  • definitely couldnt be a dude in an alien costume

  • This part of the film is a big mistake, was crying with laughter. In so far as the boy says in Portuguese "ta atrás da garagem, ta atras da garagem, it's behind! Who in Brazil mixes Portuguese with English? LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

  • This was the scariest part of the movie.

  • The movie would have sucked had it not been for this scene, this made me laugh hysterically

  • According to the Signs script the little boy is saying at 0:54 "It is behind the garage! It is behind the garage! Is behind!" when translated to English.

  • This was one of the best scenes of the movie. It carried with it such a sense of foreboding. The screaming kids was almost as ominous as seeing the actual alien,

    Nós falamos Português!!!

Since when do we speak Spanish?

  • vamonos? spanish brazilians...

  • well this sucked

  • This was just one of those movies you had to have seen in the movie theater to get a sense of how scary it was.

  • another underrated movie

  • 1:00 scareh stuffz ¬u¬

  • Can anybody tell me what the children are saying to the man behind the camera?

  • merill looks like eric lindros

  • if the air is so friggin humid in portugal, why doesn't the alien die? because it's a bad movie.

  • @Dolloozze you're gay

  • @Dolloozze probably because it's only the liquid that harms it, not the vapour in the air. Then again that means running through the cornfeild would sting like hell for the aliens.

  • @Dolloozze because portugal is not brazil

  • @jorgelo77 you just blew my mind. but my point still stands. they should have died there

  • how is this scary

  • ohhhh mai gawd hulk dint take steroids this time

  • Thy was the best part of the movie

  • why was there an alien walking around a public area in the first place... doesn't the stupid alien realize it can be seen? and gosh, if these guys are afraid of water so much, didn't they realize about 75% of the earth's surface is water?

  • @predlycon I think the alien was AWOL; he was having an existential moment and came to the realization that mass harvesting human beings is immoral and unethical, so he was fleeing and got totally lost. And to the second question: But humans are so delicious, it was worth the risk.

  • AHHH THE TREE MAN!!!

  • OH!

  • the alien as probably like

    "i want some cake bitches"

    *scares them by walking out*

    *children screams*

    "ha ha bitches!"

  • The boy is more like Portuguese than Brazilian. Separate the shit!

  • lmfao, his reaction at 1:05, sounded more like he was watching something else from Brazil ;-)

  • the alien was like : "damn this isn't near the chucky cheese isn't it?"

  • was that a young larry king?

  • This scene and the one with it on top of the barn at night were the scariest moments

  • this scene scared the crap out of me the first time i saw it and it still does from time to time lol

  • @katamari78 seriously, I know what you mean. :/

  • it's horrible this scene ! Diooooooooo

  • "it's behind!"- definitely portuguese

  • They're screaming because Swipper the Fox took their cake.

  • The alien was like

"Im sorry kids,I just cant do it! Im gonna have to leave it down to PedoBear

  • i thought it was funny until the alien came out and i jumped a lil bit.

  • Did you see the tits on that alien? Niiiiice.

  • @Mugzee1969 LMAO....cra-and-zy.... you need help....

  • This video could be more 'disturbing' if Obama was inserted at the end.

WARNING: "What you are about to see may disturb you."

    ¡Vamanos!

  • @joekiddone i agree with you. it would have been more disturbing if obama was inserted at the end. lol

  • I remember seeing this in the movie.....I think everybody and their moma yelled in the theater when that gotdamn alien...walked from behind those bushes lol.....some people did not like this movie...but as a grown man....I can honestly say it scared the shit out of me lol....maybe its because I really do believe in aliens...i believe this was shymalans last REALLY good movie....he's kinda lost right now...because his lastest movies suck....come on back shymalan you can do it!

  • @Blakmajik78 Im the same,if i did'nt believe in aliens I wouldent be so scared of this film.

  • This scene horrified me as a child, still kinda does

    *shivers*

  • Oh yeah, just done watching Signs, and I think this was the probably the scariest scene in the movie....

