Why the need for name calling?? I was never defending the US either, what we did to the Indians was horrible and what we are doing in Iraq now is a travesty. I have been against it since the Idiot (Bush)started talking about it in 02. Don't just go assuming that I'm an "american pig." I'm a former Beijing citizen and I saw the Tiananmen Square protests in my teens. The real protestors left the square by June 1st. Only the extremists supported by the USA government remained. Thus we have every right to crush them.
I can barely see why those people are called "innocent", even though some of them did have a good will, while I do see a lot more reasons for PLA being loved by chinese people. It has nothing to do with nationalism; please do not be biased by assuming the government is evil.
I've seen american version of this, the hurrican katrina, instead of heling those disater victims US soldiers were pointing guns at the blacks, as if all blacks are thiefs, robbers and rapists... and there was a newspaper showing a white and black american took things out of supermarket, the discption on the whiteman was "finally the victim found the foods for survival" and on the black man was "mobs have just robbed a supermarket"... -_-"
The PLA is the most hard-working army in the world. In China, I saw news report that a soldier sacrificed his life to save someone in the floods. But that was a long time ago =].
Thanks for the post, i was actually in Harbin in 98, you know they try to use their own bodies to stop the flood waters, so others can fill up the broken dam from behind. Numerous soldiers got heat stroke cause they would just keep working for like 20 hours straight. and catch some sleep on the cement beside the dykes. They didn't really have time to eat, so they would just eat instant noodle packs without even boiling them. LONG LIVE PLA!!! It is because of them, that we are here today :)
