  • aww i wish u made more videos they are helpful!

  • Ehm i have a question..I have curly hair 2 and i wonder what kinda coam i need to use to get big curls. Right now my curls are little r something

  • how did you get your hair to grow so long?

  • You are truelly missed on youtube ♥ when will you make yout big return? i cant wait!☻

  • @CFergie1784 she's not transitioning just stretching her relaxer. She normally stretches anywhere from 6months to a year :)

  • hello I was wondering if you are still transitioning or have you cut off the remaining relaxed ends?

  • your videos are very informative, helped me get thru my 4 month stretch. I'm going for 6 months this time. I hope you make more videos :)

and your hair is gorgeous girl

  • please post more videos!

  • what does TBA mean?

  • @JazzRockablity It Means To Be Announced(:

  • Wow that must be a fucking nightmare to detangle...I feel like a massive bitch now for complaining about my BSL natural hair.....it ain't got shit on you! LOL...I need to woman-up haha.

  • Now I have to say this as an Afro-goth chick, but your hair - even though it's a transition between natural and relaxed - looks really cool. The whole look that you can get from natural hair (and the fact that wild, BIG hair is accepted in the goth subculture) is one big reason why I'm so much at peace with having my hair natural.

  • I never seen that much hair on my comb when I detangled. Even Alittle hair scares me. I wonder if half of that was breakage?

  • @shellisa04

lol..no it's not breakage. i hardly ever comb my hair. i can go up to 2 weeks w/o combing. so on wash days when i finally do it's full of 'shedded' hair with the bulb on the end. that wasn't much compared to whats usually in my comb.

  • omg your hair is soooooooo beautiful! u inspire me to take care of my hair so it can be long and healthy like yours!

  • I appreciate you sharing your healthy hair journey. Your hair is healthy and beautiful.

  • Do people hate on you b/c of your length? How do you handle it if they do? I have a lot of hair but I am scared to wear it down b/c I don't want to get hated on...or accused of having weave

  • @Banksparty4

i never noticed any hate lol

  • We have missed your vids.... would love to hear an update....

  • gosh, im three and a half months post relaxer. If u can do it, i know i can!

  • I would love to see the results of a bantu knot out on your hair. Would you consider making a video showing the results?

  • @tamoniva12 yes..very soon

  • I want to purchase the right Rusk Smoother... Is it the conditioner, or do you use the conditioner as a leavein?

  • @sweetfm2008 it's a leave in conditioner

  • Thumbs up if you want Sly to make a new video yall

putm up, putm up, putm up

Sylver if it hit 100 thumbs up you gotta come on back

    : - ))

  • are you on KISS blog site??

  • @keandra25 no..why?

  • Comment removed

  • Just wondering because you are on a hair journey and its been awhile since you have made a video!! KISS is tracys blog site!! I wanted to see your updated photos and I know how stressful youtube can be!!! I hope you show your progress soon!!! You are very motivating for stretching relaxers!! God Bless

  • @keandra25 no

  • i do the same thing sleep in condition its the best.

  • Comment removed

  • You should try a bigger comb. Less hair loss. More curls.

  • @OhYeahTheNightNurse i didn't lose any hair. i was indeed using the right comb. in the shower i detangled w/ a jibere shower comb. then i combed thru w/ a wide tooth comb. the small tooth comb was only for my new growth which was well saturated. i'm not natural so there are no curls w/ 2 different textures on my head. my hair did great from this stretch. but thank u.

  • please make more vids.amazing hair

  • @antinicia thank you..i will hopefully soon

  • wow since you have so much new growth, why dont you go natural. have u seen kimmaytube or rusticbeauty? hope i didnt offend, but u might concider transitioning to natural AFTER u get a relaxer, which would probably suck. then you'd have to start all over again

  • @oprah7 not going natural right now..but thank you. maybe soon

  • @oprah7 people are never happy. her hair is just fine, no need to go natural. what matters is healthy hair. i wouldnt go and tell someone hey you should relax, so i dont expect anyone to say or tell someone else that!

