  • After several years I'm still astonished how many great songs the O.C. brought up. WOW!!

  • LOUegendary !!!!!!!!!!

  • Lou Barlow, this song of yours totally changed my life. I can't exprime myself...I want to thank you for that...so, Thank you, thank you very much.

  • Oh, this is so nice.

  • anybody know what the synth he was using?

  • comme le dit si bien " godlovesugly ", c'est vrai que cela me rappel Elliot Smith

  • lou barlow, il est tout simplement génial !!!!

  • Reminds me of Elliot smith somewhat

  • @godlovesugly208 I have this really cool Elliot Smith tribute album with Lou Barlow called "Elliott Smith ATP Tribute Show, 11-9-03" worth tracking down

  • Great song, its on the OC season 2.

  • Ohhh shit, really nice song !!!

  • Comment removed

  • his voice is awesome

  • Fantastic!!!! So sad and so fucking awesome... I found out it watching O.C. -3

  • Fox does not rock, but this song does. In fact, it rocks so much that it brought tears to my eyes. That's actually a high compliment.

  • pragmatika to agapo auto to tragoudi...

  • So emotional, every performance too! Lovin' it!

  • how could i do any thing but smile, reenact your legendary tragedy and do to me what has been done to you, is that the only point to all this misery, is there any reason i should cry. there is deep meaning in these words.

  • HEY. WHAT KIND OF SYNTH IS THAT?!?!?!?! ANSWER ME!

  • I love Lou and his wonderful voice, really awsome !!!!

  • plain simple masterpiece

  • i love this song!! absolute genius.

  • eh... nothing special.

  • RIP elliott

  • very nice Lou...

  • Lou Barlow's voice is damn fine.

  • sexy

  • loobie is sexy

  • I love him...

  • Does anybody know what that keyboard is that he's using?

  • @Ansilux its a moog, he tends to use them alot.

  • haha.. listen to the genre police below me..

  • Good music transcends the confines of genre my friend. Those who try to confine things are usually the ones who don't understand them.

  • its been a long time since i heard such a song an awesome balance of voice and music...and ofcourse the lyrics

  • Lou Barlow is such an underrated musician. He really doesn't get enough love, Emoh stands as one of the greatest Folk records ever and few bands can even compare to Sebadoh.

  • Goodbye Elliott ♥

  • Lou Barlow, Ryan Adams, Jeff Mangum, and Elliott Smith are the few singer/songwriters that consistently draw me to whatever emotions their songs contain, no matter what mood I'm in beforehand. There need to be more like this; but they're all so good, I guess it's asking too much.

  • look how emotional my emotions are

  • tis called choice

  • Aaand that's the point.

  • Wow, what a BEAUTIFUL voice! And what a great song! I'm going to get his record. Amazing guy!

  • wow it's a really good track. i like it so much..

the song was at the O.C., wasn't it?

  • yes it was! fantastic song

  • In fact it was.

  • Soo sad

  • this version is not as nice as the album one

  • Yeap, and its not the same lyric

  • July 17, 2009. Happy Birthday, Lou. You and I have the same birthday, but I have you beat by 4 years, though. I'm sure you don't mind, do you (heh-heh). I hope yours is enjoyable.

  • Does anyone know what mic effect Lou is using?

  • A small distortion effect with high tremelo

  • what's a wonderful song !!

  • look how emotional my emotions are

  • I LOVE SEBADOH!!!!!

  • I love Dinosaur Jr. They are one of my favorite bands, and as a bass player, Lou's playing has probably influenced me more than any other bassist I can think of. The strumming, the chords, the diatonics... it's all very agressive.

Then I was introduced to Sebadoh. It was like Dinosaur Jr all over for me; I love Sebadoh as much as Dinosaur Jr.

Today, they are still two of my top 5 favorite bands of all time.

Simply put: Thanks for the memories, Lou. You rock.

  • it's like soooo beautiful song

  • "fox rox" what show is this?

  • really awful song, it touched my soul and makes me feel a little bit touches inside

  • Sounds like Joseph Arthur's song, "In the Sun". I like it though.

