If we dedicated half of federal government revenue for 2 years toward foreign debt then we would have no foreign debt. And unlike the SU we can grow ourselves out of any problem. The Canadian banking system is regulated. Didn't need a bailout, in fact Americans by the million are dumping their money north of the border. You know what their massive regulations are. You have to have a percentage of all deposits secured with tangible assets like buildings.

@Checkingokop Most of our debt is to our own federal bank. Less that 3 trill ion is in bonds from other nations. If we dedicated half of federal government revenue for 2 years toward foreign debt then we would have no foreign debt. And unlike the SU we can grow ourselves out of any problem. Simple business friendly tax and regulation policies would grow our GDP in the trillions. You should think first before you talk out of your ass.

@rrtodd95 Government is the reason we are in this mess. Government pushed bad loans. Democrats decided it was the american dream to own a house whether you could afford one or not. Freddie and Fannie(govt. banks) encouraged bad loans by buying them up. Banks did bad things as well but only after the govt forced the bad loans in the first place. Socialism makes the citizens slaves to government handouts. Socialist policies never work. Socialism is paying someone not to work and not to earn.

The Canadian banking system is regulated. Didn't need a bailout, in fact Americans by the million are dumping their money north of the border. You know what their massive regulations are. You have to have a percentage of all deposits secured with tangible assets like buildings.

I also remember horrible inflation, not to mention that Reagan wanted to make ketchup a vegetable for school lunches. The Velvet Revolution of which you speak didn't happen until 1989-90, after Reagan got out of office. In fact, Reagan put the Soviets on high alert for this very speech. Let me try to make sense of this.