  • @MsSASSYLOL every 5-6 months

  • @sylver2 BRING YO *ZZ OUTTA RETIREMENT SYLVER : - ))

    ♥ luv ya

  • @HipHopcheerleader lol..hopefully soon..thks so much:)

  • @HipHopcheerleader yeah, really! We watching re-runs for days.... :)

  • i now this video is old,but did u ever wash ur hair in sections r did u just wash ur hair all in one?

  • @cutiepie24ist in 2 sections

  • @CoNfIdEnTnOtCocKy08 my hair is healthy and has never been LIMP & LIFELESS! lol. u obviously haven't looked at my pics. check my page & the link to my hair album pics of bone straight relaxed full healthy hair. ..also wht r u talking about the ends bcom dead..lol? hair is dead anyway. u can't 'relax' ends that's been previously relaxed.. ends look thinner bcus there r 2 different textures on my head. of course the new growth will look fuller against previously relaxed bone straight ends.

  • What is the name of the conditioner you used? I couldn't catch the name or see the bottle.

  • @MsChubbyface the leave in conditioner i use is Rusk sensories smoother leave in. regular conditioners i use are keracare humecto, pantene relaxed mask or neutrogena deep conditioner

  • sylver 2 i have been "attempting" to do braidouts for some time now and they only last for like 2 hours....until i started using gel....how do u do ur braidout and they stay all day...i dont want to have to depend on gel for a good braidout.

  • @xquisitduchess hair has to be completely wet with a nice creamy leave in

  • UGH! I hate when my hair is like this/ I dread my wash days when I haven't have a texture softener in a while/ it takes so much patience/ sometimes I just want to cut it off, but I'm at about mid back length and I'm tryna be like you and hang on to get that length!! lol ^_^ Thanks for the vids/ feels good not to feel alone lol

  • your hair is very thick and very pretty , but how long your going to do your stretch..

  • @reggie02062 my stretch ended last year. i have relaxed twice already. it was only a 1 year stretch. i just been to lazy to do update videos lol, but i have update pics in my hair album.

  • Your video has helped so many people who are transitioning--just in case you didn't already know :) So thank you. I'm in month 8 of (not a stretch), but a transition to natural, and it was nice to know that it could be done without breaking. Many hairdressers tell people that they can't go past 10 weeks or their hair will "drop off". AMAZING> BTW--need more videos ;) Take Care

  • I'm looking forward to more hair videos. Keep them coming. You have inspired me to stretch longer.

  • No Manipulation, Very Little combing is the key or has been the key for me growing my hair out, Thanks for sharing and teaching me. Maybe some don't get it..... works for me.

    Thank You Sylver2

  • a wild animal huh? 1st I am relaxed! Im not natural.unless i cut off all my relaxed hair then yes the new growth would need taming in order to match my relaxed ends. unfortunately its not the othe way around. the relaxed ends will remain straight no matter what and i won't be cutting them anytime soon. sorry if u were offended although there really wasn't anything to be offended about. im not a natural hair advocate. im a healthy hair advocate. i can't make everyone happy.

  • Thanks for sharing your journey both the good and the bad. I'm glad that you don't try to make it seem like it's all smooth sailing. Everyone who has transitioned from relaxed to natural know what's up whether they want to admit it or not. This video get 5 stars from me! Because you are being truthful. BTW, your natural hair looks thick and healthy.

  • Sorry you didn't get it. ; ) lol

  • @38moons and im sorry u don't get ..me.

  • no manipulation! :) yup, Neutrogena makes some good stuff... another awesome smoother is Biolage Smooth Therapie Smoothing Serum -- very taming & healthy to use. I've been watching all these hair vids & I'm getting so inspired! Yours is the best [for me] so far tho -- make more please! Also love the pix you have as your wallpaper :) tutorials!! lol

  • Lovin' the hair!

  • have thought about going natural.. you should do a little research on natural hair b4 you relax...i love your real hair texture

  • Comment removed

  • pls make more vids thnx i loved this one

  • Just go natural girl your already transitioning!

  • I disagree. As long as you are taking care of your hair it shouldnt be a problem. Her hair is pretty healthy,go natural for ? some people exaggerate with relaxer whhich is bad. She stillhas some textures

  • Trust me I don't believe going natural is for everybody. It will be a big change for her because her relaxed hair is so long.

