@EWS60008 Yeah, they were only out for a very limited time. I wish someone would make them in plastic too! I've tried recommending it to Walther's and Kato
I just started collecting so I have some questions... So first how much are those little people? Like a five pack of them. Second how much did the whole train cost? Thanks!
@TheAZJacob The people come in a variety of packs, quality, and cost. Typically, however, you can expect to pay about $15 for a pack of 5 hand painted figures. The train in this video is all brass. It was only offered for a very limited time from Overland Models Inc (OMI) and made by Anjin. My set is very expensive and has added features that make it even more expensive, like DCC and sound, and figures that I've put into it. If you would like to know the actual cost, please PM me.
I have great sound recordings of both the cabcar and the locomotive on my channel just find my channel and click on "Click HERE if you love great K5LAs
@welovetacos4 Yes, it came with all five cars and a loco. (Loco #452, 1 Business Class, 1 Coach/Cafe, 2 Coaches, and 1 Coach/Baggage/Cab Car). None of it had DCC or sound, and many of the cars had never been out of the boxes. I had DCC and sound professionally installed and new lights put in. All in all the entire thing set me back well over $3K
@welovetacos4 This is a super rare set that was made by Overland several years ago. It's all brass and I found it on ebay a couple of years back. I've only seen a few other cars ever come up on ebay again.
@dogrichmancat I'm not sure to be honest. This is an earlier video and the horn that was originally programmed onto the decoder was changed. This is a LokSound decoder, so it can be changed pretty easily, but I couldn't tell you which it is. Now its got LokSounds "K5LA" on it.
I found this set on ebay from Red Canyon Trains. Unfortunately it is a brass model from Overland and it is not made anymore. I saw this set and watched it for a long time before I purchased it. It was REALLY expensive, but the cool thing is that I don't know of anyone else who has the complete set like this.
If there is anyone else out there, please let me know!!!
Hey, thank you very much! I really love this set, but the brass loco is giving me a bit of a headache right now, which is why I haven't added any new videos. It's only putting out about half power, but the NMRA show is coming up soon, so I will hopefully find someone there who will do that kind of repair work on a brass loco, and then we'll be back to the mainline running!
Thanks, yeah this set is extremely hard to find. I found it by chance on ebay when I searched "Surfliner." Actually if you check "Brass Amtrak" you'll see 2 P42's in the stores section at the bottom called "Red Canyon Trains" and that is where I got this set. If there is anyone who could track another one down it would be them. Just email them and see what they can do. She'll tell you their hard to find, but express your interest and willingness to buy and she'll try to find something for you.
I actually had the decoder installed professionally since this is all brass, but I have an even better horn that I'm trying to load to it that I got from another guy here on YouTube! Should be really cool once it's all done! Have you seen the vids of the cab car leading? That's really cool because I have a sound decoder in the cab car as well!
yeah, but im still a kid, and i get 10 bucks a week. that doesnt add up very fast. lol. maybe when i have more experince and money! i will consider it though!
Yeah, just start saving. I'm only 21 and although I have been in this hobby since I was little, I just recently really got the money to spend on this stuff. Of course there's always birthdays and holidays!! If you're not ready to get DCC you can get a thing from Broadway Limited that let's you control sounds on a DC layout with their BlueLine locomotives. Go to broadway-limited dot com and check it out.
Thanks!! Yeah, these are OMI cars that I found on ebay, and I had been looking like crazy for Surfliner stuff, and sending emails to manufacturers to produce it, when I finally found this set! Thanks for watching.
O my gawd!!! You can sound the horn and bell when ever and alternate the ditchlighs when ever. This just blows my mind away!!!! 5 freaking stars on this one!!! Amazingly real, also sounds like it makes the thortal up and thortal down sounds. This is hard core to the bone!
Ha! Thank you! The ditch lights are set to start alternating when the horn is honked and then keep going for 3-5 seconds, I'm not sure exactly how long. And yes, this throttles up and down. It is a LokSound decoder that you can program any sounds you want into. Pretty cool huh!?
Yeah, and if you have an ebay account I have an excellent person to refer you to that will do the installation, and will program any sounds you want into the decoder! Plus, he's not too expensive either.
Ha, no worries, I was wondering what was with that! LOL!! Anyways, these are all made by Overland. They discontinued them, I'm not sure when they were released, but I found this whole set on ebay.
Yeah, they're all mine! This whole set is from OMI and it's all brass. The first brass that I will ever got. It was expensive, but as you can see, unique.
Funny thing is I've had a lot of people tell me that I should leave them in their boxes, but I say "It's a train, and it should be run. Just like a car." LOL!
Yeah, unfortunately they did discontinue it, but I found this one on ebay. The place that I got it from was run by a couple and they had no intention of ever selling it, but they needed to in order to fund other dreams. So keep an eye out cuz, you never know. I will too, and let you know if I find anything!
Actually it is an Overland locomotive with a LokSound decoder hardwired into it. The second loco (#450) seen behind this one in the other videos is an Athearn, and I have another athearn that has sound, but this one is all brass!
Oh yeah, forgot about that! Hey, you do know you can record sounds from the actual loco and upload it into the decoder, right? Message me to find out how, if you don't.
How much would you sell that train for? Do you know who might have another set, cuz I've been looking around for quite some time!
I'll be back at it tomorrow! Thanks for commenting and keep an eye out for more vids. Hopefully in the next week or so I'll have the sound decoder in the cab car! That should be cool!
Wow that was just a wow good vid :) :) !!!!!

Nice train, I take it that the Surfliner cars were limited editions? It would be nice if Atlas, Athearn or Kato would make a Surfliner set.
