I wonder if Montreal Fans will ever get a baseball team again....i know who if they build a 43,000 seat park like Miami did... And if Tampa bay fans will not support Rays then they move to Quebec in canada in 2015! Anyone care tell if any in montreal still wants a MLB team still
@Cheessa What a great place to watch a game, too. Dad & I would sit in the bleachers in Jonesville. Last game at Jarry Park was in 1976 for me. I had moved to Maine in late 1973.
Does anybody know the name of the song being played by the organist in that clip? I remember the organist at the Astrodome used to play that tune after Astros games around 1973 or so. I always thought it was a catchy little song, but never knew the name of it.
The name of the song is "Les Expos Sont La" (The Expos are Here) by Marc Gelinas. It's also referred to as the "Expos Polka". Versions are in both French & English. Click on the right "Expos Parc Jarry" for the French version . I believe the CBC website archives has the Englis version.
@gakski I was wrong about them playing the song at the Astrodome. But I do remember it being played in the background, probably during radio and TV broadcasts between the Astros and Expos. That was back in the early and mid '70s. I grew up an Astros fan in south Louisiana and a lot of my Acadian ancestors came to Louisiana from Quebec in the 1700s. I probably would have grown up an Expos fan going to games at Park Jarry and Olympic Stadium if not for those long ago French/British wars....LOL
In the 70's i was a Die Hard Expos Fan when i was living in Ontario,Canada and i truly do miss the Expos ..
Does anyone have a recording of the Expos theme song on CBC from the 1970's,When the Expos were on CBC TV..
I enjoyed watching Expos Baseball back in the 70's on CBC,It was a shame when they moved this great franchise to Washington ,D.C.it should not have happen..
hhhhhhaaaaa!!! I bought at a garage sale an original 1972 O'Keefe Jacket from the beers sellers at the time.....it's in mint condition...and with this song it all make sense the fashion/the outfit at the time!!!! Cheers!!! Thanks for posting!!!
Brings back so many good memories when I was a young kid sitting in the bleachers. Rusty Staub, Ron Hunt, Ron Fairly, Coco Laboy, John Boccabella.....
That was a time when Montreal was TRULY a sports town. Which is not the case anymore. Montreal is now known as a ONE SPORT TOWN....THE HABS and nothing else!
@fringbenefit The pool was in right field.

I remember the cubs 3rd baseman Carmen Fanzone hit a homer into the pool in left field. A nice little ballpark.

I loved going to Jarry Park with Dad. I lived in St Albans growing up. No better place to watch a ball game.

Montreal needs a real ballpark like Jarry Park with 35-40,000 seats and then they could have another Major League baseball club.
