Everyone, the guys who invented this kinda style, you SHOULD really know them, they're also a French band called "Scarve". They are just insane. Check out the album Luminiferous. Even though they're production sucks, they are an amazing band, with AMAZING musicians!!

I love Scarve, but Outcast sound fairly different. There's the dynamics/transitions of Scarve, but the riffs are a very big Gojira/Textures cross, the vocals are very Joe Duplantier as well. Guitar solo is more like Frederik Thordendal though..

But it fucking rules, the french (and french canadians) are creating some of the best metal ive heard (especialy black metal influenced bands), it might just be me but they all seem to have a really earthy and honest vibe to them which makes them awesome. US metal is generaly too egotistical and northern european stuff is just gay.

@AFanOfAmbience hm... technical-wise i would say it's balanced or even the other way around. But it's difficult to compare these two bands IMO. Obscura are more technical and hamonic and Outcast have these really wicked song structures and riffs. I love both.
