  • why is it that the shuffle the cards in thier hads so much

  • "I'm here with Randy Buehler"

  • Omg MTG coverage is So Good compared to any other TCG

  • I feel such a nerd for understanding everything that's going on. Oh come into play tapped tri-lands, so it gives three different types of mana and comes into play tapped. And I quit playing MTG 7 years ago..

  • @BrianWarner1996 Exactly, players at this level should really be able to do that... if this wasn't a top 8 match, I would consider it slowrolling.

  • I player same match (not finished) for 3 hours non-stop when i played with my friend (wich is new to this game). The only reason was that for his sake we didnt play with flying, and when i played against him later I owned him after 15 mins... AND WHY SO MUCH HATE FOR TOURRETS?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • Great game. I just hate it when people take so long to take a course of action when there is only one choice to make. If you want to think ahead then do it on your opponents turn to factor in their moves. When it is your turn you should already have all variables calculated with what is on the field and in your hand. But I am fast at this stuff so maybe that's just the way I look at it.

  • epic........

  • I'm kinda new to this game, can someone tell me why they keep doing seemingly useless card moving/shuffling to their hands?

  • @roflzroflz11256 When the players shuffle their cards around in their hand it helps them see various card combinations better by letting them evaluate single cards and pairs of cards as they get shuffled around. It also stops the opponent from keeping track of cards in your hand (this information is valuable for knowing how long a card has been in their hand, which lets pro players make educated guesses on what that cards might be) and also the shuffling is a mantra that helps thought processes

  • @HypoLast that's true. also, since most beginning player have a order in the way they hold their cards (first the lands, than spells in order of cmc) its ever easier( i notice this myself if i play against starters)

  • @roflzroflz11256 Those dudes answered it their MTG way, but the real reason is nervous energy.

When I'm losing I sometimes do the same thing.

I don't go crazy like that guy though.

@BrianWarner1996 My dad is like the best at chess, he's beaten grand masters and shit, but whenever he'd play with me he'd always take like fucking 10 minutes, annoyed the hell out of me. He's like that in all TBStrategy games.

But my point is that maybe there's a reason for it, considering he was/is so good.

  • @roflzroflz11256 its so there not focusing on one card to make it obvious that they have somthing that could counter the other player or is special in anyway.

  • @TimEddyHughes Yeah, because good deck building dictates whether or not you draw a land.

  • @cilersrealm

    It does.

  • @latoek

Oh, my bad. I didn't realize that there was no luck at all involved in playing Magic.

  • @cilersrealm

Never said there was no luck. Otherwise we're all as good as LSV but just unlucky. What mitigates luck is skill (both in play and deck construction) because after all luck is about odds and your skill will determine how you can stack those odds in your favor (do you have enough lands in your deck to make sure you hit most if not all of your land drops for example)

  • That little cough Coimbra does is the most annoying of all his ticks, dammit

  • 14:10 uhhm, wth?

  • @OxygenMcgee lmao I guess he was coughing or something.. that was fucked up

  • Lol more tick please

  • 'Topdecking' a good card is not simply luck; it's through good deckbuilding.

Drawing a card that can get you out of a tough spot is easy when you mainly play cards that will let you get yourself out of a tough spot, or put your opponent in a tough spot.

  • i hate how the camera sits on a face shot when all the big bombs are being played. so anticlimatic.

  • sloooooooooooooooooooooowest match ever

  • el tio de la derecha tiene un montón de ticks nerviosos madre mia >_<

  • I hated watching a person with so many ticks and twitches.

  • this is a t2 match?

  • @gnrfan4everaxl from 2009, yes

  • @gnrfan4everaxl it was until the M10 and Alara block rotated last year.

  • Magic?

THIS IS UGO TOWN MUTHA F*CKA!!!

    (lulz)

  • are jund and naya still being played today? I think they´re too good to let go! i got my jund deck coming soon, and i´m a little worried that it doesn´t see too much play today, am i right?

  • @pablito12sc It's not Standard anymore but you're good to go if you play Extended and Legacy.

  • @pablito12sc these versions aren't played anymore because they aren't in standard anymore, although jund is still played in extended

  • @frootinator so is naya

  • @vampirelord1892 well, my point came across, right?

