  • Jimmy, thank you for this song, a fitting tribute to Ronnie and the man. He would be proud. Thanks for the memory of hearing and meeting you guys at our reunion. Chap and Dave are your biggest fans, don't get much better than that.

  • i want chords! XD

  • I thought i was Donnie singin this Ronnie's Song???

  • This is an AWSOME TRIBUTE !!

  • Nydelig!

  • I love this! But wow it pulls at my heart so much, makes me wanna cry! Ronnie was so awesome and this song is a great tribute, Jimmie ! I can't imagine being related to Ronnie and how much more painful his dying was on them because just being his fan is painful enough...

  • It'Not the best song I've ever heard, But I like ita LOT besause unlike a certain other family member, this dude shows respect to a great man, instead of feasting from the flesh of his bead bones.

I like the Rossington Collins guitar solo, a whole lot.

Best wishes to all the family.

  • Gosh he sounds so similar WOW <3 it!

  • Thanks Jimmie! The song you wrote says a lot to some of us who never got the farm cause we were the third or fourth son. stuff omitted . This gets us back to the present - the newer Van Zandt contributions, I feel, will rank with the other music tributes to our Southern existence that guide us in a "southern man don't need him around anyhow" or "hold on loosely" kinda way. The Van Zandt kind of Southern Rock takes us third-son-no-farm folks and inspire us to stand up and be free birds.

  • My father Bill Yarbrough was a good friend of all the vanzants and played with Jimmy in the band Impluse. By father passed on oct 29 2011. I made a memorial video for him. Lots of band pics. I hope someone sees this and can pass the news along. Im trying to get a hold of Jimmy and the whole family.

  • You can now download this song at cdbaby. Get just this song or the whole album.

  • i would sacrifice this hit (my new fav. song) to have ronnie back!. but yes jimmy you have the best voice today, and the closest 2 ronnie we've seen so far. keep it up, and if you need help takin' out the haters, give me a holler!!

  • i saw the band in 1975 or76 cant remember for sure in mobile ,al.3 bands in all,ted nugent, the atlanta rhythm section and skynard.tiket was like 6.80.those were the days.

  • One damn fine tribute to Ronnie! R.I.P. Brother your music lives on in a sweet melody!

  • @tjbigdog64 never be another Elvis or a rvz and the south lost to more of its sons but there music lives on.i think its OK for jimmy and johnny to sing the songs that Ronnie wrote but never to try to replace him no one can ever do that.RIP RVZ

  • THIS IS AWSOME!!!! I CAN HEAR!!!OH MAN JIMMIE GOT THAT SOUND!!!SOUNDS LIKE SKYNYRD!!!!

  • I saw him in Pittsburgh at the Civic Arena in August 1977.....No one can ever replace him !!!!

  • Darnit , missed him this past weekend at Earl's.

  • He played at a Van Inn I used to go to years ago. Midwest vans. They were great!!

  • Wow! People are right Jimmie Van Zant really does sound the most like the late Ronnie Van Zant. R. I. P. Ronnie Van Zant and all late Lynyrd Skynyrd Members.

    Thank you for posting this.

  • Wow, Thank You for a beautiful Song

  • play jesus some southern rock buddy,r.i.p. RONNIE VANZANT!!

  • I lived with Mr. and Mrs. Van Zant for 5 years. I really love them. Shannon says hey.

  • The Van Zant's own southern rock. I love damn skynryd.

  • I agree 100%. Van Zant was, is and probably will always be the GREATEST American born songwriter ever born. Somebody needs to make a biopic on his life. Oscar worthy material.

  • simply said.........RONNIE would be proud!

  • I was lucky enough to see THE JIMMY VAN ZANT BAND about 8years ago at Brainerd International Raceway during the NHRA nationals , ..... they played skynyrd to a T. ..they BLEW the crowd away! I was amazed at how much he sounded like Ronnie. My freinds & I will never forget that evening that we saw him LIVE.

  • sounds like a mixture of freebird and fall of the peacemakers.

  • Awesome song, Jimmie looks like Ronnie... where can i buy his music??

    curtislowe2003@aol.com

  • As they asked for a translation, here it is, keep in mind that as I posted it on my facebook page it was meant as an introduction to my fellow Italian friends: first I explained Jimmie's relationship with his cousins, then I explained that I had this disc since 1996,then I just confirmed that DNA in the family is more than good throughout. In Italy he is basically unknown and I was braggin' a little..

