then the rhythm makes a pause and there are two strokes as upbeat on the 6a and 6+. (you count 1a+2a+usw)

Then there is again the didumdidumdidum but with the di on the 1,2,3,4,5 and 6...

Selling out can be attributed to artists that cater to the mainstream, simplify their art in order for it to be easier to digest, or start doing things that have nothing to do with their art (or is antithetical) in order to promote the brand they have made for themselves. The Mars Volta have done none of these things.

Just because you don't like them/they get a grammy/RollingStone likes them - doesn't make them a sell out.
