  • They are such cool dogs; they are so loving. My dog is mixed with Golden retriever and he is so beautiful with the mixed red color. He stands from foot to head 3/2 feet and five-foot length. I’m 6 foot and if he stands up he can look me in the face.

I named him sha sha han, he was the king that built the Taj Mahal for his wife. I named him that because he is so big and loving. I call him Shaggy for short.

I take care of him and he takes care of me.

  • The thing is the Pyrs are so big and strong and have the potential to be very dangerous if they have mental scarring. most SPA's simply dont have the room or the means or even teh expertise in dealing wtih such massive dogs

  • so where are you finding these dogs? i have two dogs. a yellow lab/husky cross and a lab/great pyranees. both are rescues. the pyranees was a 6 mo old puppy starved with a chewed roped tied tight around his neck. had the husky cross 4 years and the pyranees 2 1/2. coulnt fing better more loving dogs. People who abuse animals should be horse whipped........

  • @calvinhobbescinnamon - Not horse whipped, because that is abusing a horse. But I totally understand what u mean. I rescued a Pyr too. PYR/pure white german shepard mix. Best dog ever. She is just so loving.

  • @krstnlhjt oh i dont believe in whipping horses. it's just a saying. my mom's ex boyfriend beat her horse with a 8' chunk of garden hose folded in half. when i found out i put him on the ground and boot fucked him (western canadian saying for kicking someone half to death with cowboy boots). i dont really approve of groups like PETA etc as i think they are nuts, but i do not stand for anyone who abuses animals. now...take someone who hurts an animal...buggy whip! yeah thats it...

  • @calvinhobbescinnamon Thanks for the clarification. Animal abuse is not acceptibl - glad to see u think that too

  • My husband and I just fell in love with the Pyrs and started researching them like crazy; we ended up rescueing a Pyr puppy in June and after being so ill from prior neglect and almost dying twice I am happy to say he has made a full recovery. He is now 6 months old and 60+ lbs! And just yesterday we adopted a 3 year old female Pur from very nice lady who is suffering from a severe heart condition and just cannot take care of her anymore. Pyrs are the greatest dogs ever!

  • @txwildflower45 God bless you. I have a Pyr too. she is 12 so I am trying to prepare myself for the inevitable. Enjoy your Pyrs

  • @txwildflower45 God bless u.

  • IMO,the problem 's rooted to the fact that the ones who first took them in just wanted them for some reason. like their initial reaction when they see a rare breed like a caucasian sheperd dog, a sarplanac or a dogo argentino and they go like: oh! i want some, oh! i want to get one like that! -but they end up regreting it and give up on the dog-if a person is not ready TO BE RESPONSIBLE OWNER.get a stuff toy and cuddle it, not dogs.

  • I rescued a wonderful Great Pyrenees named Gandolph nearly three years ago. His full name is, "Sir Gandolph the Magnificent", and he lives up to his name every day. The people at the shelter could not understand why he had been surrendered, and I'm so glad I was led to rescue him. In my opinion, the Pyr is the greatest of all the canine breeds. So long as I live, I shall always be a loving guardian and caretaker of a Pyr.

  • im adopting one of these tommarow they are GREAT dogs

  • If someone is considering adopting a Pyrenees-know that they are one of the most loving, loyal and beautiful dog breeds available, but they are incredibly independent minded and even stubborn. I couldn't imagine life without our Pyr, but I could imagine some people not prepared for the Pyr mindset being overwhelmed by their stubborn personalities. Talk to other Pyr owners and so some research on the breed before purchase/adoption.

  • @2000eelliott Yes, Pyrs are stubborn. However, that is really not a bad thing Pyrs love to be with you and love to be loved. Enjoy your Pyr

  • I've been seeing a lot of Pyrs on craigslist. I suspect many people don't do adequate research before getting a Pyr pup. As with most livestock guardian breeds, they have very specific requirements... and quirks. It's SO important to learn about a breed before you decide to get a dog. Make sure it's a good fit, and there's less chance of it ending up in rescue!

  • what happened to these dogs? they are soooo cute!

  • god bless all that help animals

  • pyrenees are the best...i have a ..pyrenees mastiff mix and she is sooo..smart...my brother inlaw has a pure breed pyrenees solid white...he is adorable and truely a gentle giant...he is 7 month old and is over 22 inch tall from the withers "sholders" down to his front paws and he weighes around 60 lbs :-) i agree do alot of home work here on the internet and talk to other pyrenees owners abought them befor adoping one....they do require lots of attention for sure and excersise

  • great pyrenees are awesome. i have one and she's sweet and caring and amazing.

  • We adopted our Pyr a couple months ago.. she is wonderful! The most sweet & loving dog.

  • I have 2, both rescued...A friend of mine seized one in Oklahoma from a man who broke both of the dogs knees cause he barked..My father, myself and one kind soul paid about 7000 for 2 new knees... He is now a 160 lbs of happy fur and can run with the other dogs.. The other I took from a farm in WV..Both are happy .They can roam all day in a large fenced in yard and run the farm. These dogs bark. Its their job.How someone could hurt such loyal and beautiful creatures is beyond me.

  • id take them all if i could

  • CALLMECRAZY69 dont be offended, Ok. That just means the resuce group is looking out for the Pyr;s best interest. Try again.

  • Great Pyrs are simply the best dogs.

I just got my Lucy (my 3rd Pyr in last 20 years) this past July 24, she is 1 1/2 y.o. and a sweetheart! I have never had to give heck for anything, she learns quickly and is so nice! A squirrel lives in my yard, I give him peanuts. Lucy ran after him the first 2 times she saw him. So I said "no, he's our friend!" The third time, she just watched while he ate his peanut beside me! She is funny, smart, loving etc... I love her and all Pyrs. Good Work Txprs!

