Kathy Burke is probably one of the best actresses around - she can do anything. I had only seen her in comedy stuff but my God her performance here was unbelievable. The whole film is terrific; brutal but terrific.

This is a biographical film directed and written by Gary Oldman ( his real life sister Laila Morse stars in it too ) . I saw a interview with him and he said this was written about his childhood .

@jackstein104 Unfortunately, all those actors you mentioned (Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Jack Nicholson, and Tom Hanks) are getting old. They're still great actors, don't get me wrong! I'm just getting worried about a new wave of American actors, in which most just care about being famous. Nothing wrong on being famous, but they just focus on their career like that. I can only imagine how boring it might be if you play the same role every so often.

But you believe here sincerity in this scene when she says that - even for the high-rise: "I'd rather die then live any longer with you." Kathy is superb in this movie, and I still have a hard time watching this, as I am so used to her being the comedy sidekick to Harry Enfield...
