I wouldnt worry too much about wasting mana eggs on Sue. You can find more than enough of them throughout the game and giving her a few magics might make her a bit more useful.
Before i finish this video, thought I'd let you know that to make the bird guys easier, just evade them. That is were the grandia battle system shines.
