  • Hey, Blade Runner, Akira, and Brazil called! They want their neo noir back! Just kiddin', I love this game.

  • GODDMAN THIS NEEDS A REMAKE OR RERELEASE

  • God, please bring this game back!!! I was 15 years old when this game came out and It has brought great memories. Can we get an android version of this???????

  • @sylent6 Just use a Sega CD emulator! Gawd!

  • narrator sounds like the Cybernetic Ghost of Christmas Past from the Future

  • Or we need an good Sega CD emulator...

  • @Bounty2223 What you mean with a good emulator? I played this using Fusion and it worked pretty nicely? Although I agree that a remake (possibly with new high resolution graphics, instead of just scaling & filtering the old ones) on current platforms like smartphones would be KICKASS.

  • @TheKillingCitrus I want to play Snatcher on my Android, not on my PC!

  • @Bounty2223 Ah yeah. Your messages obviously meant that but somehow I interpreted it in wrong way, sorry!

  • They have to port the game to Android and iOS!

  • An awesome intro, complete with an futuristic 80's jazz... Love it, and it always gonna be in my head... The golden age of Sega CD graphic adventure games

  • Man this game was so fucking cool, I wish Kojima would stop wasting his fucking time on metal gear and would start making new/interesting games again

  • Snatcher used to be safe, then it took an arrow to the knee.

  • When it gets to the jazz song i turn it all the way up at 12 at night to wake the neighbors up to tell them how good this game is. : - )

  • That dedication to cyberpunks is so silly but at the same time so cool.

  • lol man i loved this game growing up...i miss it.

  • those credits look like a cyberpunk Law & Order. i want to see that show so bad!

  • I love snatcher.

  • I'd love to see this on XBLA/PSN bundled with SD Snatcher.

  • Good Lord, that synth-horn is SO PIMP.

  • I'll take Snatcher over Bladerunner anyday.

  • I was 17 and my first girlfriend bouth me this gem for Christmas , I remember playing this on Christmas day and finished it in 2 weeks , I remember Having the light gun and loving not using it but needing it when a situation arose...Game was really a good impact on my life...now about that gf lmao

  • The best Sega CD game EVER!!! Loved the story, loved the characters, loved the music, loved everything!!! Too bad I don't have the game anymore...

But to be honest. I've always thought the US ver. voices were terrible than Japan's...but I was wrong. For this game, both were great!!! Loved the voices too!

  • @zoniken You can play it using an emulator, what's the problem?)

  • @jshowa5 Exactly, the Sega CD console wasn't the most popular of its time and the only Snatcher version that was translated to English was the Sega CD one, meaning the low sales and recognition of the game.

I don't understand why you took my comment so seriously, I only said that I would like to see a return of the franchise, it doesn't matter if it would be as a remake, a sequel to the first game or both, as long as they (Kojima and Konami) make them excellent games.

  • @jshowa5 Of course not, but I think that Snatcher deserved a sequel to the first game (its ending indeed suggest a second part that was never made).

I never said that I wanted 5 or more Snatcher games or something like that, that wouldn't be the best idea to revive the franchise. I would like a remake of the first one or/and the hypothetic sequel, no more than the neccesary.

PD: It seems that everyone here thinks that they are Junkers with all their crazy deductions LOL.

  • The Snatcher references were the best parts of MGS4 lol

  • It's a shame that he after forgot this project and get extremely focused in Metal Gear series, which it's a great one, but I that in my opinion is already too over overexploited and without its initial charm. But I don't blame him, because Snatcher passed very unnoticed and maybe it didn't get the sales and recognition that he was expecting.

I hope that he revives and continues this series, because it had a lot of potential that can make many other masterpieces.

  • @Sextus70 Well, to be fair Metal Gear 1 & 2 were exactly well known in the US until Metal Gear Solid came out. With enough effort put forth Snatcher has just as much potential to rise above its obscurity and be a big name franchise.

  • I recently finished this game and I can say that Kojima's reputation as a genius in the videogame industry is really well deserved.

The story, it's thrilling plot and the way how it's showed, the simple but very interactive and adictive gameplay, the music, all is a masterpiece very ahead of its time. This is one of the first games that succesfully introduced many cinematographic elements in a videogame, creating one of the best experiences of its type.

  • I'd pay 90 bucks on PSN only to play this, hell I would buy a new PS3 only to play this!

