  • In 2050 we will run out of trees, drinkable water and food if we do not change our way of life. I think this song has a lot of meaning and was way before its time

  • @LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH Get the fuck outta here.

  • @Nunmuduru Thank you for your incredibly innane comment. Cleary you are depriving a village somewhere of a exceptionally fine idiot. Keep working at it and one day you will graduate from quarterwit to the heady heights of halfwit. ;)

  • @LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH Stop mocking that idiot, before I show you what an idiot you are compared to me.

  • @K4inan Thank you for your utterly innane remark Einstein. Please do feel free to try & cross swords with me.

  • @LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH Calling me Einstein is an insult, since I'm much smarter than that person.

  • @K4inan To use the sardonic parlance of Clint Eastwoods 'Dirty Harry,' "Marvellous......."

  • @LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH Such witticism is unappreciated. Go watch some soccer, it's something for your intelligence level =)

  • @K4inan Only a fool assumes. You have 'assumed' that I follow soccer- a game I have not the least bit of interest in. Next..........

  • Just as relevant a song as ever.

  • this is awesome :D

  • Love this song!! Love the Genesis audio, hate the video, love the Disturbed video, audio is ok but can't hold a candle to Phil

  • Genesis is like diving in an ocean, while you are going deep don't measure how deep you are going, enjoy every bit of the journey. Listening to genesis, you are always in a world far far away from everything....

  • These guys know what is music! am 29 and grown up in the late 80's,these songs could make me happy anytime...we

cannot hear a song like this nowadays.

  • @lighter983 the closests we get to hear a song like this today is that shitty disturbed version and the reason i dont like it is because of the voice.... its a screaming voice that sings it and it sounds terrible and besides i think the song is out dated today so it dosent really make sense to cover it

  • i'm grateful to my parents for exposing me to this as i was growing up in the 90s :) i fully appreciate 70s & 80s music thanks to them.

  • Great song! Wish i was around in the 1980's... The music was so much better!

  • @squizwald Check out as much eighties music as you can, you won't be disappointed.

  • oh man... i thought disturbed did this good, but this is better in its twisted funky 80's way :D

  • All these years later and still no change..

At least Disturbed covered this song for the new Generation like me. Can you believe that some people would not of heard this?

  • Age: 15,

Status: Remembering & loving this song :D

  • im 14 and love this shit :D

  • @Jimoley Unfortunately, NOBODY CARES HOW OLD YOU ARE!!! So shut up, listen to the beautiful music, and don't spam this place! And don't call this music 'shit' !!!

  • @Paoloboy66 woah calm down man im not spamming this i have a right to comment you know

  • @Paoloboy66 "Nobody cares how old you are"? I actually like the fact that this kid's only 14 and already has such a good taste in music. Also "Don't call this music shit", that's just the way they call it nowadays, he didn't mean it in an insulting way.

  • @Jimoley Your age is irrelevant. What makes you think 'WE' care HOW old YOU are, or that YOU, 'love this shit?' 'Shit,' is that the best way you can express yourself? You are proof that society is regressing back to the stone age. A poor vocabulary is something to be ashamed of.

  • @LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH id rather have unproper grammar then waste time correcting all my comments on youtube its not a big deal if you can understand it

  • Ok I tought Disturbed version was great but god this was made on 1986 and sounds way better!

    Just amazing!

  • yey great :D <3

  • isnt this called a contagious earwig in medicine?

  • disturbed sings this same song too

  • like this - took me back to teenage years in deutchland!!

  • This song is good, but, I prefered the Disturbed's version. I'm Sorry, I'm French, so, I dont' good speak English

  • Phill Collins

    amazing

    good

    nice

    bad

    worst

  • @LailaBecef That's right

  • thumps up if you agree with this :

    Genesis Version >>>>>> Disturbed Version

And yes the sound its far beyond its time

  • most epic song!!!

  • 28 people aren't cultured enough to appreciate lyrical genius.

  • 3:21 - Phil Collins at his best!

  • Comment removed

  • I was thinking at 2:58 i thought in my head. "Im not worthy"

  • the band genesis was formed in my school in the UK!

  • @cheeselate nice

  • disturbed can suck mah ballz...i've got something called "music culture"...

  • @MuMoLoLi There was no need to drag the word culture into that slop.

