  • E.M.Skinner Opus 816 was designed specifically for symphonic use and specifically for Severance Hall. It was installed just before the hall’s opening on February 1931with 94-ranks and 6,025 pipes.

Skinner created unique voices that blend with and enhance the sound of an orchestra. He contoured instruments for concert halls around unison pitch rather than the vertical tonal design of the classic organ.

More at the Cleveland Orchestra website- I ran out of space and no links allowed here.

  • This most excellent instrument and the

player deserve much more attention. DF Kloss

  • @fastmotorcycle Mr. Wilson knows Skinner and so commands the expert design and also plays to the changes over time made to these magnificent instruments!

  • @fastmotorcycle I agree!! Have you Mr. Wilson's work with the Aoelian Skinner rebuilt in Atlanta? Not to compare with the subject instrument, but how much he made of and shared the strengths of it for all to enjoy? Special work there. <3

  • this is one of the most underrated organs in North America. The Cleveland Orchestra re-built this instrument with dignity and class

  • awesome!