  • @Pelonxaz 90 bucks would probably get you a Genesis + Sega CD and a copy of the original game. lol

  • @Dant2142 NOT in Mexico :( location FAIL

  • I love this game! This is one game that defines the sega cd for what it can do. Kojima really needs to revisit Snatcher because I'm sick of MGS. More Snatcher and Policenauts will be cool or another original game

  • what an intro... hideo kojima WHAT A GENIUS

  • Kojima needs to quit fucking around with Metal Gear Solid for a change and do something with this franchise. It's too good of an IP to let go to waste. So much potential with a universe like this.

  • I never asked for this

  • @dadatsointsoin Wrong game. What a shame.

  • Ripped my sega cd copy and have been replaying this on my psp. Still one of the greatest gaming experiences out there

  • @viewtifuljoe99

PLZ TELL ME HOW U GOT THIS GAME ON UR PSP

  • @NIGELP520

Google how to make your model/firmware version into a custom firmware (practically any firmware can be made custom nowadays) and then put a Sega CD emulator on it. I use Picodrive personally. Then rip your copy of Snatcher and put it on the emulator and you're good to go!

  • One of the best Intro's ever!!

sidenote: See Policenauts Intro if you love this one, it's just as great or better!!

  • I have liked and Favorited this video not because Ive played the game but because after watching it, I want to......I want to so bad!

  • Wow! The opening music seemed to be from Dragonball Z! Hard to believe the CD failed... though the Nerd's video about does show us why...

  • haaaaa snatcher el unico juego que vale la pena en sega cd :D

  • Masterpiece

  • You know what would be a smart move? Steam to release this.

  • @pichicatero You know what would be even better/more likely? GOG releasing this.

  • one of the best games ever. i play it once a year.

i had an original copy back in the 90s.

Loved my Sega CD! it was awesome back then to have a best Final Fight port on it

Sega CD maybe was a failure but it had some cool games like Lunar, The Terminator, Sonic CD, Heart Of The Alien and many more!

I liked also all the FMV games like Night Trap.... it's pretty stupid but back then when i was 16 yers old it was cool to play that stuff

  • @alexshirli I do the same thing. "Well, it's about time for my annual playthrough of Snatcher." Each time, the year 1996 gets one year further in the past. This game is the only reason I held onto my Sega CD.

  • Nothing beats the 80's music <3

  • I'm......going now.......JAMIE!! ~salutes~

  • This looks cool.

  • Wow. Introduction looks like a 80's sci-fi movie :')

  • this was just one of many games that i've seen in those old EGM magazines that i've always wanted to play but never got the chance.

Note to Sega: IN SERIOUS NEED OF RE-RELEASE

  • @rsuriyop download the rom and play it on PC

  • terminator?

  • This game needs a re-release.......bad

  • So I've never played this game more than a few minutes. But let me guess its just like blade runner since it looks 100% a rip off of it. Gillian's a snatcher right?

  • @Clesarie play the game do find out...... your in for a surprise, not quite like blade runner

  • @RHCPx607 Im playing it right now and loving it. Its 100% rip off of the concept of blade runner and the enviorments however the events and places are different to a point. Its still pretty fucking bad ass. I don't see it being worth the 100+ its going for on ebay though. I'd totally pay $50 complete for it though.

  • @Clesarie this game has an apeal to me..... i wish they would make a sega cd collection XD

  • @Clesarie the story is also quite different, especially the plot near the end.

  • @Clesarie nope

  • Comment removed

  • they need to remake this game. not enough people played this

  • Its too bad the Sega CD didnt concentrate on releasing games like this from japan and instead gave us FMV Night Trap shit.....

  • So uhh, Kojima just tweeted some pictures of Snatcher for MSX2/PC-88. He's also been talking about Suda 51 alot.

  • @MrCadefulp Hideo Kojima + Suda 51 + working on Snatcher 2 = owrhawofgaigtarpoaragfaoidgaRFAOIGFAOFGAOFAGFAUIFGAFAFDGodYGFFgFODfjfGDofgFUIFFGOADGIPDG p...

  • I so want to see this released on the virtual console or Playstation Network!

  • the greatest game ever!

  • SNATCHER: Episode 2

you better not be fucking with me kojima, you know we want this ;-)

  • Very impressive! Truly ahead of it's time.

  • is there any chance Terminator movie has been inspired by Snatcher?

  • so isnt this blade runner the game?

