynette, Cash, Jennings, Haggard, Lynn, Underwood, Rimes, etc comes to mind.

  • I love the Opry and I wish that they would televise the whole thing for those people who will never ever get to go to Nashville. I hope Tommy Emmanuel and Doyle Dykes play the Opry again soon.

  • The Opry is a magical place.

    Carrie Underwood totally rocks!!!!

  • Exactly my friend, you have hit the nail on the head, she is not country

  • If people think Taylor Swift sings country music then Carrie sure as hell sings country. Just because her music reaches a wider audience and has mainstream influences doesn't make her not country. The GOO is lucky to have someone like Carrie who's a genuine ambassador of country music as a whole.

  • I 100000% agree with you!!!!!!

  • First of all, I said: "Carrie Underwood totally rocks!!!!". Now, I never said she was country but since you don't think so, let me tell you she is country! But anyways, great music is great music regardless of teh genre!!!

  • The opry has always been the home of country music, unfortunately a lot of todays so called country stars do nothing to retain the status of the greatest country venue on earth, where has country music gone ?

  • I think Alan said it best:

    Nobody saw them running

    From 16th Avenue

    They never found the fingerprints

Or the weapon that was used

    But someone killed country music

Cut out its heart and soul

    They got away with murder

    Down on music row

  • For those who haven't...it's the best seats you can get! Also, the best acoustics anywhere! I

  • Opry should broadcast live online again in every shows

for oversee fans like me can be able to watch it

  • it broadcasts on the radio still that you can stream on the web :)

  • Hopefully I'll be able to go there one day!!!

It would be a dream come true.

  • thanks

  • I think the Opry needs to feature the legends besides the new "stars"! Other than that, a great vid; wish I could come back to the Opry! I love the Grand Ole Opry! FIVE stars!

  • This video makes me so happy! Nothing like the opry :)

  • The Opry needs to be back on TV and needs to feature new acts AS WELL as the legends like Bill Anderson!

  • I used to watch The Grand Ole Opry EVERY week on CMT Canada but they took it off! :'( I hope it'll come back on TV sometime soon!

  • when are they gonna put it back on tv?????

  • Hank Williams is the greatest country artist of all time and was kicked out of the opry. lame.

  • i wanna see the opry SO bad <3

  • I love the opry!

  • nothing like goin back to the classics... hope The Grand Ole Opry is ready to ring in the new year!