  • @MuMoLoLi yeah? so do i... and i love disturbed :/ you should keep these sort of opinions to yourself

  • @MuMoLoLi yeah the disturbed version sucks its such a screaming horrible voice thats singing

  • thumbs up if disturbed brought you here and the other video freaks you out :p

  • the superior version!

  • palestinian freedom

  • The chorus (or probably all of the lyrics, but chorus in particular) ought to have more truth now that we hit the 7 billion population mark.

  • This song sounds tooo damn good for 1986!

  • @ElectronicMusican Too good? 1986 was a better year than 2011, or any year of the 2000s.

  • Most favorite of all Genesis song for me and my mother.

  • Genesis rocks and jesus knows that, in Germany Genesis is often played in the Radios so i came to this fantastic song Great Musik never dies!

  • THIS is music & not that bieber sh*t played today =)

  • Get Katzenjammer to play The Genesis cover "Land of Confusion" at the Nobel Peaceprice concert!! Perfect!

  • ya say jb,i say mj(pop kings fight,mj win!)

    u say lady gaga,i say madona(madona win)

you say coldplay,i say genesis(we all know who win.)

you say owl city,i say led zeppilin(should i say?)

anyway, the today hits are hillerious,a lot of clowns in freak suits, against the hits.

  • @yarin981 that comment sucks cause it says jb is a pop king

  • I'm 16, and nor do i... (although does it count if i prefer the disturbed version?)

  • this is music

  • "I remember long ago..." That song gives me much memories. Thanks!

  • Numerous are also the groups cover that engage in the revival of Genesis. On the streets, in clubs and theatres of the city and province are hundreds representations which every year are dedicated to Genesis.

  • no more confusion in libya .............peace.

  • feel the Philfluence!

  • lol, the beginning sounds like ghost busters theme Oo

  • THIS IS THE LAND OF CONFUSION

  • ***

  • Who cares who made a better version, both have an important meaning, and we shouldn't bash each other for the same thing.

  • I may be flamed for thinking that but Disturbed's bridge for this song is much better than Genesis' one. That's the only difference that makes me love Disturbed version more.

  • @VonBoche

Fair point but without the original.......no Disturbed version...got to be honest...Love 'em both!

  • Though I love Disturbed, I still can´t undertsand why they´re cover is the first thing YT shows when I type in "Genesis Land of Confusion" in the searchbox:S

  • @Nekhet

    -_-

  • @zanuha ????:S

  • @Nekhet

Could they possibly have wanted to do a cover of Genesis' Land of Confusion?

  • @zanuha Well, they did. So, yes; apperentely Disturbed wanted to do a cover of Land of Confusion..

  • @Nekhet

Which is why they did a cover of the song that comes up when you search for Genesis Land of Confusion.

  • @zanuha Yes, and that puzzles me since the Genesis´ version should be the first one to come up when you search "Land of Confusion".

  • @Nekhet

    It is.

  • @zanuha not for me. It shows Disturbeds version first on the search list..

  • Great 1980s song from Genesis!!! 27 people are living in the land of confusion!!!!

  • f*ck you youtube, i just had to go through the thing where you have to type the words that are in the box, and they were f*cking impossible, even if i wrote them right!

srsly, why do i have to f*ck around so long to express myself?

    srsly, f*ck you, youtube!

  • @arthurdragon17 ..youtube fuckin suxxxx times million in square root man!! Oldfashion as the bronze age..

  • wow, its almost as good as disturbed:D

theyre both equally good i think...

but i am a little disappointed that disturbed didnt make this XD

  • @arthurdragon17 ...oh so sorry u did'nt live 25 yrs ago... was u a blueberry in your mummys forest then???

  • ...wow i thought disturbed made this song...

  • @knifeninja100000 They wish.

  • Kissmycrouchia located just below mypantsia

  • awesome :)

  • Lol, if you block out the words, it sound like the rhythm for Rick Astley's "Never Gonna' give you up"

  • 25 years old.

How many shit songs from our current time or generation will we be talkin about in 25 years time...that right, none.

Unless! it's to mock them or something ?

  • Disturbed did a Shite cover, probably because they're a load shite ?

The only reason people cover a track is because its a classic...

You would have to be 12, or a bit disturbed to think that cover was better or even close to this overlooked Genesis calssic.

  • @HitchHikersBlues oh ...i sens some musical intolerance ;)

  • @xphotosniperx ...It's not Music i'm intolerant of, man : )

  • I didn't know Disturbed didn't originally sing it. When I found out, I checked this out. I thought it would suck, but I actually like it! I like Disturbed's better in my opinion just because it's a bit more like my style and it's the one I've known. The "original" (or one you know better) is almost always better to you. Like how a lot of younger girls like the ATeens covers of ABBA songs.

