Guns on Campus (with concealed carry permit)

They hit the nail on the head with this one, it's pretty simple logic. Guns in the hands of good people is a good thing. Criminals do as they please and crazed killers want easy targets, we can't legislate them into morality, all we can do is prepare for them to do their evil deeds. Allowing students and teachers (with proper permits) to carry on campus will save lives. I wonder how many people would be alive today if Virginia allowed carrying on campus, Vtech wouldn't have been so awful.

I would love to be able to get a concealed firearm permit. Where I live there is a high incidence of rape, murder, and robbery. I just dont feel safe without a gun! A gun is advisable if you live in an area with a heavy meth problem. Thanks to Dianne Feinstein, california is now a more dangerous place to live.

And when I thought he has earned the maximum amount of credit with me, he gains more by revealing that he carries a gun. Time after time, Glenn says publicly what my little voice says every day. Why not? Concealed weapon holders should be able to exercise their Constitutional rights on campuses if they are public universities first of all... And anyone ever heard of the Salt Lake Mall shooter or Trolly Square? Both of those shooters were taken down by concealed weapons. The VT and Columbine shooters wouldn't have gotten as far had there been concealed weapon holders on the premises. If people are afraid of law abiding gun holders, get a gun and protect yourself.

The laws are not always clear and they often can be interpreted many ways. I'm not sure exactly what your question is as your question isn't very clear. Even if I knew what your question was; I probably don't know the answer because the laws very from state to state and year-to-year. It takes research to find out what the laws are; an often it takes a lawyer or a court to resolve interpretation. It's really easy to get yourself in hot water with the law.

I think almost every state has a different definition of "brandishing" brandishing is typically considered handling or displaying a weapon in a manner that is threatening and likely to induce panic. The legal definition of brandishing is typically considered a violation of the law. In most states I think that open carry is not considered brandishing; regrettably some states to consider open carry to be brandishing. Every state has different rules and laws. It's very confusing.

Here in Utah, CC has been allowed on most of the campuses and nothing has happened. No shootings, and no "wild west" out of hand drunk frat boys shooting each other like a lot of the gun grabbers said would happen. But....there is a different mentallity out here. I moved from the east coast and there is a marked difference in values and temperment amoung the younger crowds. Not sure what would happen back east.

People are so paranoid that when they see a person in plain clothes with a gun but they assume that the person with a gun is a criminal. i have a ccw and i carry all the time for 2 years and you need to have the right gun to carry.during the winter i carry my xd.45 compact or my 10mm glock .the summer i carry my glock 357 or my sp101 revolver and a smartcarry holster if i want to wear shorts and a tank top and it works for me .thank god i live in arizona instead of a blue liberal state

Ironically he was giving a lecture on gun safety and bragging about how well trained, how safe he was and what an expert he was. The DEA agent was reckless and incompetent compared to the vast majority of the concealed carry people I know.

I don't recall anyone ever saying that the concealed carry permits guaranteed that someone could make a snap decision and exercise tactical moves correctly. For the most part the concealed carry permit just make sure that individual has some rudimentary training in gun safety and law; but more importantly that they are reasonably sane and have a reasonably clean record.

Fortunately I live in Oregon which, believe it or not, allows us to concealed carry on public (not private unless they allow it) campuses. Although the universities don't want you to know that and will try to press charges. I think the whole issue with guns is that there is a number of ppl out there that are irresponsible which give guns a bad rep. Those ppl I believe were not brought up with guns and taught responsibility when handling them.

Almost every student, and certainly every staff member on the campus of college/uni are legally adults, so I don't see how allowing those that have the desire and training (as in legal permit holders) will cause any problems. Legal permit holders carry OFF campus without problems, right?

Depending on the state it can take 3 to 4 months to go through the entire process of getting a CCDW. You have to be 21, clean record, and pass courses dealing with legal responsibilities and safety performance. Those with drug, alcohol, and convictions for any violent actions especially doemestic violence are automatically eleiminated.

Part of the training for the CCW requires the person to know the laws and understand the rights and the responsibilities of carrying a firearm. Anyone who has gone through a training understands this and knows the potential liability involved.

Unfortunately this bill didn't pass here in AZ. Believe it or not, it was due to a few "Republicans" in the Senate who don't trust someone who is allowed to carry a concealed gun all over the state except for college campuses. Beck is correct about how anti-gun nuts would react if one concealed carry holder ever inadvertantly shot a bystander while using a gun for defense.

Airline pilots have been allowed to carry guns since 2001. Recently, there was an accidental discharge of a pilot's gun on a plane (no injuries or damage to the plane), and the gun grabbers claimed one accidental gun shot in 7 years is proof that pilots can't be armed.

In the real world, citizens can and do use guns to save lives.
