@xProfeshCamperx You completely miss the point. In science, math is not just some mechanical procedure you go through. You cannot justify better answers than your measuring tools allow. This is why they spend the big bucks to get the best precision possible...that extra sig fig can make all the difference in an engineering project. Your examples are correct, but no scientist would use an instrument with so little precision.
OMG...haha i started cracking up when I saw this, lol, but now im glad i saw it. I made a huge, "OHHHHH." at 1:11 lol. THANK YOU SO MUCH OMG YOU ROCK! And ur english voice? it sounded like he had one, or maybe it was just really weird. idk. thanks.
I Love this video. The beat helps me remember! I understand all the "zero" rules about sig fig. But I'm having a problem with figs that don't have zeros in them. In the example 5.5m x 3.5m I think there are four sig fig, but my book says there are only two. I'm very confused. If there's anyone that can help me, please do.
@MyLifeDocumented No, you don't ADD the sig figs. 5.5 has 2 sig figs. 3.5 also has sig figs. Your answer can't have more sig figs than the measurement with the FEWEST sig figs, so you round your answer off to 2 sig figs. if you had 5.50 X 3.5, then you still round your answer off to two sig figs.
I LOVE this, I can remember this when taking the test. But I'm having a problem and hoping you can help. I understand all the "zero" rules about sig figs. However in the example 5.5 x 3.5 when multiplying I am being told that this example only has 2 total sig figs. I don't understand how this is so. I thought there was a total of 4 sig figs. If anyone can help me, I will give you a dollar. lol

the funniest part is that since August my teacher has been showing us how to properly do sig figs and we could never get it down... i just learned n memorized everything to kno bout them in 2:27. heck yea! thats a record in my book!
I'm a huge chemistry nerd. However, I first found out about your channel and about all those chemistry music videos when my physics teacher showed us this video and the rounding video. After that I became hooked on to your videos. Your videos are amazing and I'm glad my physics teacher showed this video because otherwise I wouldn't have known about your youtube channel in the first place.
wow this actually really helped me thanks a ton I was just studying for y midterm exam this helped so if the number is like 4056.9874 they are all sig figs? what if its like 039024.9 how many are there
@th4Guy77 my teacher will start talking about an equation then move on to some other crap that we dont LEARN YET and then come back to where he was urgh it ticks me off
if its bigger than one and has a decimal point then all of the numbers are sig figs no matter how many zeros there are. For example 24.567000 has 8 sig figs.
The beginning was quite terrible, I was about to click off, then you started singing and I was like okay haha. Good video thanks
