  • this is AWESOME!!!

  • Oh yeeeeaaaaahhh.

  • the singer on this song and album is named dmitri

  • thats because it isnt greg :D

  • it's not greg

  • sounds like "king crimson meets napalm death" cool!

  • Fkn awesome song

  • makes me wanna fuck and kill at the same time,.. and spend some money on 3.world countrys of course..

  • I smell that whore.

  • Completely mindfuqd. This song is way too good.

  • Not funny troll is not funny.

  • wow, your comment isnt even witty or anything. we dont really need to know about your close minded opinion; you know no one really gives a shit. go listen to the music you like, and stop wasting your time. pussy

  • wow this is allucinating...the signer looks mad LOL its fucking hard play at guitar =O

  • wow.. pretty insane =)

  • i can't believe this in standard guitar tuning, it's so deep!

  • indeed...the musicians are amazing...i think the drummer is pretty impressive aswell

  • DEP 4 lif3!

  • Holy shit, this is fucking insane.

  • lol, i was looking through the comments with my friend, and he thought you misspelled 'DEEP' lol, yeah, i like the first two albums, but i couldn't get used to the new one,

  • I used to have this cd when i was like 13 14 fucking brutal.

  • i met someone who said this band was not as good as other mathcore artists (like norma jean) and i told him, as good as those artists are, there would be none of them, or even the music style without these guys

  • not nescesarily true (think i spelled that wrong) coalesce, botch, and converge have been doing this kind of music before DEP.

  • Actually this style wouldn't exist if it wasn't for Slint, Don Caballero, and Nomeansno...but these guys, coalesce, and converge are certainly skilled practitioners

  • Slint doesn't really come off as very mathy to me...

I mean, they were complex, but in a different way.

  • My favourite Dillinger song.

  • The technical prowess of this band is quite staggering. They play technical hardcore/grind with the proficiency of someone like Miles Davis. It's rather sad that their music has gone to shit.

  • cudnt of sed it better bro

  • I would disagree with both of you.. I rather think it has loads of melody. This reflects a new era, not really understood by everyone.. as it was once metal when it was introduced. I think they are absolutelly brilliant!

  • I agree with you. I feel as it went down after this album.

  • i dunno, i'm pretty happy that they've almost said 'right, we're ready to move on to something else now' instead of just playing the same stuff over n over and slowly getting worse as ideas run out. calculating infinity is all the brutal insanity i need from them.

  • and break it

  • bring me a brick

  • Take my bottle

  • Bring me back.

  • If you like this but want more melody, Sikth have since disbanded but they will hit that spot. Each dillinger album has been masterful in it's own way, this is the pinnacle of bruising tech metal/progressive hardcore but anything they set their minds too...

  • whats with the 2 mins of silence at the end?

  • it enables the user to upload at a higher quality since it lowers the average bitrate of the entire video. youtube allows 350 kbs so the vid could be higher than that. say 400 kbs. then add a few minutes of nothingness at the end(5 kbs or so) to bring back down the average, and voila, you just surpassed youtubes shit filter.

  • oh my god, actual good information in a youtube comment, im floored. thank you for that chiz

btw, thats genius to do that for the bit rate

  • haha definitely moshing music

  • Best DEP album ! .

  • who the fuck needs melody, it sounds nice and grimy... go listen to some of their pop, stay away from the old shit... bitch

  • "who the fuck needs melody"

the pitying joy that your comment has brought me =]

  • I dig the technicality that the instruments have and everything, but if the vocalist had a little melody to go with the rest of the song, it might not make me cringe when I listen to it.

  • Dimitri left the band after this record (Calculating Infinity), you might enjoy some of DEP's newer stuff.

  • Alright, I will be sure to check it out.

  • agreed. he cant sing at all... or scream for that matter.

  • you miss the point of this kind of music its pure frustration melody would bluntin the blade you have to be angry and/or frustrated to relate to it like stringsofgrind obvisly is

  • Do you think this stuff is supposed to sound pretty? I don't think so, and I think Dimitri's vocals are the perfect addition to the intensity of DEP.

  • You understanding nothing about this, nothing.

  • Calculating infinity....great album. After this album, I stopped listening to them for some reason.

  • Chill out everybody this is the dillinger escape plan, if you click on the link of this vid is becuz you`ll like what you listen, these guys created a so uniqe music style i love all the anger, and frustration that can be heared through this song

  • lol listening to angy music, i look at the comments, and i see really pissed off comments. LOL

  • luv this cd track 2 hellz yeh

  • this is pretty intense...

  • This has broken the fine line between music and pure frustration in perfectly calculated audio form. Why can't they write music like this anymore?

