@MAPLabel Yeah, DMS and their band had been showing great and excited stages in Japan ! Did you say about the photo of a little Japanese girl on Marcus's FB wall ? We know well he loves Japan. Fortunately, he chose Japan as their last place of this DMS tour !
@425MM Actually I'm living here and I just seen DMS two weeks ago on September 4th, uploading the video now as we speak. 2GB, taking about 20 hours to upload this thing. HD is nice to see but too slow to deal with.
@425MM Yeah, I'm American but I'm here in Tokyo. That video upload finished just a little while ago. Do a search for "Tokyo 東京 Jazz Festival 2011 Day 3 - Sunday, September 4th". It's a long video sitting on about a 12 minute duration, but you want to skip all that filler stuff at the beginning and go straight to the end, the good part and see DMS. Start at the 9:40 mark of the video.
@fabibass My bass has ash body and maple fingerboard similar to Marcus's '77 JB. So its sounds like his. anyway, I agree that Marcus plays his sound whenever by any bass.
@ianidinuse Marcus and his staff are very kind to his fans. I always visit more than 2 or 3 stages and places every his tour, and they became recognizing I'm big fan of him. Small club gig is good because we have chances to communicate artists, and sometimes your wishes may also come true.
@425MM When you say fingerboard reshaping and re-fretting. What exactly is done to the bass in detail and what does the step do for the bass. Does it play better? Different? I have a Marcus Miller reissue and I'm thinking about getting a Bartolini Preamp installed like the one Marcus has. Or would a Sadowsky be better. I know I won't achieve his wonderful tone but which preamp would give me the punch ( I love punch) that his bass have? The Bartolini or a Sadowsky? By the way, AWESOME SOUND!
@JazzBass7 I'm thinking that fingerboard reshaping is the most important point on Sadowsky Fender bass Modification. They reshape as the state of loading string tension by original fixture. It makes a little angle at the part of neck-body connecting and the angle affect "punch" sound. And bigger radius is better for the balance between 1-4 and 2-3 string. Sadowsky preamp is very high gain each tone. I had never used Bartolini TCT. Do you know Marcus's TCT is old and special electric connection?
@425MM There are some videos that give rare close-ups of Marcus's bass and you can tell that the area on the fingerboard where the E string and the G string lays is a lot lower compared to where the A and D strings are. But it's just something that I've always noticed and thought about. But I do know that his Bartolini TCT was specially wired by Roger Sadowsky. But I'm thinking about getting the Bartolini NTMB because it's not much different than the old TCT. What do you think? It'll add punch.
@JazzBass7 I'm not good at English, so it's hard to indicate Sadowsky modify... and I don't know the tone characteristics of NTMB. If you made some sound file by your bass, please tell me!

gabalbass 2 years ago
Sorry late reply.
Yes, I was very lucky.After this happening,Marcus seemed to remember me.
I bought this Fender '78 jazzbass in the US in '88.
This bass was modified by a Japanese luthier had been practiced under Mr. Sadowsky.
The modified points are;
finger board reshaping, re-fretting simmilar to those of Marcus, and installing Sadowsky humcanceled pickups and preamp.