  • timeless song

  • A bit of trivia: guitarist/bassist Mike Rutherford wrote the lyrics to this. Rutherford also wrote the lyrics to "Follow You Follow Me," "Taking it All Too Hard," "Just a Job to Do," and "Throwing It All Away," which were also radio hits. Singer/drummer Phil Collins wrote the lyrics to most of their other radio hits.

  • Yes, I too am thinking of the Egyptians fight for freedom as I hear this song today.

  • EGYPTIAN REVOLUTION FTW!!!

  • "I won't be comming home tonight. My generation will put it right. We're not just making promises, that we know we'll never keep."

  • Holy shift! Check out the asymptote on that mother function.

  • great song!!! i love it!!

  • i feel really stupid now...

I listen to disturbed alot, they're one of my favorite bands.

as i was searching up land of confusion, this came up by genesis, and i see it was made in 1986, then realize it was REmade by disturbed, and i didn't even realize until just barely

  • feels like im getting high in heaven. and this, disturbe, and in flames version kicks ass

  • This is the song Disturbed actually covered with their indestructible...

  • This is not bad, even better than disturbed's version. But the best version is the one that In Flames made. Of course one can't simply compare In Flames and genesis since their genres are WAY too different.

  • I'm 15, and I don't understand all the idiots who call themselves musicians like Ke$ha, and all those other autotune, can't sing a lick, wanna-bes! I listen to stuff like Genesis, Van Halen, Journey, Rush, Zeppelin! That actually took skill! Not just going into a studio and having your voice autotuned! I mean, for Christ's sake! I could send my dog in to do that! This IS MUSIC!

  • @ThatGuitarGuy2013 You're fifteen and already sound like a Scenester cunt. Well done.

  • @ThatGuitarGuy2013 shut the fuck up and listen what you want. so will do all the others.

  • @ThatGuitarGuy2013 you're the coolest 15 years old ever :)

  • @ThatGuitarGuy2013 I'm 17, and I don't see why your age is relevant at all.

  • @tomatot94 The irony..

  • @tomatot94 To Right Pal i Was Playing At Six And Break Danceing At 7 Man Eff Um Ok. > DJ(U)MC - UK.

  • Comment removed

  • @ThatGuitarGuy2013 i agree with you 100%^^

  • @ThatGuitarGuy2013 I agree with all that you said, but I don't understand why all the people have to say their age.

  • @ThatGuitarGuy2013 Hell yarr! Rock on!

  • Disturbed should have the rights to this song lmao. They made it more popular.

  • @BennyOsborne no they didnt lmfao you must be young and like 20 years old or something to think that way

  • @BennyOsborne No, they didn't.. i've never heard that version, this is the original and the best.. no doubt..

  • @ninjaboy6000 and ones just a remake lol jk

  • @ninjaboy6000 plus Genesis' video is probably one of the most creative I've ever seen

  • So I guess the 25 dislikes are Disturbed Fans.

  • @MrBWAAAAAA or people who have no respect for a classic

  • I like the other version of the song: Disturbed - Land of Confusion:)

  • It's funny with people saying that no one will remember Disturbed in 20 years. I have never heard of this band in my life, i only checked it out to see if the Disturbed version was better.... And yeah, disturbed made this song amazing.

  • @tommyboy1604 Disturbd version was good, but it pales in comparison to this one

  • @tommyboy1604 if you have never heard of genesis then your parents have neglected you as a child

  • @jouett96 Completely agree! I'm 22 and was obviously not around for Genesis but my parents loved me enough to fill my childhood with Genesis and other classic bands from the 60's, 70's and 80's(to a degree). And there's not doubt that people with musical tastes will still remember Genesis another 20 years from now.

  • @tommyboy1604 you are an idiot. this is the original and will always be better than Disturbed's version.

  • @4441omega It is much better; disturbed did do a damn good cover.

  • timeless

  • you know I heard this song for the first time in an 80s cartoon tribute video. This song is so awesome, I can't believe I never heard it before????

  • i've heard this song more than 50000000 times the last 24 hours, damn! Tirana right now is really a land of confusion

  • @qomjaaa pershendetje :P

  • It is not about certain situations such as today or whenever, but the song is about every situation.