  • The startling footage we're about to show you was photograghed by a 42-year-old Romero Valadares. This video was taken yesterday afternoon at his son's 7th birthday in the city of Passo Fundo, Brazil. It was sent to the local news bureau there and sent to us via satellite just a few minutes ago. All initial opinions are this is genuine. What you are about to see may disturb you.

  • For my first time viewing this movie, this scene was the scariest thing I have ever seen on film. After analyzing it I still am unsure why it was so disturbing.

  • @Interplay1986 I think it's because, well - they're kids.

  • 1:01 hes hiding in the bush see him

  • vamo nos hahahhahaha ta atraz .. its behind hahaheuaehuahea

  • Most disturbing scene in movie history.

    No doubt. Very underated movie.

  • @444fourford well it did get a 6.9 on IMDB which is pretty good

  • I pooped a little.

  • I want my M4 carbine!

  • @El1t3HUNT3R13 yea those little kids are the future brazilian mercenaries in Modern Warfare 2

  • O moleque ta falando português depois fala em ingles.

  • Que Português mais fudido, esse Filme é muito bom mas essa cena ficou um lixo!

  • They haven't, the way the video rewind looks like a non-digital tape-based video camcorder (maybe a hi8, or VHS-C) which by 2002 would be a little bit old.

Couldn't help to answer that, sorry if I looked like a smart ass.

  • I deserve it for being an ass.

  • Best scene of any movie ever.

  • I fucking nearly shat myself when I first saw this scene.

  • Love his reaction <3 "OH SNAP ITS AN ALIEN GONNA EAT OUR HEADS OFF!!!" :D

  • o boy i cant wait for my nightmare

  • Chills, shivers, goosebumps, intensifying music...

I love this scene. Even if I have to change my underwear after every time I watch it.

  • I really LOVE this scene! Chills down my spine, every time I see it. 5/5

Check out my (funny) recut of this scene - If accepted, it's a video response to this video. Thanks for checking it out :-)

  • i saw this..i can tell you i never slept for a week

possumson the roof scared me for weeks

  • Ya i have to agree if i saw an alien walk in front of me i would be fucken tripping out hard core!

    And totally running like hell!

  • haha. move children, Vamanos! haha i was laughing at that part

  • The kids look so calm. I would of been freaking if that was outside my window.

  • Vamonos? Isn't that spanish? But those kids are from Brazil....

  • it's portuguese too.

  • God, that gave me the chills XD

  • this scene seems so real. scary

  • Great, great scene. Scenes like this give me hope for Shymalan to make a comeback...someday.

  • awesome scene and great music from James Newton Howard (KIng Kong, The Village, Blood Diamond, Defiance...)

  • very very well made scene! i sure fell for it!

  • Everybody did when this movie was released. It had everybody scared of aliens.

  • What a scene!

Even though the events are happening thousands of miles away from the viewer, television brings it into your house, into your personal space.

Phoenix is spot on with his reaction before and after the alien. He gets into the scene early on, talking to the T.V as if the kids can hear him. Like a sports fan he is living the moment with everyone. He may be alone but he is watching along with so many others across the globe.

In one moment in time, the world is scarred.

  • Is nice!

  • I literally jumped from my seat when I saw this scene in the theatre.

  • Chills on my back, everytime I see this scene. Brilliantly built-up.

  • This scene scared the living you know what out of me when I first saw it. I literally jumped in my seat and squeaked like a stupid girlie but heck, that was so creepy...

  • The kids didn't listen when he said Vamanos because they speak Portuguese in Brazil, not Spanish.

  • lol

  • Good point!

  • @PolskiCanuck the kids didnt listen, cos they were a recording on tv, and he talked to the tv, not them.

  • @ZachariahM1234 he was joking....

  • @PolskiCanuck Someone who speaks Spanish wouldn't listen to "vamanos" so much either, considering it's "vámOnos".

