-- 3rd, STAINLESS STEEL PLATES @ 2 to 5 Millimeter spacing and NO MORE than 4/5 the width of your container for self cooling purposes. If you alternate the polarity of the plates you could have a nice stack . Make sure that you paint the outermost plates outside with liquid E-Tape or Rubberized Undercoating and let dry well. This prevents lost and wasted energy on the outside of the electrode core. Place the plates in a vertical position with about 1/8 inch out of the solution.
-- 2nd part 2 - After step number 3, when you've placed the plates in pure or filtered water, connect the anode and cathode to a 10 amp car battery charger. Slowly, put the powder in and stir until the charger reads about 15-20% charged. Once there, you're ready to go.
-- 2nd part one, get three or more boxes of Arm& Hammer and bake it @ (No More Than)300 degrees for about 15-20 min's to make Laundry Soda which will be your electrolyte as well as reduce foam and sludge, (NOTE, if you dry it too much the powder will just decompose, so I'd actually go 250@10min).
Can you elaborate on how you will be getting energy from electrolysis of water? All you are really doing is separating and combining atoms, you will most likely lose energy trying to convert it.
salt as your catalyst, for this produces Chlorine gas when electrolosis is taking place which is poisonous. please don't duplicate this indoors as whatever teensy tiny amounts of hydrogen that are produced will elevate themselves and collect in a teensy tiny pool on your ceiling. Experiment long enough and a teensy tiny spark could set an accumulated pool off in a very hot hydrogen fire. These comments are not in anyway meant to be a deterrent from experimenting, Good Luck!!!
I added a few drops of dish soap to prevent the accumulation of sludges. Also, at 12-15 Volts, you should oscillate the positive at 8(k)Hz? or so from what I've read ( haven't got that far, either ).
Well i think that you know if you put fire in the other end it will burn, it's because you're creating HHO gas or Hidrogen and oxigen, hidrogen is inflammable so you can make some kind of blow-torch or something :)
Try using a higher grade of stainless steal 304 or better 316 you wont see the sludge form so quickly. If you are just using metal found around the house the metal brakes down more quickly then stainless steal.
ONLY 100% high quality stainless steel inside the "reactor": ANY metal inside which is not SS will Oxidize and rust. Tap water usually contains lot of metals and chlorine: try leaving water in open flasks for some days (1-2 weeks) to let chlorine evaporate and metals fall to the bottom, then suck water out with a hose, without shaking it too much and avoiding to suck the bottom. My father did so for his aquarium and he always acheived great clear water.

-- 1st, disregard the dish soap... May be a good idea for some app's but not to make fuel.

H2O + ClNa + energy -> H2 + O + CL + NaOH + Heat

Should this guy be smoking around hydrogen??? Electrolisis seperates the hydrogen from the oxygen in water, erm BANG!!!

:P I'm the type of person that smokes while cleaning a carborator in Diesel Fuel. I even use the diesel fuel as an ash tray. :P

Nice sludge generator though.. rsrs

if you use dilute citric acid instead of salt it tends to make less sludge

What I was using in this vid was 18gauge Weld steel sheets from Lowes. I'm considering building a new one with aluminum plates.

Use sodium hydroxide as your electrolyte and stainless steel as electrode....you can get stainless tubing from a muffler shop.

You've inspired me to create my own, as soon as i finish the next 2 projects i already have lined up :P

cool, but why is the sludge formed?
xMilkman 5 years ago
I don't know for sure, But I think its caused by the hardness of my tap water. our water contains Zinc, Iron, and Lime to name a few.
