@krisdb2009 flipper is the gfx on a GCN, as an a actual fact the cube runs a 405Mhz "gekko 2" provided by ibm, and the gekko 2 is actually a downgrade from the gekko 1 being a 465mhz in the original prototypes, they figured they wouldnt need it after they jumped the ATi speed up from around 120mhz. i really wish they kept the gekko 1 as its like 15% faster.

@UKTV2UTUBE I would have to disagree with you on that one. Intel has turbo boost and hyper threading. Those two features can make it a very powerful chip. AMD chips tend instead to have a much higher clockrate at a much lower price. I would say that the two are neck to neck, but if you have a budget when assembling your own machine - AMD all the way.

Just my Biased Option but I have never had any luck with AMDs. And a lot of their socket fastening techniques are difficult to say the least (similar to that of the Pentium 3 - A great big clip that nearly blinded me when it took half the socket up with it XD)

Both AMD and Intel processors are primitive and extremely slow compared to the non x86 CPUs that are politically prevented by Intel and Microsoft from ever being mass produced.

Ps3 is capped off to about 35 when it comes to high performance games, ya a game like call of duty may run at like 50 but that is "primitive" compared to 100+ frames per second. @dinnerandashow The PS3's cell design is outdated. We now have 8 cores. The PS3's cell processor was designed around the idea of not having 8 cores at the time. It was the cheapest way to get somewhat close to 8 cores. So if they redesigned it, it would basically be a half assed CPU. Think 8 full cores ( modern PC CPU's) VS 8 mini cores, which aren't actual cores just imitations. Common sense is amazing dude.

and guess what! Alot of them fancy ass processors are OVERKILL! All you need for most games is a Pentium 4 over 3 GHz, or a Dual core over 2 GHz. Seriously, you dont need all that processing power just for a couple of games.
Um case you didn't know benchmarks are built to benefit intel. My friends Phenom 4 benches 2500 points lower than my 2.66 duo both of them with the latest drivers, yet it performs better on higher resolutions in most games. Benchmarks are BS so just stick to real time performance.
AMD's cpus are just as fast for half the cost of an Intel CPU. Downside is that AMD (when overheading) fries. In general i chose AMD because i get the same speed for half the cost and i find it performs just as well as any Intel core.
@morepaincom ...it shouldn't overheat. The only AMD CPUs that really had that problem were the AMD K7s because they typically did not have an auto cutoff. Luckily, (yes, I still own a K7 system), the motherboard I have has an auto cutoff which shuts off the motherboard if any of the motherboard temps are over 85 C. Immediate shutoff, from the PSU.

I do have to say this though, the Phenom I was awful. The Phenom II's are fantastic though. I have a Phenom II X4 940 on a motherboard that holds 4 ATi Radeon video cards. My card of choice at the moment is the HD 4870. Why is it that the nVidia GeForce GTX 285 is $60USD more expensive than the ATi Radeon HD 5850 even though it's slower and only DirectX10 while the HD 5850 is DirectX11 compliant? For those who don't know, ATi is a part of AMD that started in Canada.
I only buy AMD and ATi these days. Not because I'm a fanboy but because Intel is SATAN and nVidia sits at Intel's left hand. Intel is a criminal organization and nVidia is a bunch of flat-out liars. @krisdb2009 flipper is the gfx on a GCN, as an a actual fact the cube runs a 405Mhz "gekko 2" provided by ibm, and the gekko 2 is actually a downgrade from the gekko 1 being a 465mhz in the original prototypes, they figured they wouldnt need it after they jumped the ATi speed up from around 120mhz. i really wish they kept the gekko 1 as its like 15% faster.
and the wii is a "broadway" 729mhz core that can perform around 2.5 times the opperations per clock at the Xbox 1. please correct if wrong

AMD chips tend instead to have a much higher clockrate at a much lower price. I would say that the two are neck to neck, but if you have a budget when assembling your own machine - AMD all the way.

AMD is handy for a budget PC in a pinch but Intel is good for long-term computing and whatnot :D
Just my Biased Option but I have never had any luck with AMDs. And a lot of their socket fastening techniques are difficult to say the least (similar to that of the Pentium 3 - A great big clip that nearly blinded me when it took half the socket up with it XD)

Both AMD and Intel processors are primitive and extremely slow compared to the non x86 CPUs that are politically prevented by Intel and Microsoft from ever being mass produced.
Just as a example, the Cell processor in PS3s.
Cheaper and faster then anything from Intel/AMD, produced way back in 2006.

