wow great video some day i hope to own a supercar and while i don't believe its trully necessary i think its good to know about all the parts and what exactly they're ddoing :) thanks!
in a bucket tappet sytem is there a spacer b/w camshaft lobe and lifter?and if that spacer is weared do we v have to change the whole lifter or jst that spacer?
pls advise me. what r the effects of engin change on the transmition? i changed my diesel 2400 engin with 2400 petrol engin but kept the transmission same .on my mitsubishi pajero 88 three door ..?
@KingofComputing Got to keep in mind that american made engines tend to be a bit "backwards" compared to their european and asian cousins.
The thing is that a pushrod engine is simpler to manufacture and needs less maintenance. But wont rev as high because of the added weight to the valvetrain and restricts you to 2 valves per cylinder.
OHC is more complex with the addition of timing belts or chains, but can have 4-5valves per cylinder, and revs up lots more before valve float becomes an issue.
Pushrod engines are not limited to 2 valves per cylinder. Length of stroke limits RPM's more than "added weight to the valve train". OHC with a long stroke will redline before a pushrod engine with a shorter stroke. What are you talking about?

What is a "moden" engine? is that a new type of engine?

@pathman2 depends. my 95 saturn sl2 had overhead cams but my 2003 ford explorer is a pushrod engine.

@jonsen2k
Also, OHC vs. Pushrod has nothing to do with when a valve will float. Again, what are you talking about?