  • cant describe how beautiful it sounds

  • the oc

  • anyone know what type of mic he is using?? the one to his right?? love this song.

  • this song is awesome

  • wow, I had only really listened to his earlier stuff until now, he's really become a lot more normal now, still great though.

  • that touched my inner guts in the best way possible. thx for the beautiful post!!

  • Amazing.

  • wow....it's so beautiful...

  • davvero bravo!questi sono artisti...non come in italia ke vanno avanti solo i raccomandati e si ascolta la solita musica pop-dance o quelle tamarratee napoletane!!

  • incredible.

  • simplemente hermosa

  • thank you...

  • i love this song!

  • i'd like to clarify, snow patrol are heavily 'influenced' by lou,not the other way round. i'm no fan of snow patrol.

  • Rather amazing to say the least. Truly shows Barlow's versatility as a musician.

  • he changed his lyrics a bit i think...but anyway, a good song

  • Yep Snow Patrol sure are influenced by Lou. Check out Reindeer Section (Snow Patrol side prject) for more obvious and unashamed Lou influences. In fact Reindeer Section was formed at a Lou Barlow gig

  • amen

  • Got some Sebadoh, but thanks anyway.

  • Fuck Snow Patrol, hard, with malice.

  • used to be good if you listen to songs for polar bears believe it or not, absolute shit now

  • I saw them in 1997 when they were still called Polar Bear. They were even worse than now.

  • Well Songs for Polar Bears was released after the name change to Snow Patrol, I love that cd, I havn't heard anything from the Polar Bear era and I havnt heard anything from them new that isn't depressingly commercialized, but it's all personal preference I guess. Obviously some people like it just like I like the old stuff, and some people dont, like you.

  • YES!!!

Yr so right - I rant and rave about these rip-off fannies pooping out 3rd rate copies of Lou Barlow songs. GRRRRR!!!!

    Fuck Poo Patrol.

  • andykaufmansghost only said that for the Indie Rock Medal of Honor, methinks.

    This is brilliant.

  • chanson magnifique qui passe d'ailleurs dans The OC

    quelqu'un connait la tablature ?

  • j'adore cette chanson elle me fait penser a The OC :)

  • Could Barlow be the Bizzaro Trent Reznor?

    Think about it...

  • I swear, I love everything Lou Barlow does. He is my musical savior.

  • ich liebe es!!!

  • i just don't get sick of this song..

  • You know... i really don't find this song that great... next to his stuff with Sebadoh or Dino Jr at least... i'm dissappointed.

  • wonderful song ..

  • GREAT SONG! but by the way... he must be really superhuman, playing the guitar AND the moog simultaneously ;)

  • or just able to own a loop pedal ;)

  • this song was in the o.c (: my favourite show :D i heard this song for first time in the o.c too :D

  • i really love this song. it's sad and very beautiful at the same time !

  • i think this is a tribute to elliot smith...who was one of lou's good friends in life.

  • It's about John Davis from The Folk Implosion

  • Lou Barlow saved my life!

  • i dont know what it is...but IT makes this song truly legendary!!!!

  • this is really a great video....love it!!!

  • Lou Barlow is truly great. Add him to the list of great artists who don't get enough recognition for their brilliance.

  • nice

  • looove it! i heard it on the oc

  • Jesus God! Lou Barlow was on the O.C.? That makes perfect sense. Just like him performing on Fox Rox. Anyway, I've been a devout Sebadoh fan since 91. I was 15 and first heard Weed Forestin. The Noise Pop show at the Great American the other night fucking killed. At 15 or 31 Lou still touches the same undying, unhealing sore. Thanks, Lou.

  • barlow = god

  • I first got into Lou Barlow in 94 with the "Bakesale" album. Been a huge fan ever since. This is my favorite song from EMOH. Brilliant!

  • wonderful song. The tears are starting to come in my eyes, when i think about this text and the emotions....its an unbelieveble song...

  • a truly great break up song

  • Lou Barlow is truly legendary like his song I've only knew about his music for about 2 yrs and its really good music. I'm reall not a big fan of this genre type of music I think he's a great fol, indie artist

  • That's cool, he's using like 2 microphones, one with that cool sound to it, don't know what its called though.