  • I like Disturbed's version better :( But that's just the style. The lyrics are awesome on both, and so true...

  • I like this song because it seems to anticipate the Muslim extremism that came just a decade later. The crying out for a "Superman," almost seems prophetic with the Obama election. This song is so Orwellian, people dismiss it as music, but this was a foreshadowing of everything we're facing now. Too bad no one listened.

  • You know what I hate? Listening to a very good song and having it ruined by the comments where kids always go "I'm only (Insert immature age here) and I like this music!" Has no one noticed this shit? It only happened recently. NO ONE GIVES A SHIT HOW OLD YOU ARE!!! THE RIGHT TO LISTEN TO GOOD MUSIC ISN'T SOME FUCKING STRIP CLUB WHERE YOU NEED PROOF OF AGE! NO ONE BELIEVES ALL MUSIC ALL OF YOU GUYS LISTEN TO IS SHIT. THERE IS NOTHING TO PROVE. STOP BEING ANNOYING. There, now to click play ;)

  • @Destyroyer no offense dude but you're annoying...

  • <3<3<3

I wasnt in this era, but this is a really great song. Disturbs cover is pretty good also. Crazy how it explains this time of year so well, when this song is so old.

  • this is amazing I love disturbed and I found out that the original is by genesis(which i also love) and I have to give credit to both but you cant beat the originals ahha(I'm only thirteen so dont call me dumb for not knowing it was made by genesis ahhahha)

  • It's sad how Disturbed's Cover has more views than this and the original video combined. (Nothing against Disturbed, I just think the original would deserve more than some cover.)

  • @cclcdlcel

It's briliant song, of course Genesis is great, they write it :P, but Disturbed cover is as good as original version. :)

Doesn't matter who will sing it. Messege - it's what people need :).

    Grettings from Poland :)

  • The best of Genesis.

  • i really like metal but softrock is also cool ^^

  • Well this and disturbed is way better thn bieber u gota admit that

  • @KidVlogger317 Also, the Disturbed version has a pretty awesome guitar solo. But the original is epic awesomeness in its own right. Heh, what would be cool is getting Disturbed and Genesis up on stage together. :-p The whole Invisible Touch album is a masterpiece. (I will admit I don't much care for "Throwing It All Away," but that's just me.

  • Who would've know that a song made about 25 years ago would be so relevent today?

  • @francobobfred between this and what butchwright said, these were two of the three main reasons Disturbed did the cover in the first place. I think I read somewhere that Dave Draiman said the third was that it suited the very political nature of the "Ten Thousand Fists" album.

  • @francobobfred

well Lots of music and songs are that way but most of the time in the "Rock" Genre.

  • @francobobfred

Quite a few people giving that the subject matter is "people are stupid and can't foresee things".

  • @francobobfred yeh but i think disturbs version kinda fits the current situation better /shrug

  • @francobobfred Except the part about our generation will make it right.

  • @c1011737r I disagree -- it is still relevant. Just apply it to the current situation. The present generation.

  • @francobobfred Exactly.

  • @francobobfred Disturbed

  • @francobobfred : I agree, but it WAS very relevant 25 years ago, the corruption, the threat of tyranny, the subversion, the divide and conquer psychology. There is nothing new under the sun, the new world order was way way way way into planning in 1986 and it's only now that SOME people can see what's going on, sadly, we are the minority. Genesis wrote a powerful message, but sadly thier lyrics did not come true. "This generation "DID NOT PUT IT RIGHT". However, what a classic song. Back to life!

  • @j4wn

Indeed - what was covert control back then has become overt today, and is getting increasingly more blatant by the day (the mainstream pop whores "advertise" illuminati and illuminait-esque stuff in their music vids to hide it in plain sight)

  • @francobobfred By the way, I forgot to mention, What does the album cover say to you? It says "Biometrics" to me! Invisible Touch....Hmmmm.......?

  • @francobobfred History repeats itself.

  • @francobobfred ..some people always see reality for what it is...Plato, Shakespere, Jung, Einstein, Tesla...a.s.o. .... as well as a few musicians..Lennon, Pink Floyd, Oldfield, Collins..a.s.o... History repeats itself, some know it, whilst others contemplate...It'll be the same in a thousand yrs time IF we are lucky enough to survive ourselves..

  • @francobobfred Well considering the world is constantly in a state of chaos I guess it can be considered relevant to the point we all blow each other to pieces.