  • i have a great pyrenees and she is one of the best dogs ever that have been in my life...her name is shiloh (and yes it's a girl)

  • thank you allfor what you do for this breed--my joy is 16 months old, about 105 pounds, very well-socialized,smart, active, but also very alpha. she is so much more than i expected in many ways, but alot of work. you really need to do your homework before adopting a giant-breed dog.

  • What monster could ever do this to a dog?

  • whatever the novelty never wears off great pyrenees are wonderful no matter what age

  • i have a gp mix and he was the first big dog i ever owned, i love him so much. if you cant take care of your dog then you dont need a dog at all. gp are the best dogs ever and if i can i will save another

  • This is heartbreaking. I have a Great Pyrenees. She is the most amazing and loving creature on earth. Couldn't imagine life without her......

  • I rescued a pyr mix and am now looking to rescue another. Diamond is the greatest dog i have ever had - and she also takes up most of my bed. lol

  • i love my great pyrenees...he's my baby... the only problem is he's a roamer. He's great tho hes definietly a snuggler.

  • I also have a rescue pyr...the love of my life...what a great dog.....appropriately named "Baby"

  • I'm in Florida, but I wish I could help.

I adopted my GP from some people who couldn't handle her once they found out she was going to get big. She was already the size of their lab at 8 months old, and they just didn't want to care for her. :(

I love her so much though! And she is much happier.

These are really amazing dogs. Loving, caring, gentle, and completely awesome. :D

  • I rescued an AKC Great Pyr that was a mess! He had already had 2 other homes where he had been neglected an abused! He's wonderful, sheds alot, and barks alot but hes' still the best! my husband normally not an animal person even took day off work to stay home for his birthday. Thanks for all you guys do for them! Greyhounds are also a breed that needs help and communiites educated .

  • i found mine at the park walking around and she just walk up to my car so i pick her up and have her since then....good dog

  • also my GP is my best friend and if i lost him i probly be not typing this message cry sniff it is horrible what they can do to the gentle gaints i hade one before that and she died of cancer and a star is over my house and i see her there

  • I have one already they r a great member of the family

  • this made me cry, pyrenees are among the best breed ever!! They are so sweet, if I lived in texas I would adopt one from there!! They such great dogs!!, and beautiful too

  • Keep up, the good work I've got one to and i love so much i wouldend know what to do without him

  • We had one pyr before, her name was judy. She died last last and we loved her so much..Now we missed her...How I wished I could have another pyr again..Pyrs are very lovable dogs..

  • i read your message tonight. we got a great pyrenees in july from virginia, didlots of research, met the parents and breeders beforehand. her name is joy; we are madly in love with her. jo-lee's great pyrenees in hillsville, virginia. fabulous dogs.

  • I found a stray in an industrial area. It was terribly emiciated. It was the sweetest dog and it really needed help. It was trying to play but too weak. It was about 1/4 the weight of a normal Pyrenean. We found a good home for it same day. The person said it would be gratifying to rebuild the dogs strength and shave it. I am sure he is making that family very happy. I would recommend adopting this breed to anybody wanting a large, gentle and intelligent dog to complete your family.

  • I love my Great Pyrenees. He is the most gentle dog in the world. I couldn't imagine anyone giving up or hurting a Pyr (or any dog for that matter)

  • I have two.

Their names are Annabelle and Arthur and they are sooooo cute!

Annabelle is 9 months and Arthur is 11 weeks. :]

  • I rescued a six month old puppy GP yesterday afternoon~ She had been hit by a car we think and left to die in the country~ We have taken her in and LOVE her~

  • I love Pyrs. I rescued mine. She is a wonderful dog. Please help all Pyrs. in need.

  • I have a Pyrenean & St. Bernard, they are the most loving & loyal kids ever, I aways make sure they come first. There should be tigher control on people having animals, & pet stores should definately not sell animals, as this encourages impusle buying. Keep up your good work!

  • I saved a pyrenees from a shelter about 3 years ago "GEORGE". He is the smartest, most loyal, loving dog i could of asked for.

  • quisiera un golden retriver en adopcion pero vivo en mexico se pudiera adoptar?

  • Hi fans, We also adopted a big Patou, but I dont reallize the cause of this video ? what is goin on in the US with the Pyr ? are they more in danger then other dogs ?

  • all dogs are at risk. It is easier to do rescue if you stick to a breed you love. I love great pyrenees. Pyrenees get so big that they are often hard to find homes for once abandoned. Our organization specializes in Great Pyrenees Rescue.

  • This was just heartbreaking! My sweetie and I got our Pyr, Sascha, in December. The moment we saw her, we fell head over heels in love with her, and we just love her more each day--she is truly the best dog in the world, and Pyrs are an absolutely amazing breed--fabulous combination of good looks, sharp minds, gentle personalities and horse-like stature, LOL. Good luck in finding all these gentle giants the loving homes they deserve, and God bless you for the work you're doing!

  • i LOVE my Pyrenees and I could NEVER, EVER think about hurting an animal. I was incredibly pained by the TERRIBLE pictures on your video and I pray that you continue reaching our and saving these incredible souls!

  • we have a pyr and highly recommend one. she is incredibly smart, a fast learner, great with people and other dogs, big and small. gentle giants they are!

  • this kind is best dog in the world i agree that they need to be saved

  • What heart breaking photos. I adopted mine Pyre for $15 at a swap meet in Canton TX. She's the apple of our eye and I have videos posted of her on my page. Some folks just don't realize that adopting a dog is like adopting a child. It's a lifetime commitment to caring for the little soul.

  • Great video!!!