  • @PolskiCanuck nice observation

  • @PolskiCanuck lol seriously?

  • @PolskiCanuck

Or maybe because he was talking to, you know, a TV?

  • @balkthor Way to understand how humour works champ.

  • @PolskiCanuck :S how would the kids listen anyway its pre recorded, and hes talking to the tv.. haha

  • @PolskiCanuck hey its the same language portuguese has a lil bit of spanish in it ;)

  • @PolskiCanuck bonjor

  • @PolskiCanuck It's "vamonos" (:

  • O garoto, além de falar inglês, fala com um sotaque Português. Tsc tsc tsc.

  • The alien was just pissed cuz the cake was a lie.

  • And the poor cube had to die for it.

  • A fucking bad idea to have so much trees and plants and stuff to hide in. DAMMIT

  • i know, what would u seriousley do if u saw this in real life and knew it wasnt fake, but that it was a real alien?

  • looks like the black spiderman haha

  • I half expected the alien to wave as it walked by.

  • i still get goosebumps when i watch this, looks so damn real

  • If they're in Brazil, then how did the kid know English when he said "It's Behind"

  • its a movie douchebag

  • fiquei com muito medo na 1º vez que vi essa cena!

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • "Tá atrás da garagem! Tá atrás daí! IT'S BEHIND!!"

    Hahahaha!!

what frightened kid would scream "it's behind" in Brazil? [2]

  • first of all the newslady is hot and second..

haha the alien wanted some cake

  • fist time i saw this it scared the hell out of me!

  • nossa eu tenho tanto medo desse et que eu até me arrepio quando vejo essa cena

  • "Move, children! Vamanos!"

  • what frightened kid would scream "it's behind" in Brazil?

  • Yeah its a scary scene but it didn't cause more than shivers. The cornfield scene made me really jump.

  • This is probably my favorite scene in the movie. Its done so well, so realisticly. You get the sense this is what it would be like if something like this realy happened, a news report with grainy footage...the way the reporter says, "what ur about to see may disturb you.." if u were to hear that when watchin the news, the hairs on the back of ur neck wud stand up..

  • Merrill's (sp?) reaction cracks me up. :)

  • lol first time i saw this scene, i freaked... cuz i was in an all dark room, and i was staring at the screen in a daze... oh man that just freaked me out! lol.. now every time i see it, my hairs stand up... and i feel weird. XD

  • :D!!!!!!!!

  • Grandioso exelente escena!!!

  • Holy crap the first time I saw this movie was at night in a drive in, right next to a cornfield. HA

  • when i saw this it theaters it scared the living shit out of me. i was like 10

  • i was 16 and i seriously almost scream hehehe

  • The brazilian guy is called remero valadares, not a common name in Brazil, since the guys over here speak portuguese not spanish. and theres some woman that scream "Oh my God" (ai meu Deus) something common amongst scared brazilian women.

  • i hate that music it just makes my heart race faster and faster and faster

  • Same here with everyone buddy !!

  • Hehe, this scene is amazing. Its so short but still leaves such a phenominal impression of something that many ppl are unsure of to believe or not..

I still get the chills from this :x

  • i love joaquin's acting. he can do anything.

  • except rap lol

  • There's nothing particularly scary about an alien walking. But for some reason I nearly shat myself the first time I saw it. Creepy :(

  • I remember when I first watched this movie when my family, I was like, ten years old or so. I remember my mom screamed at this part, God rest her soul.

  • lol

    "move children!

    vamanos!"

  • What a tweeest!

  • This scene still makes me nauseous, I can't watch the whole thing.

  • yeah i know i fucking hate children, they suck

  • that is the funniest comment i have ever read lmao i was actually pissin myself laughin when i read that lol U R A GENIUS LOL

  • THE BEST SCENE!!!

