my brother, Those who will analyze this story, however, will easily notice how foolish was the behavior of the owner of the vineyard. He is ignorant of the future. He naively assumes that the wicked servants will respect his son. So can anyone compare this foolish man to God? The Pelican New Testament Commentaries, St. Mark. p. 309, say that it is unlikely that Jesus told this parable.
Respond to this video...As I understand it most historians accept the parable as authentic. The "they will respect my son" actually doesn't reflect on the owner of the Vineyard but the wicked tenants! Jesus is telling the this parable about the Jewish leaders to the Jewish leaders to send them a message. They should respect him, but will not, he knows they want to kill him and so he is conveying these two points (and others) to them.
While Jesus doesn´t seem to know "the time" (only the Father), he does still say that this generation (living then) would not die before he returned. That was obviously a bad and false prophecy. The "last times" seem to be close according to Jesus.
@PjotrII I'd say there is a difference between knowing a "generation" and a "day and hour". I know I am going to die within my generation (obviously right?) but I don't know the day or hour.
@Gentle135 yes, but I think you miss the point here. Jesus (son of God) prophesies that he will return (judgement day will come) while the generation he was speaking to was still living. That prophecy went wrong.
I have really enjoyed your video responses to bandaidmafia. I think it bolsters those like me that believe as you do and it makes bm and his side see that there are actual educated Christians that have put much time and effort into understanding and having answers for their beliefs. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the response man. I have to say that you are very dedicated to your beliefs and I really respect that. I think your beliefs are not in accordance with the bible but I also think that your heart is in the right place. It is too bad you are not on our side :)
I think the same thing about you! The big question is, does bad Jesus theology mess with someones slavation? I fear the answer. Hopefully we will both find ourselves at the dinner banquet in revelations.

"Jesus thought himself...." yes; today we would call it schizophrenia.

@AttteroDominatus Most of what I know concerning the Gospel of Thomas is the various views on dating for it and what value it may or may not have.

Orthodox Christians never "took the Jesus Seminar seriously." oh... and Vineyard (pronounced vinyerd) and Heir is pronounced like "air".