  • I had the opportunity to see the original band back in 1977 just before that dreaded october day.. I wept like a baby.. I came from a very small town in the northeast.. we were all farmers in good ol boys.. never in my life did I ever relate to a band as the way I related to the skynyrd band.. the 1 and only skynyrd band..

  • I grew up on Skynard and will always love them, Gods N Guns was the most wonderful tribute you could ever give your brother you sang perfectly!!! I absolutely loved it.......from a 70's child~

  • I love this song and I will ALWAYS love Lynard Skynard I was born in 1972 and grew up with Ronnie.......Rest in Peace my friend.........we will never forget!!!!! I want to say also I went to the Gods N Guns concert last year and you sing the music absolutely awesome.....thank you both for the memories.....love always Michelle <3

  • I LOVED RONNIE AND MY NICKNAME IS FREEBIRD, MY REAL NAME IS RHONDA RADETZKI. I POSTED PICS FROM 2 WEEKS AGO WHEN i JUST SAW .38 SPECIAL AND GOT DONNIE'S AUTOGRAPH ON MY WILD EYED SOUTHERN BOYS ALBUM. I WAS WEARING MY FREE BIRD T-SHIRT, TOO. KEEP DOIN WHAT YOU DO, PEOPLE LIKE ME LOVE YOU AND APPRECIATE YOU FOR KEEPING RONNIE'S SPIRIT ALIVE THROUGH YOUR PRESENCE AND YOUR LOVE AND RESPECT FOR THE BEST DAMNED SOUTHERN MAN WHO EVER PLAYED AND SANG A SOUTHERN SONG AND WAVED AN AMERICAN FLAG!

  • I met Jimmie through one of my best friends when Jimmie was heading up the Jacksonville Band way back when. Good bunch of guys back then - miss them days.

  • I dont mean any disrespect to any of the van zant brothers, or anyone who has posted for that matter. Only in my opinion Jimmie sounds more like Ronnie than either of his brothers. In saying that I'll also say I absolutely love Brickyard, one of jhonnies best songs, but I can hear Ronnie more through you than anyone...thank you

  • @koolaid6777 - i don't believe there's any disrespect...

    i tend to agree.

  • WyldFyre- none better, and the love and respect of the families comes through as the perfect undertone. The CLARITY of the vocals, making every word ever so clear is a boon to this piece of history. The love and respect are all that is left when one close to you passes on before you. Thank you for this brilliant piece of music which clarifies the loss that is still felt full-force even to this day.

  • @koolaid6777 i TOTALLY AGREE

  • @koolaid6777 So true he sounds the most like Ronnie (the greatest singer ever)

  • @koolaid6777 very nice, but he sounds nothing like Ronnie. But he has a wonderful voice, would like to hear more of him

  • Thanks Jimmie for making this song for us all to see Ronnie through your eyes.... The love you have for your cousin shines through in this in an AWESOME WAY !!!

I can hear him through your voice ....in places that gives me chills...............

    God Bless !!!!

  • R.I.P Ronnie van zant

  • good job when you sing from your soul like ronnie did, people were moved . you can do this if you try. and i see your doin good keep it up peace be with u. play some thing sweet 4 your home town.

  • great song jimmie!! R.I.P. ronnie will will never forget you or you music. southern rock forver!!!

  • Sorry I was just teasing some friends of mine on Facebook on where they could find Jimmie VanZant's Cd which I have had for more than 10 years, and I was giving them some background on him as they all claim to be Skynyrd's fans. Thanks for posting the video. Stefano(Steve)

    What?

  • @stefanodangiolo Translate for us please!

  • This song rocks! Good work Jimmy

  • gotta love them georgia peaches ...rock on !

  • @takenupspace Peaches ??? Look again ,wasted space you mean ,not taken, how about Jacksonville Florida !! Now you get it ??

  • October 20,1977...............The day real music died

  • @lyskynyrd00 it didnt die... it stumbled and those who still listen to real music, ronnie lives in each one of us, thus his spirit has never died.

  • Some of those notes sound just like Ronnie singing. Great song.

  • awesome song REST IN PEACE RONNIE

  • Nice song for an unforgettable Soul......

  • GREAT JOB..R.I.P. RONNIE.

  • this is a great song about a great man

  • Жаль что его больше нет.

Он сделал Lynyrd Skynyrd которых я просто обожаю!

Пускай ему небо будет тем пространством в котором летают только вольные птицы!!!