  • lol i'm the 46,410 viewer

  • im 46,420 lol

  • Lol im 36597

  • You're a fucking idiot. How can you have a lower number after they watched it.

  • Typo. Chill out buddy.

  • you're a fucking faggot. ever hear of a typo? that's probably what this is. blow me.

  • lol im the 46000th view

  • I just uploaded the instrumental version. Enjoy, good peoples of Youtube..

  • my friend sean is going to their concert :]]

  • well fuck sean

  • umm ok?

  • fuck yeah!

  • How in the fuck was this music made by human beings? Still slays after almost a decade.

  • WHat time sig is this?! 22/7?!

    Freaking SWEET!

  • I don't know, but it's fucking crazy

  • I just found a tab, according to which it goes

    1/4 1/8 8/8 2/4 8/8 2/4 8/8 9/8 8/8 2/4 just in the intro alone!

  • IT'S OVER NINE-THOUSAAAAAAND!

  • Touche, Sir.

  • Dude, your my new hero!

I havent seen anyone make a nine thousand comment in quite a while, Thank you!

  • It's in 4/Awesome time.

  • Jesus Christ I was kidding. I was making a joke because it's a good song. If you're that thick to not realize i was making a joke, die.

  • Hahahahaha...

  • calm down

  • you can search google for the instrumental version of this song.. they released it way back when looking for a singer

  • The music is fucking sick. But I can not stand those vocals. I hate when vocals kill the music, esp the music is this technical and good!

  • I like this band alot and I wanna buy an album. Which should I get first.

  • this one is the pinnacle of dillinger. pick it up and protect your eyes because it might just BLOW THEM OUT! AAAAAAAAHHHHH!

  • they're so fucking amazing, i'm going to see them thrith time in july:)

  • I've been listening to this song since 2000 and I never knew who wrote it nor the name of the song (i was given a ton of mp3 from my cousin).

    THANK YOU YOUTUBE!!

  • Havok that must feel weird to finally know who did it, if you've been listening for that long.

  • My head is spinning at the complexity of this songs time signature. i dont love them but they sound cool

  • i lost this cd :(

  • fuckin craziest song on the album

  • the clean guitar part is too sick man, im gonna learn this..or atleast give it a shot :)

  • Ha, I spent about an hour today listening to Placebo (!) and now this... FUCK YEAH! I feel so much angrier!

  • right about 1:20 seconds in when i saw this live i had split my thumb open from smashing my hand on the barrier in an intense rage that only DEP and converge can ever get out of me

  • This is insane.

The best kind of insane! = D

    Well, right after Sikth. XD

  • yeah man, was so gutted sikth split up...got to see them 5 times before they did though! amazing

  • I smell that whore!

    WOOO!

    Bring me back!

    Bring me a brick!

  • fuuuuck thats like adrenaline

  • it's mathcore. there's alot of dissonance and complex time signatures, which means yes, it does sound like "banging on instruments". dillinger are amazing :D

  • you're so trve dude ;)

  • This is a math-core masterpiece

  • damn that cover is awesome, simple and totally awesome

  • usually music draws my attention. this one made me zone out for a sec... in a good way though

  • Spit on yourself!

  • Spit on yourself, you're so beautiful!

  • What happened to this DEP? The new shit sucks!

  • its been done man. why would you want them to do the same shit again? even if you dont like the new stuff. its just a fucking amazing band progressing. i love the new stuff and the old stuff. but at least none of it's been a repeat. i hate the 'new stuff' naysayers.

  • I have to disagree. The band declined when they met Patton. Also, you have to respect that I don't care for the way they "progressed". They "progressed" in to a sound I don't much care for. Haven't you ever lost sight of a band you liked because they changed for the worse? All That Remains album Overcome... Sucks. Last two or three Avenged Sevenfold albums... suck.

  • Hardcore/Metalcore bands and similar stuff is becoming the new rock and roll and these bands I grew up with and grew to love are starting to sell out for dollars. Don't fool yourself. Listen to Unearth, Converge, Bane, they have managed to progress but not lose sight of their roots and still make money doing what they love.

  • Maybe they dont have as much money as Atreyu or some other band, but they have stayed true for a long fucking time, and I don't see them "changing" for money. I see their music progressing as a band through out the years. DEP sold out man, they sold out for a larger cut. END

  • whatever man, they still play old shit live. i'm not going to be pissed at a band and call them 'sell-outs' because all of their releases dont sound exactly the same, taking into account how many lineup changes they've had, 'sticking to their roots' as how you have put it, would be writing something honest and original thet they hadnt done before. when thier first shit came out it was different. to release something now that sounds the same would go against everething the first release stood for

  • never mind u missed my whole point.

