Wow, that last ladybug larva had the head of a regular ladybug, and the feet looked similar too : ) Maybe the tail gets used up in making the adult wings!
@Helioforge Good observations... you might be right. To me, the metamorphosis from larva to adult is still somewhat mysterious. That larva tail does seem to go away. Maybe the tail is an energy reserve or bag of protein for making new structures in the adult's body.