  • yeah exactly :)

  • You have a lot of patience sweety. The longest I can tolerate not texlaxing is 4 months max!

I completely advocate stretching though, if you choose to use chemicals, its the only way not to end up with a chewed up 1 inch ghetto pig tail.

  • wow you have the same type i have! I think Im gonna try going a year without relaxer too.

  • Sylver can you keep these videos coming. They really help. Can you show how you detangle in sections.. I viewed your videos a long time ago so maybe you did already. I'll double look. But I meant as if you was in the shower. It looks so perfectly detangle and I cant get this method down. Do you do it under running wateR? I think I lose the most hair if I detangle my stretched hair under water..not sure..

  • not to be nit pick or anything. just wondering. wats the point of streching for a year? lol isnt that just transitioning? u might as well go natural you have gorgeous hair and thickness!

  • The longer you stretch your relaxer the further from your scalp your line of demarcation (the line where your previously permed hair and your natural new growth meet) will be. Therefore, it's less risk of overlapping your relaxer and perming already permed hair. Also, I don't know about anyone else but when I stretch my relaxers my hair is much healthier, fuller and it doesn't shed as much. For others it's the opposite. So, it's really about doing what works for you.

    HTH.

  • Woah! you put the condtioner in like a relaxer? AND you stretch your relaxer? It must take you forever and and day to get your hair from wet to dry finished lol.

Your hair is almost EXACTLY like mine but mine is a few inches shorter. My hair looks just like yours when I wash it I have no patients with it though lol.

I have one question though, are you worried about product build up? You did say you used Aloe Rid to clarify though so I guess that takes care of it.

  • Great tips!

    Thanks sista for sharing!

  • why do people post relax?

  • Is the rusk's smoother better used on wet or dry hair or both? What is your opinion on that? Thanx

  • it is a leave in for wet hair

  • sylvie when are you planning to upload the 1 year relaxer day video. im really looking forward to it

  • I'm missing your videos. Hope to see another update soon.

  • lol..thks but i haven't used grease in 20 years and i've never used petroleum..yuck! don't know what gave u tht idea.. i don't put anything on my scalp. don't like the buildup. and yes u r right. water is great for many.. but ..i'm chermically relaxed and the less manipulation for me the better. please do what works for u:)

  • i have a question...if you don't put anything on your scalp and just condition your hair will your new growth and hair be healthy? your as in everyone in general.

  • I disagree for 2 reasons. First, when you water a plant, you're not watering the leaves, but the soil, so that the water and nutrients can seep into the root. The water is not seeping into your scalp, so it's not the same thing.

Second, your hair is dead, while plants are alive, so the same concepts will not apply.

Nothing you do externally to your hair will make it grow faster. External methods may. however, prevent breakage which will help it reach its full potential.

  • Nice and very true analysis!

  • i think what alot of ppl mean when they say stuff like that is not because they saying what they do to it will make it grow but more so how they take care of it will help prevent breakage so they can get it the desired length they want

  • my hair is the same way right now, I can't manage it

  • girl i do that sink thing too. LOL. i just pour a lot of the conditioner on the sink and it's all good haha.

  • Are you into relaxer streching are you currenty going natural? Just wondering. :D

  • i just stretch all the time. usually 6 months at a time

  • Hey Sylver2..pls check your inbox...left you a pm...thank ya kindly! :)

  • I def feel u with taming ur hair!!! Even with a relaxer, it seemed to take forever to tame my hair!! Now that I am in transition from relaxed to natural, it has been about 10mos and while its been frustrating at times to style it looking cute, I know Im gettin closer to achieving that beautiful natural look :) It looks like we have very similar hair so I found ur detangling tips and products VERY useful!!! Thanks for the video and keep up with ur beutiful natural hair!!!

  • OMG, Please don't comb your hair with such a small comb. use a large tooth comb, that one will cause serious breakage.

  • lol..don't worry..i kno wht im doing. its just the new growth part tht is already detangled and wet. thts how to keep it flat & detangled. tht comb can't even get thru the rest of my hair.