Ps3 is capped off to about 35 when it comes to high performance games, ya a game like call of duty may run at like 50 but that is "primitive" compared to 100+ frames per second. @dinnerandashow The PS3's cell design is outdated. We now have 8 cores. The PS3's cell processor was designed around the idea of not having 8 cores at the time. It was the cheapest way to get somewhat close to 8 cores. So if they redesigned it, it would basically be a half assed CPU. Think 8 full cores ( modern PC CPU's) VS 8 mini cores, which aren't actual cores just imitations. Common sense is amazing dude.

Um case you didn't know benchmarks are built to benefit intel. My friends Phenom 4 benches 2500 points lower than my 2.66 duo both of them with the latest drivers, yet it performs better on higher resolutions in most games. Benchmarks are BS so just stick to real time performance.

AMD's cpus are just as fast for half the cost of an Intel CPU. Downside is that AMD (when overheading) fries. In general i chose AMD because i get the same speed for half the cost and i find it performs just as well as any Intel core.

@morepaincom ...it shouldn't overheat. The only AMD CPUs that really had that problem were the AMD K7s because they typically did not have an auto cutoff. Luckily, (yes, I still own a K7 system), the motherboard I have has an auto cutoff which shuts off the motherboard if any of the motherboard temps are over 85 C. Immediate shutoff, from the PSU.

AMD is cheap and good
Intel is Expensive and good
AMD is cooler than Intel
Intel has 6 core what only uses 2 cores for now but dunno maybe in close future games will support full 6 cores and amd's 6 cores are comnig this year so i go eith AMD but who have money buy intel its better in some games some not but they both hace + and- sides i'm not a fucking fanboy u know but i go with AMD thats my opinion

I do have to say this though, the Phenom I was awful. The Phenom II's are fantastic though. I have a Phenom II X4 940 on a motherboard that holds 4 ATi Radeon video cards. My card of choice at the moment is the HD 4870. Why is it that the nVidia GeForce GTX 285 is $60USD more expensive than the ATi Radeon HD 5850 even though it's slower and only DirectX10 while the HD 5850 is DirectX11 compliant? For those who don't know, ATi is a part of AMD that started in Canada.

I only buy AMD and ATi these days. Not because I'm a fanboy but because Intel is SATAN and nVidia sits at Intel's left hand. Intel is a criminal organization and nVidia is a bunch of flat-out liars. For some reason AMD doesn't do either of these things and I've been around the industry since 1984 and did my first build in 1988. I would buy AMD and ATi not only because they're a better value (MUCH cheaper mobos and AM2/AM3 compatability) but to keep competition alive!

I've had more Intel processors than you've had wet dreams about so don't start with the fanboy bullshit. Will an i7 beat and Phenom II? Of course it will, a Phenom II is aimed at the Core 2 Quad, only morons compare it to the i7. The thing that most people don't stop and think about is that they can't use the power of the i7 because the most they do is high-end gaming. Get it now BillyBob?

lol amd is NOT better, do some better research or have you even did that?, im not a Intel or amd fanboy, i have an PhenomII X4 955 Black Edition, But still Intel have much processors, Amd is cheaper and very good, in that way amds is much better. But in the facts Intel have a big lead so for. :P

@adolf512 Accualy i5 750 beats out the 965 at stock speeds and its about 1ghz slower, plus they are around the same price so i5 would be a better pick, plus when you overclock the i5 it will be screaming!

@adolf512 Yea maximum pc did a review over it, it actually beats the i7 920 in half the benches which is impressive cause the 920 has hypertreading and triple channel ram. although the i5 600 series is crappy cause they have gpus in them and they are only duo cores with hyper threading

only reason it beat the i7 was because the games did not support hyperthreading and the i7 resources were wasted to their 4 threads that werent doing anything... everything is going to hyperthreading more and more all the time and that is where you will see i7 pull ahead

@rambow70 Yup... But AMD isn't changing socket type for every cpu they make. Even AM3 are AM2 compatible. + you can buy a 6core to the came mobo to it later. Intel is for people with money :P