  • Snatcher Episode 2 is in the Works

  • @CaptianPWN I'm guessing you saw the poster in Hard News too? :)

  • @kingt34 Nope. Was watching the Interview with the Mega64 Skit and saw the Poster Myself

  • every now and again, l dust off my Mega-CD and take another trip down to Neo Kobe City.

  • I keep getting a craving to play through this again! what a game!

  • 4:01 - Metal Gear

  • Best.

    Game.

    Ever.

  • One of the best games ever.

Another one would be BurnCycle on the Philips CDI - ace game

  • This whole intro has a greater feel to it than anything they spit out with their super detailed cinematics nowadays. I wish games still had that 'feel'...

  • the music is not bad for its time

  • This looks fantastic. I absolutely love cinematic adventures like this, and I just finished playing through Burn:Cycle on the Cd-i. Damn was that game good. Looks like this will be next on my "To-Play" list.

  • Who the hell made (in the game) those DAMN SNATCHERS?!

  • Could this be any more of a rip-off of Blade Runner and The Terminator?

  • @LegendaryBadass I know, but what can you expect from a cyberpunk game?

  • @LegendaryBadass More of a reference, fago. Your name is misleading, I deem you a fool!

  • @cloudstrife1256 the LBA is an original. You on the other hand...

  • @LegendaryBadass Sorry to say, but your not original bro. Gays have been around since the beginning of time.

  • @LegendaryBadass If you play it, you find that it is anything but. There are resemblances, but there are also elements of Invasion of the body snatchers.

Really great game. Played it a few years ago, and it was amazing. The only thing is, if you are using an emulator like me, you definitely need a game controller. Very hard to control without one, and near impossible during the shooting sequences.

  • If you're a Snatcher fan please check out my Youtube page for videos showing the progress on my 3D remake of Snatcher! JUNKERS UNITE!

  • 3:27 and the intro music starts

  • I don't know how or why, but games made before this current generation of consoles managed to draw me into their worlds effortlessly. If we can crack the code on how these games did it we may be able to save the world from eternal Call of Duty darkness. That's not say Call of Duty is bad, but it isn't what we need as a creative species.

    Kojima for President, btw.

  • God damn this has some beats

  • "Jamie!!"

    "What i can't hear you?"

"Get back in the kitchen *wink*"

  • This would make an awesome anime

  • Making assasination weapons!?No way!Their outta their mind! (Don't think I don't like it!I like all of that mr. Kojima made!Note:I know this and Metal gear.)I think Huey Emmerich took this idea to make Metal Gear Mk2.

  • I've always wanted to play this game for a long long time but never had the CD player for the Sega CD wow those are the days. Kojima is a mad genius.

  • I heard right? Lucifer Alpha! (the first letter of the alphabet - the beginning of all) ...

What may give rise to a virus kills all living things? Why is a virus called Lucifer means light that brought them. What the hell here honey our Moscow dragged. Kojima Satanist?

  • Does any one know where i can play this without buying an old mega CD?

  • LOL santa makes killer robots

  • 4:02 lol metal gear XD kojima always seemed to have a one track mind

  • @GarthMcCreery i noticed that too XD

  • DAT SAX

  • June 6 1996... WOW!

  • @NLS87 SOOOO ADVANCED!!

  • I gotta try this!

  • @deejayem91 This is in no way, shape or form an RPG of any kind. It's an extremely basic and outdated graphic adventure game from '88, with some bells and whistles added later and a shooting minigame that's used a handful of times throughout the entire game. And the story is a blatant copy of Blade Runner, Terminator and the Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

  • @sacrisesma

i agree.....but that's what makes snatcher such a good game, those good movies inspired probably the greatest sega cd ever

i can't see someone making a good video game based off the crappy movies in today's day and age, and this game shows how great blade runner, the 1st terminator, and body snatchers

shoot some folks probably would've missed out on those movies if weren't for the referencess in this game

also on a sad note....someone is planning to make more blade runner movies

  • could realy use a remake so that everyone could get a chance to play it

  • @AssaulteedOne You can play it in an emulator. Do you want any help?

  • @SirZemif I can get it working on an emulator, but it would just be nice if they were to remake it so that it could grab a broader audience then those that already know about it

  • @AssaulteedOne Well, on the bright side, it's declared freeware.

  • Snatcher is a better Bladerunner than Bladerunner.

  • @pappasman360 As much as I love Snatcher it will never live up to Blade Runner

  • June 6, 1996... A mysterious explosion destroys the Chernolton research facility near Moscow. Lucifer Alpha, a powerful biological weapon under secret development there, is realeased into the atmosphere, ensuring COMPLETE... GLOBAL... SATURATION!!!...

