@mestizolove Because it lasts for 20-30 years. You can buy a $40 or $50 blender, but you'll need to replace it every few years, or much more often if you're doing green smoothies. When I started doing green smoothies, I had a 2 or 3-year old, $50 blender, and it died within a month. So you can either go cheap to save money for now, or you can invest in something that will last.
i put dead mice in my 5200, add some prune juice and i just love it (just jokin) i own a 5200, the best kitchen investment i have ever bought, fruit and veggie smoothies with coconut cream concentrate from tropical traditions is absolutely fantastic (skip the mice !! )
@wpc1013 Yes, they contain cyanide, but unless you're popping handfuls of seeds, it's not enough to cause any harm. I worry more about pesticides and other poisons the FDA says are safe.
For all of those people that think blending will destroy the fiber your all wrong. Blending the fruits and vegetables just breaks it done so it easier to digest but still contains the same amount of fiber as it did in the solid form. Juicing however does remove the pulp since they are designed to remove the natural juices from the fruits and veggies and tossing the pulp aside. Blending/juicing breaks done the foods at a cellular level allowing easier digestion easier on the gut.
You Dont Lose the fiber... If you juice it you lose the fiber, but not if you blend. What do you think happens in your digestive system. Your digestive system just doesnt have to do so much work....
Personally, I found that I missed eating regular fruits and veggies after using the vitamix for a couple of weeks. It sort of takes the joy and pleasure out of eating all the wonderful fruits and veggies. The other draw back is that you lose the fiber content when you pulverize fruits and veggies to a liquid. There are not too many other foods( other than grains) you can get fiber from. It is already hard enough to get enough fiber daily.
Why not do both? You do not lose the fiber when you put in the vitamix - in fact, that's why health specialists advise now to use a mixer like this instead of a juicer, which takes out all the pulp.
The Vitamix gives you vitamins, fiber and other phytonutrients. You'd have to eat a lot of fruit and veggies to
make up for what a drink can provide. So have a fresh peach once a day as well! But you're lucky you were able to get a Vitamix machine. Enjoy
why does anybody need a $500 blender?
