2) they're meeting a date;

The reason there's so many guest speakers is that DeAngelo is basically a nerdy dude speaking from a theoretical, psychology-based point of view (all you hardcore DeAngelo disciples are really gonna hate me now). The guest speakers are probably guys he knows that have actually gotten lucky a few times and now "dating gurus".