  • I love it :)

  • i so love this game made a remix of the main title theme

  • I got this on my hacked PSP GO. I love Snatcher. The intro music stays on my iPhone.

  • @1988SUPREME Emulation is for the poor

  • @TheNgamerz I guess. I mean. It's perfect emulation though. No flaws. Hell I run Snatcher (Sega CD) on my psp Go!

  • @1988SUPREME

How did u get it on your psp??

  • resident evil stole snatcher elements

  • Sweet damn, I need to play this game. That intro was fucking brilliant.

  • Ha, I got my copy at a pawn shop for less than 5 bucks - suckers.

  • terminator?

  • i have this on sega cd :D

havent played it in years, think i might dig out the sega

well a rom would be easier.

  • the most underrated game in history

  • hell it's terminators xD

  • So he has to become a smack addict to figure out what has happened in the past? That's pretty fucked up!

  • This game kicks ass!! it will never be lame. This is a must play game.

  • what is the name of saxophone theme

  • @CinemaworldandComics it's called One Night in Neo Cobe City

  • looks like Blade Runner :D

  • You looked, JUNKER!

  • This game gave me nightmares for years when I was a child. Went back and played it.....engaging game, even after all these years. :D

  • Mr Kojima needs to bring back Snatcher and Policenauts again. I'm getting tired of Metal Gear series now

  • Ha, I had this for my Sega CD. Loved it and I was very disappointed Policenauts never came to the US.

  • wow the music is awesome. and perhaps the best sound quality I ever heard on youtube.

  • june 6 1996,it,s almost like a clue wich refers to 666.

and guess what i bet that jun 6 1996 was not a great day.

  • @johneymute

I checked and nothing extreme happened on that day. It was no different than any other.

  • They have to make a port for different online platforms like the Virtual Console or something like that. To bad they never released this in Europe.

  • @JJarolsavv

It's more of a Blade Runner meets Terminator with some Invasion of the Body Snatchers thrown in mix inside of an anime land.

  • FUUUCK?! o.O KICK-ASS MUSIC!!!!!!!

  • omg this is so awesome for 2010. imagine it in 1988

  • @comedyman112 to be fair this is the Sega CD port (mid 90s)...still amazing for it's time yeah

  • I think this music is one of the best in the history of gaming... can somebody help me out, what's the title name of the intro song!

  • Dawn, I want a remake for PS3 or PSP or even Nintendo3DS, since there is already a Metal Gear on 3DS in development

  • @Gabrielvogel Games like this, are reason enough to never get rid of your Sega CD or Playstation, I sure hope they update this with HD graphics on Xbox Live Arcade or PS3. Even the music alone is worth re-sampling for today's pop-music or hip-hop culture. This also brings memories of Rise Of The Dragon, I have and only played the Sega CD version but it would be so awesome to have these classics titles remastered for current next-gen consoles. How could anyone not love these gems?

  • why isnt hideo making snatcher/ policenauts type games all the time... sigh

where story, characters, acting, and music... are king

  • @HarpoTheVillain Blaustein was in charge of the script and localization. Scott T. Hards (founder of HobbyLink Japan) was responsible for Snatcher's actual translation.

Neat sidenote though. Look at the second newspaper under the article titled "Plane crash death reach 557." Notice who the author is? :)

  • It seems that snatcher is the only anime game that has no water colored painted backgrounds. Just hand drawn and inked backgrounds.

  • terminator anyone?

  • @usarmy86 Ummm.....try Blade Runner.....

  • @littletone Try both. The Snatchers themselves are modeled after Terminators. Their eye color was even changed from red to green for the US release so as to help avoid a lawsuit.

  • Comment removed

  • Thank you! This was my favorite game!!!!!!

  • The Gillian/Jamie scenes are actually all new and added for the Sega CD version.

  • Man I really wish this game didnt cost like 300$....

  • @walkerctranger i found it in a place where they sell antiques costed 45 $ case and manual

  • one of the greatest adventure ever. it was simple and linear but its "òfalse" freedom was astounding. Kojima at its best. Way better than MGS2 and 4.

  • the 6 people who disliked this video must be snatchers

  • i like this intro tune to snatchers , even though it not the original

  • 6 snatchers have seen this video

  • Hideo Kojima...

  • 243 terminator anyone?