  • You notice that she has thick long healthy looking hair, right? I'd guess she knows what she's doing. :-D

  • lol, ru serious? I'm sure her hair got to where it is based off the fact that she knows what she is doing. Girl you better take notes, lol.

  • @chevon1920 ha. sylver has been doing this for years. Her hair is already detangled. She is just using the fine-toothed comb to smooth before plaiting it and tying it flat. Once it's dry she doesn't touch it for up to 2 wks. Works for her.;.

  • how many boxes of relaxer did u use on your hair when u finally relaxed? usually when i stretch for 6 months, i use 2 boxes lol..

  • girl, where is your wide tooth comb.......lol. pretty hair!

  • have you ever thought about going natural?

  • Hey girl, it looks like my hair texture is the same as yours. I defintely need a relaxer, but I do not not hav healthy hair. (some damage)

  • i find that natural products don't have enough slip to detangle my hair. do you use only natural products? are you going to be relaxing again or are you going natural?

  • wow 11 months , the longest I have gone is 6 months

  • I had the same problem with my hair sucking up grease, moisturizer, etc. It seemed like I was greasing it everyday, so I started doing a hot oil treatment in my hair every time I washed it, which is every two weeks. It has reduced the amount of grease, moisturizer I was putting in my hair. I know it is hard to grow your hair out natural, I have been doing it for about 5 months now.

  • OMG! Your hair is magnificent! I can't BELIEVE you used a FINE TOOTHED comb! Thank you for sharing. I'm gonna try that method of bantu knots on pressed hair that you showed on another vid. Thanks!

  • Do you get a lot of shedding? I'm so ready to get a perm.

  • the normal amount of shedding. i try not to manipulate my hair much.

  • when i first started stretching my hair grew the fastest it ever had. now it feels so strong and healthy

  • Comment removed

  • your a gorgeous woman

  • Thanks for sharing I was wondering if even had the patience to deal with all that hair. Off to look up your regimen.

  • wow i l00ve ur hair!! has it taken u a while 2 get it 2 this length ?

  • thank u:) i was necklength in 2000

  • I can't wait to see another video. Your hair is really long. Amazing.

  • Sylver - where'd you get your scarf? i'm having no luck with scarves. i can't get them to stay tied in the back, so i tie in the front (aunt jemima style) but then my roots get all messy & frizzy! and i cannot find a nice big scarf! ps: thanks for your videos!

  • i get the oversized ones frm the local asian bss. walmart sells some large ones to..thy just don't last as long.

  • what's the point of a relaxer stretch?

  • for me the point of this 1 yr stretch was to give my hair a break frm chemicals for awhile & to see if i can actually make it. i usually stretch every 5-6 months. my hair has been so much healthier since and it gets easier everytime.

  • sylver i'm totally new to this board but your hair is BEAUTIFUL Howlong{SHORT} was it when you started your hair growth regiem? PLEASE PLEASE help

  • lol this is a lot of new growth!!

  • Lol, it would help if i told u the name its called Knot Today from the Kinky Kurly line

  • Kinky Kurly has a leave in conditioner that detangles so well!! The comb will glide right thru. Mixed Chicks also has a deep condtioner that is excellent makes ur hair feel like silk. Beautiful Hair

  • thk u.. but i think my hair may be to coarse for any curly type product.

  • I texlax and there is no way I could glide even a wide tooth comb through my hair. I almost had a heart attack when I saw you with the fine tooth! LOL!

I'm glad that you've decided to do instructional videos!

  • girl u need to change your leave in then..lol

  • Omg you have youtube!!!!!!!!!!!! I just subcribed but let me tell you girl I have been stalking your fotki since 2007 lol . my fotki username is latingirly112484 . Your my inspiration to get long hair. I also have the same hair texture that you have. You have beautiful hair by the way.

  • "i have no life"-lol! i love this video-so informative and you're so sweet!

  • Great videos! Where can I get The Russ conditioner?

