@BandD1000 if you train them to use a litter tray - or else they would just crap everywhere. Ya would also need to make sure its high enough so they cant get out - they are escape artists lmao well mine are !
Where will you get the money for their vet bills? Just a word of warning, one day your ferret can be healthy as can be, the next day you may find yourself with a $2,000 vet bill and being asked if you want to put it to sleep. I kid you not, ferrets are expensive pets and heart breakers.
They are at that. For all the heart break that comes when you do have to put one down though i wouldn't go a day with out the smiles and love they bring into my life. The memories and absolute devotion during the time you have them in your life are an even trade imo.
I had a ferret for 7 years, he never got sick and the only vet bills were for his rabies vaccine every year which was not expensive. Not all ferrets are expensive :-P
He is drying himself off. Mien does that. They really don't have an odor, and like claire said, you can't wash them much or they get dry skin. I can hardly give mine a bath. Last thing, waht makes them smelly is their oil on their skin that is essential.
lolz my dog does that when i give her a bath.... i want a ferret but my dad says they stink really bad... and u have to give them a bath almost everyday... (thought i doubt that idk please sumone tell me ) thx!
the boys smell but the girls dont. if you get the boys castrated you can have there glands removed, then they dont smell. also you only need to bath them once a month or they end up with bad skin, but that might be just mine. x x
The don't stink if you clean their cages regularly, and you can only buy ferrets that are spayed and neutered and de scented, you have to have a breeders liscence to keep them if you don't want them spayed or Nuetered. And yes regular baths dry out there skin.
I actualy have a boy ferret, which doesn't stink at all... and they only need baths maybe once at month and not even that. they actualy smell worse after getting a bath cause there bodies are working harder to get there smell back. it also depends on what they eat... if there food happens to have fish in it that makes them smell worse to, usually chicken is the best. but it all just depends... just do some research it helps. and good luck trying to get a ferret they really are good pets. :)
Dude, I used to pet-sit for people with ferrets, and I want one so bad but we have cats which sucks.. but damn, they were brilliant little guys, and they didn't smell at all, I loved it.
i have 2 cats, and they get along with my ferret. they all play together and stuff. So you might want to consider getting one. having cats shouldn't be a problem though.
All animals smell bad, Humans, Ferrets, Rats, dogs, cats, etc. There are only certon animals you can actually bath without it ripping your face off and a ferret is fortunetly one of them. Unless you got one that really doesnt like water.
I see most of you didn't realize why she is doing that (and dogs too).
After having a bath she didn't smell like she has to (badly most of the times), so she has to rub to get the "natural smell" and get rid of the "artificial-clean".
Absolutely gorgeous, but shandy ( The Hob ) is scared of teh bath ( Typical bloke eh? )
The girls just love gettign in with me, but I like a hot bath and they wait till it gets cooler and they test the water first... Its so funny and sweet.
Ferrets bodysurf, very funny. Some of mine love baths, some of them detest them, thinking grr sod you Im all wet now. Then they spas out all together. Yes 7 ferrets freaking out in the bathroom.
awwwwwwwwww its so cute

Whats so crazy about what she does?
All ferrets dry themself that way.
I used to make a little game of it. Sewed up 3 old big towels so they could rub themselfs without rubbing against the carpet.
SMADdie86 2 years ago
Haha, my cat "swims" like that on the carpet, too. And she's so smart, knows to use the towel to get dry.

Actually, ferrets stink WORSE when they have a bath! They hardly smell at all normally, but when they're wet...
Think gremlins.
And not in the multiplying sense.

so liek ferrets smell bad?
ColeSprouseFan911911 3 years ago
Like, i guess you would have to give them a bath once in a while like any other animal you would have. (like cats, dogs, etc.)
AvatarXobsession 3 years ago
2 times a month
xpgek 3 years ago
I don't think so. And my dad who has a very sensitive nose to strong smells says he just noticed a smell, not a bad one.
The more often you give them a bath, the more they stink. I save my baths for when my ferret actually gets into mischief.