  • Can someone please teach WotC how to videotape their own tournaments.

  • Wtf, why do they always stay focused on faces for an hour whenever epic things happen?? :'(

  • Great match, great decks, great players, just amazing match, awesome quality, awesome comments, everything awesome, and of course, PORTUGAL SEMPRE, somos os melhores.

  • Why are they doing all these tricks with their cards? Can someone enlighten me? It becomes stressful to see them do that.

  • @Yannoushka If your opponent has a card to do something with cards in your hand they dony have any clue as to what card they're pulling.

  • @Yannoushka Plus a butt load of ADD!!!

  • @Yannoushka Nerves the kind of pressure you are under at the worlds level is unreal. Nervous fidgeting.

  • In soviet russia, magic the gathering plays you

  • insane rips

  • I've been playing this game for 10 years and I though sometimes I get annoyed becuase cards are always going out of type 2, I have to say that I really love this game!

  • reitbauer looks like he was in for a beating if he didn't win.

  • conmbra à trop de tics c'est un truc de fou

  • i never really got why the pros spaz out there hands with the card shuffling like they got parkinsons or something

  • needs moar damnation.... solution against topdecking... ohh wait... extendedddddd

  • it's said coo-eem-bruh!

  • w italy

  • @bagottal viva l'italia :)

  • Does anybody know if these videos ever go on tv? That would be awesome =D

  • @roy852 why would that be awesome, you can watch it every day every time you want on youtube. havent you noticed that tv sucks ass and internet is so much better? you don't need tv anymore you can watch everything you want on your computer aswell

  • @roy852 They did @ one time on ESPN...

  • @roy852 They used to on MTV 2.

  • I don't understand why people just don't use anathemancer, even if the card falls within the mana base...

  • why do they shuffle the cards in their hand nonstop?

  • @moosesmokespot

To give less information about what cards they are holding in their hands. It's harder to guess did your played card came from your hand or from top of you deck if you shuffle your hand all the time. Also, sometimes you might notice some great not-so-obvious play just because you look at your hand in a different order. One might argue that is such a minor advantage, but at pro level every little thing you do might make the difference. Personally, I find it relaxing thing to do.

  • @ladiesman2048 That makes alot of sense. I am shocked someone with the name "ladiesman" was so polite and knowledgeable :)

  • @moosesmokespot You've been fooled man! THE ACTUAL REASON for the constant shuffling is this: They can only remember every past 1 second.. so! if they've seen all cards they are holding, they have to re-shuffle them, 'cause they forgot everything that has happened in the last shuffle, which took about a second. And so a cycle is born. And the coughing is a highly skilled technique (known only by the best most awesomest players) to make your opponent thinks he's going to catch an illness!

  • @ladiesman2048 to be honest, from a few of the articles i've read from professionals and even talking to tournament players and from personal experience, the shuffling of cards in peoples hands is mostly a nervous tick that a lot of players pick up

  • Everyone knows that Jund is bullshit, and it's sad that most of the cards in it will cycle out soon. Wait...I mean, it's good that it's cycling out. :D

  • o look.... Jund.... im so surprised...

  • viva l'italia

  • Bloodbraid Elf into a spell. How hard was that to find? I'll quit playing and do something more worth while.

  • omg tards :D

  • What did the first bloodbraid elf cascade into?

  • a wolly thoctar

  • I'm so sick of Jund.

  • this is quite sad

  • Wow.

  • @dalexj arid mesa helps thin ur deck of land cards.. nub

  • @dafangstagangsta thinning your deck has actually been proven by the people at the MTG forums. One of the longtime members made a program that simulates 1,000,000 and had a set up that let him see the effectiveness of thinning the deck with fetchlands. It actually costs 4 mana before you are likely to even draw one extra card, and it doesn't happen until some absurdly late turn that no one ever gets to, like 30 something. Check the MTG forum/articles for the full explanation.

  • its also the deck thinning capabilities of it. Also, for landfall cards it can help too.

