the whole red project is a business idea not a charity. only a small proportion of the associated profits go to fight aids etc. for example if you bought the red ipod nano $10 went to the charity part of the organisation.

in return the companies that are part of red use it to increase sales by convincing people they are making ethical purchases. for example red has made maybe ten million for real aid, translating to at least a hundred million dollars in hard profit for the companies.
