As a weapons buff, I watched the whole parade. It was well choreographed, neat, orderly, had pace. The equipment, however, looked old, or is old designs. (could be brand new, don't matter, J 11's are Sukhoi Sk developments, that's a 70's airplane!)

But what surprises me most, are some of the commentaries. How can u be so impressed with a parade?!! The US is the biggest power in the world, by a huge margin, and it hasn't been able to defeat the Taliban. Don't give strength too much credit.

China has a superior ground force than the USA, but not technologically. Also, Taliban are not a problem for China because China has never aggressively attacked another country as the attacker. Other people attack China and they defend, but never attack as the aggressor. Peaceful people :)

Look what happened to the US in Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan. Or the Soviets in Afghanistan. Besides, China also has huge needs, of energy, food, materials, which make her vulnerable. We do not need a single parade to exhibit our miliray capabilities. Have you heard of the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds. They perform shows throughout the year. In addition, all branches of the military conduct small shows around the country.

If this show in China does well to boost the confidence of the leaders and people then good for them. All countries should be proud of their defense capabilities.
