Drive the sled to the bottom of the steep pitch. Get off the machine and hike to a safe spot on the steep slope to dig a snow pit.

The slope is much less likely to slide with the weight of a hiker collapsing a weak layer than it is with a big heavy sled on it.

The slope is most likely to slide on a convex roll near the top of a ridge.

I've live in the mountains all my life. I've taken several Avalanche Training Courses and I work in the Industry.

Before heading into steep, avalanche-prone terrain with an extremely unstable snowpack, the group should be equipped with the proper training and equipment needed in the event of an avalanche.

The guy in the vid had avy-gear but should have tested the snow stability before climbing the highly exposed cornice ridge.