  • Beautiful hair, after that time r u not even a little bit tempted to transition? :0) thanks for sharin

  • not even a little bit..sorry..lol

  • Your hair is AWESOME. That's a ton of NG. Nobody and I mean NOBODY should ever have an excuse for relaxing every 4 weeks after this. Thanks for sharing.

  • Damn girl you got a lot of hair. I wish I had your problem. I'm wishin for some new growth. I've only been wihout a perm for a month now but I want your new growth! lol

  • can you do a vid on your hair regimen and all the products you use!

  • Ur so cute, ur voice reminds me of Janet JAckson

  • As you get further and further through with combing your head out of the shower do you notice it gets a bit harder? I do and I solve this by dividing my head into 6 sections and then clipping all the sections individually so they stay wet until im ready to get to them. I find my hair drys and then it gets too hard for me to go through the other spots as easily. Just a suggestion if you find this too.

  • Cool video, Sylver but I only have internal speakers, hard to hear you so next video speak a little louder. Thanks

  • ok...will do:)

  • when you run your hand through your wet hair, do you get ANY breakage at all or have u eliminated breakage with the protein treatements? your hair is really nice and thanks for the video =D

  • Yay!!!! I was happy to see a new vid. Thank you. It's more descriptive and now I get it. I still love your fotki.

  • Girl, you already know I'm a huge fan!!! I already visit you fotki several times a day. It really helps me to visualize my goal but also to be able to deal with stretching. Because of you I have been able to stretch for 4 months (that's saying a lot). Thank you soooooo much!!!!

  • i like your eyebrows! i made a comment before about the stretching being a bit extreme and you and the girls took it badly. it wasn't to be spiteful i was trying to understand sorry if it came out wrong. i tried to transition and had to quit after 3 months because i was losing too much hair and taking up too much time to care of. goodluck with the stretch

  • Your hair is so pretty!! I am right behind you in month 10 of transitioning to natural. I am APL, not big chopping.

  • Great tutorial and also very beneficial to transitioners. Shalom

  • Your hair is so beautiful. I can't believe it's been 11 months already!! My hair drinks up products also.

  • Looking good! Great tutorial and video.

  • amazing!

  • I don't feel alone anymore LOL. It really takes a certain type of patience to deal with that much hair and that much newgrowth. Ur the best!!

  • How do you know when you need the Hard Protein Treatments?

  • its recommended if u use a lot of direct heat or even b4 your touchups. it strengthens your hair to prevent breakage.

  • *woot* Another video!

    Luv ur hair

  • Do you use protein treatments? Could stretching techniques apply to transitioning?

  • yes..i use aphogee every 5 months and keraphix after each touchup. Stretching is definately applied to transitioning b4doing that big chop. u r grwin your relaxer out. hav to learn how to deal w/ 2 totally diff textures. relaxed/natural.

  • Now you know I had to clutch the pearls when I saw you hold up that fine-toothed comb, LOL! Congrats on the stretch :)

  • Sylver, you're not only my inspiration because of your beautiful hair, but also because of this amazing stretch. I soooooooooooo envy your ability to stretch for so long :)

  • I love your personality, you are so funny!! I bet your stylists' eyes get HUGE when you walk in the door for a touchup, lol!!

  • Wow I'm amazed at how easily the comb goes through your hair. Now that I'm texlaxed it is so hard to comb through my hair when wet. That's one thing I miss about having bone straight relaxed hair - easy to comb out. I'm thinking I need to use more leave in conditioner though. Thanks for the vid!

  • extreme for who? my hair got damaged so i wanted to leave the relaxers alone for awhile. i also wanted 2 see if i could actually do it. i use to get touchups every 4 weeks.

  • omg omg omg omg omg omg omggggggggg u came back (:

  • Yea! I've been following your fotki, so it's nice to see you in video form!

  • Great video, i think the audio is a little low though but maybe its just my crappy laptop speakers that are at fault.

  • Girrrrl you got that thang down to a science! I can't wait for your t-up results. Off to watch part 2... Wait a minut hold up, I see you gettin' a cut too, U mean trim right, LOL, how much we talking bout cutting Sylver?

  • lol..yeh a cut. about 3 inches. i haven't been real nice to my ends lately.