  • yep. obviously i did. whatevs. are you straightedge or something? baaaa baaaaa

  • No, but obviously more educated than you. Specifically in the English, Grammar and Music scene department. All I was trying to say was they were math metal when I found then and that interested me. Now they are not math metal and I dont like the way they sound any more. I also think since the Mike Patton album there has been a decline in their creative process. Listen to The Mullet Burden, then listen to Panasonic Youth. You tell me....

  • Reminds me of Mukilteo Faries

  • greg is good also but patton is better, greg has better stage performance and presents tho

  • first opening riff is so awesome fucking desconstructed it's a mess playing such plans awesome

  • makes me wanna fuck and kill at the same time, and spend some money on 3th worl countrys of course

  • Fuck yes! Been some time since I heard this kicxk ass track! k peace

  • one of the best songs/albums ever. they dropped off hardcore after this... makes you want to quit playing entirely

  • Hell yeah I smell that whore too!

  • Ich Geruch, Hure

  • This song is fucking insane! It's awesome.

Can anyone suggest any other songs as cool as this one?

  • look up anything by horse. preferably new york city but i dont know you might not like them.

  • I HATE this singer

that's why I only own "Irony Is a Dead Scene"

    the music is good though.

  • Patton is amazing, but Greg will grow on you.

  • this isn't Greg though

  • Dimitri right?

  • yessir

  • I really like Matt Rudzinski's vocals from Killwhitneydead too.

  • guitarists are maniacs...!!!

  • along those lines

  • BTW can someone make a rapidshare or megaupload link to this cd? all the other ones have expired, because this is sooo classic.

  • hell yeah..reminds me of Don The Reader

  • these vocals are some of the most intense, breathtaking anger I've heard in a while, I love it. I don't like the new singer though.

  • how they did the arpegios part at 44 sec.

    its impossible.

the tab on ultimate-guitar is bad

    right?

    how they do that?

  • Same way they do the intro to sugar coated sour on guitar. They're nuts.

  • I love that when I make mathy dissonant songs and show them to people or make them listen to DEP, they cringe.

Nothing's wrong with tritone power chords and all that weird dissonant shit, it's fun and making people cringe is the best part.

  • i wanna hear some of your stuff

  • dont cry

  • this style is called mathcore right?

    its funny

they must count all the concert xD

  • albums called calculating infinity

    lol

  • i meant the style LOL

  • This band is yet another reason I'm proud to be from NJ.

  • Im gonna go out on a limb and say as a general statement, that most good music made in the 90's is in some way, a reaction to all the bad music that was produced in the 90's. Dillinger Escape Plan is a shining example of what happens when you give accomplished musicians a medium to express their anguish. It's a shame that they'll probably be overlooked in generations of musicians to come. Truly intense, musical, and original.

  • This song is so genius, it's insane.

  • what a fucking song...although when good dogs do bad things, and abe the cop, on par

  • Irony Is a Dead Scene is in my opinion the finest works by DEP.

  • Whoa! Mad =D

  • It's just you. Trust me.

  • Are you serious?

I think Ire Works is a fantastic piece of art.

Also, Greg is a terrific singer as always.

  • a piece of shit is a piece of shit, ire works is ire works. the only judgement of a piece of shit that all rational people can agree on is that it is a piece of shit, it's the same for ire works. a judgement is the mistake of an individual in thinking that their (nurtural) reaction to a piece of music is an intrinsic element of the piece itself. only a creationist could rationalize that music can be judged on an objective scale and creationists tend to have low IQs...

  • that was a reference to stebe1985's comment btw. i can't seem to get my responses to tab out of the left margin like other people can.

  • Currently, you have a -3 for the comment you left. And I, sadly, believe that most people either believed you equated Ire Works to a "piece of shit," or that they just didn't understand what you said. Perfectly worded, although seemingly wasted. Great retort, though.

  • ehhhh???

  • definitely you.

  • They can play real good and stuff, but the singer, ugh... just ugh...

  • the singers vocals are perfect for the chaotic song structure, anything else and it would be different.

  • I agree Dimitri almost sounds like he's in Pain- kind of reminds me of the anguish of Burzum. Although I am a Greg Puciato fan I feel that Dimitri was an intrinsic factor in this band's rise to amazingness

  • i know...i wish i could listen to just the music...not the singer.

  • download guitar pro, thats what i do to listen to this stuff haha

  • THIS SHIT IS SO DAMN ADDICTIVE.

  • This is interesting, technically. But I still prefer songs with melodies. I guess I'm closed-minded.

  • Melody is like so 1983. :)

  • According to Decibel Magazine, the opening breakdown is the 9th greatest metal riff of all time.

    Fuckin' wow.

  • punk core? what the fuck?

  • yeah man punk core... I think he means math core

  • hopefully.