    1000000/5

  • ROFL i am from a spanish speaking country, and i watched this movie at the cinema. We were all laughing at this scene, for the simple fact that the "brazilian" kids are speaking spanish mixed up with english, while they should be speaking portuguese XD. Why cant they hire a couple of brazilian actors? It shouldnt be that expensive at all :P

  • Well, as a Brazilian I can say with 100% of sure that the kids are speaking portuguese. The audible words for me are "cuidado", "ai meu Deus", "eu não acredito" and "tá atrás da garagem" which means, in order: "beware, oh my God, I don't believe, it's behind the garage". Even the city announced in the news, Passo Fundo, is a real city. The only strange thing is the kid saying "is behind".

  • I think they used actualy brazilians to speek. I'm from Brazil too and I heard the "is behind" part. They'll never say that...

  • i wanna c his new movie

    the happening

watch the trailer, it looks really good

  • hate to elt you down was really crap

  • I love this scene. James Newton Howard is incredibly good.

  • scared the shit out of me seriously, i wasnt the only one though. the whole cinema aufdience jumped up. best movie ever

  • Best line in the movie "Move childrin! Vamanos!"

  • that scene would have achieved perfection without the big jump in its music. That just cheapens the whole scare, it didnt need it

  • Arguably the best scene in the movie. It gave me chills like The Sixth Sense's "I see dead people" scene.

  • No argument about it... Easily the best scene.

  • i havent seen the movie, but i didnt find this clip scary. If id seen that on TV, i certainly wouldnt have had that freaked-out reaction that guy had... i would be like "whoa, what the?" but i wouldnt completely flip out like that.... who would?

  • Well, if you haven't seen the movie, then you don't really have any context to comment, do you?

It's all very well saying that a 90 second excerpt of a film (played within a web browser at 480 x 360 pixels with whatever speaker system you've got) didn't scare you... But it was never intended to be viewed this way, and in this context...

By the way, if you haven't seen the film I'd reccommend it... It's not great, but it is GOOD.

  • yeh, i do want to see it, but i thought id check out some random clips first :)

The thing i dont get is why his reaction is so over-the-top, but meh, probably in the context of the movie it will make more sense. The effects definitely look like 'genuine' vids of aliens we already have floating all over youtube... so thats a plus :)

  • Pff... nunca vi esse carro no brasil (i never see this car in brazil)... Esse ae é o filho do hulk, vejam seu lindo shorts (This guy is the sun of Hulk, see the beautiful t-shirts... Como pode um ET andando na rua de dia, ninguém viu, ninguém capturou(See the ET walking on the street in day, no one look, no one stop him)... OUMAIGAT(eles não são brasileiros nem aqui nem na china...)

  • I get chills every single time I watch this scene

  • seen during the movie at the cinema it's one of the scariest scenes of all!

    the music is great!

  • In my opinion this is the most scary scene in movie hisoty. Im 19 so i cant appreciate films like the Exorcist as much as people who saw it in the cinemas when it first came out but this is a masterpiece he dosent use blood or gory its pure terror catching the audience of guard.

  • Joaquin Phoenix is such a great actor; he pulls his reaction off perfectly.

  • Now what makes this scene so scary and so disturbing is the build up. It opens with children screaming and just chaos. And the music played a huge role in the scene as well. Then when you finally see the thing it exectues it perfectly with not only the people in the movie screaming, but the people in the theater screaming as well.

  • rsrsrsrs, de pause logo que o bichinho aparecer, depois busque pelo zoom, dá pra ver até o shorts que o cara usa, muito mal feito esse et.

  • Fora do país é brazil com "z"

    E não com "s"

O filme é Sinais, eu tenho o DVD xD

  • ahahah xD

the boy in the window speak in english at 00:58

    Behiiind!

    Brazilian?

  • o filme chama Sinais do diretor M. Night Shyamalan (o msm do O Sexto Sentido e A Vila)

  • Que filme é este ???????????????????

    otimo!!

  • nao.

    é brazil mesmo

  • damn scary!! I almost died first time I saw it..

    Well scene..Really scaryy!!!
