Just looking at learning this one myself. Mr Mayer seems to play this a semi tone up on the fret board but tune the guitar a semi tone down.(pain retune). It allows him to drop to open D with F# base. You can see him playing it on you tube.

Nice work. Thats very different, but I promise you, if you learn the thumb slap, it will give you such a boost on guitar skills!!! Its such a usefull skill to slap and flick at the same time. If you need help, check out needleman's youtube vid on it. THats how I learnt and I would recomend it to anyone! Good luck.

The song itself to learn takes some time. I did not really try to learn it. At first it was too challenging, so I learned some other songs to help. Try I will Follow You Into the Dark first. After learning that, just at least know how to do right hand thump slap/playing. I just use to practice it like 5 minutes before sleeping and one day it just came on, so don't really stress on it if you do not have time. Good voice by the way.
