If they did want to bring supplies to the strip they could just send it through the UN, or 3 passages in the borders with Israel, or though Egypt. 1st : because again, if it where truly a humanitarian act, then there where no terrorists on the ships, they wouldn't have attacked the soldiers, and none of the deaths would not occur.... so passing those boat as humanitarian is a lot of condescending.
2nd.. they had an option to dock at an harbor in Israel and send the "aid" to gaza by land (it's 1 hour to gaza by car) so if it wasn't a provocation, they would do that

This was a media stunt because they admitted their goal was to "break the blockade". If they did want to bring supplies to the strip they could just send it through the UN, or 3 passages in the borders with Israel, or though Egypt. They brought their knives and metal rods for the sole purpose of attacking the soldiers and creating the provocation they did. They obviously succeeded in that very much.

Why not bring it to Ashdod for inspection and then let it go to Gaza as was offered to these people before they tried to lynch the Israeli soldiers.
