I was at Mohawk Racetrack that night. It was Donato Hanover's 16th consecutive win, and he would go on to win 3 more races to stretch the streak to 19 before losing his final 2 career starts(a 2nd and a 3rd). He has to be considered one of the greatest trotters ever, particularly when compared to other 2 and 3 year olds. Of note, the then 2 year old pacer Somebeachsomewhere ran that same night as well, winning the Nassagaweya Stakes. The "Beach" won 20 of his 21 career starts.