  • yes Jund finaly lost....fuck you Jund fuck you right in the ass

  • The foto impressions are cancer for the eyes oO

  • portugal won muahahhahaha

  • Alicabob God Bless You for these videos!

  • How is it that Andre didn't get a penalty for shuffling when he activated the fetch and then played Ranger of Eos. Seems to me the Judge staff was not enforcing rules.

  • @WickedDealer

So what exactly is the penalty that should have been called there?

  • insufficient shuffling, I've heard it happen to people before.

  • yeah but after the search for the land, there was the second search cause of the ranger, so y would they care if he shuffled after the fetch land if there is just a second search anyway??

  • Because who's to say he didn't somehow shuffle the in a way that let him topdeck the way he did. Where as if there was a second shuffle he could have very well lost.

  • you realize that after any shuffle during gameplay, the opponent has the option to shuffle the deck if they wish. Which makes your point really invalid.

  • @WickedDealer

Excuses, he won, and im glad he did, all he did was play a fetch and didnt waste time and played ranger to go searching, if you go back and watch, im pretty sure that the deck was cut/shuffled by David..... cmon man its a fair match and a very well played match

  • does Andre have tourettes?

  • I guess so.

  • yuuuk every week at FNM i always destroy naya lightsaber with my jund

  • Is it me or is Standard too thought out ahead of time? If they don't print an answer to my deck I would play this enviornment more often.

  • wow 13:35, BB elf topdeck...so lucky.....

  • A better block at the end would've been wolf token on Bloodbraid/Nacatl, tap Master to kill either Hierarch/Blocked swinger.

  • reitbuer couldn't handle the enormous creature spells of coimbra, even when being hit with blightning. He should of thought hemorrhage his ranger of eos so that their are no reinforcements from the deck. Plus Naya lightsaber's lands are not as slow as jund's plus the mana efficiency of the creatures

  • the right play by reitbuer from 10:00 to 10:10 was to play burst lightning the scute mob terminate the thoctar take 3

  • wwhy the fuk do they change their cards all the time? andre has 4 cards on his hand and he is shuffling them all the time lol

  • habit

its helps them think or handle stress

  • Because they feel cool doing it.

  • GG.

  • wotc needs to work on their videos , we dont care about a marble on card...while a pulse is being played.

    thx for the vids!

  • -1: hehe I guess someone cares about the marble =D

  • i find it funny u guys can make fun of combra but hes a world champion an what r u some scrub ass bitches an andre would beat all of us so lay off hes a really good player (who top decks like a mother fucker)

  • coimbra is so annoying to watch with all the ticks and the coughing, but he can top deck with the best of them.

i'm curious about the masters in the jund deck. they never really seemed to help.

  • @moldyjones81 masters helps when hes down on lands like mountains( hint: weakness of jund, no red = no creature removal) and a great combo with oran rief

  • @JtodC

    *cough* pulse *cough*

  • @sevenbone7

Only three pulse, when lightsaber has like 7 different creatures, and ranger of eos can get the efficient creatures for back up when hit with semi mass removal like pulse

  • it's so intense!

  • I hear topdecking is good in this format...

  • @StoneThrowingDevil Topdecking is easy if every card in your deck can win the game by itself.

  • i hoping to take this artifact deck to a couple tournaments and raising my rank on my DCI so i can get to the worlds, first things first though, i still need to pick up a tezzeret

  • OMFG that cough makes me RAGE!!!

    STOP COUGHING GOD DAMN IT.

  • I'm here with Randy Buehler, erm um I am randy buehler with Brian David Marshall LMAO.

  • 10:00david made a huge mistake ...

was tapping for burst lightning and to scute mob and maesltrom to the toocthar and then +1from the garruck to untapping 2 lands and end turn.. the next turn u may let the ranger hits u or play the terminate but u if play the terminate u will have no spells to deal with the baneslayer.. so u let the ranger hits u , doesnt matter if he kills u withe lightning ..and the next turn u have the field almost clear

  • that is a good call i watched this like 3 times and not picked that out yet good thinking

  • lol Randy..2 seconds in and already messing it up.

    Thanks for the upload!

  • Yeah he really is the worst heh.

  • who?

  • Randy

  • i like him.. too bad hes leaving
