You know FIAT (as in Italian car company) also has a turbo 1.4 that products 100bhp / ltr and low emissions. You'd image that and it's predigest common rail diesel engines (powerful, clean and economic) would suit the US very well. Lots of torque... They use special combustion chambers to remove NOx and particulates, meeting the latests Euro5 requirements already. You can also run them on BioDiesel.
So it's IMPOSSIBLE to create greener cars is it? That does seem to fly in the face of Europe, which produces considerably more economic vehicles, greener and with the same of even greater performance.
The idea that a car cannot be fast, spacious and economic is embarrassingly dated.
I'm not talking hybrid. Just consider VW latest 1.4 litre engine. Turbo and supercharged. In a Jetta it produces 160bhp and 177 lbs ft. But does 32.8 mpg around town and 51.4mpg highway. Top speed 136 mph.
Yeah lets keep the unions proped up instead!!! They help the economy so much, work very hard and earn pennies with no benefits. Unions are the best thing ever happen to the US.
You can't blame Obama for the creation of a facist state. It started under Reagan, Bush I, accelerated under Clinton and went into hyper drive under Bush II.

In the UK we have had the National Health Service.
There's a hospital in the new recently, that is responsible for 400 deaths. Some of the patients had to drink out of vases and family members slept 24/7 next to loved one, they were so afraid for them. MRSA and CDIFF infections kill 4000 patients a year.
Not one case of infection has happened in any BUPA private hospital.
i saw the salary charts the other day,, Toyota techs in the US plants get like 50k wich is alright... GM's get 80k and other advantages they have only themselves to blame really....
Let's not forget that it was Bush who bailed out the failed private financial institutions due to not having deregulation on his watch - THAT'S SOCIALISM. Then a new President stepping in inherits the colossal mess made by a President who was incompetent - the failed economy effected the auto industry. It's their trickle down effect which has proven to fail time and time again. Americans need to get their priorities straight and blame those responsible & not Obama, who is trying to clean it up.

everyone was complaining about bailouts and all that crap, now when they dont give the auto industry free taxpayer money, and it is all of a sudden bad? I am glad they arent giving these companies money. They need to fail and be taken over by new management. Hopefully, that new management is not the government.
They're absolutely right. I used to work at a VA Medical Center and that place was operated at the cheapest level. The vets who fought for this country were treated with no respect. ask yourself why the big three allowed themselves to become irrelevant with the onset of their giant humvees and giant trucks that everyone just had to get, a third morgtgage for.Why did they not in fact years ago fix their plants to produce cars that run on compressed air like France has done.Because big oil owns their sorry asses and they didnt want them to do it thats why.
screw the auto industry. If they failed its couse they chose too. What, charging 60 thousand bucks for a vehicle that cost 12 to make and pay the employees wasnt good enough to keep them going? lol. Where did the 300% profit go? I make enough mistakes myself,,, I wont pay for theirs. Piss on them

Chinas announced it intends to expand its car industry by a further 10 pcent this year alone. Theyll move the tooling and plants out there wholesale for a fraction of cents on the dollar. Theyve done this already to a large car manufacturer in the uk, namely Rover cars which had been manufacturing in the uk for about a centuary. They moved all the tools robots and stock under cover of darkness over a weekend. Leveled the site and built a shopping mall. FIGHT EM AMERICA.
It is like the auto industry is the only union. What about the carpenters, painters, steel workers, I guess I could go on. But why ? I dont know about the rest of you. I just want my job back. If you had a solar water heater & a solar PV & a small Tesnic wind turbine on your house you'd SAVE HUNDREDS of dollars every MONTH! That would put billions back in ordinary people's pockets instead of oil banksters!
but at the moment what are the governments proposing? New global Taxation on C02 emmissions, now where does that fit into creating renewable energy? How about the introduction of a workforce that basically acts as carbon regulators. That is the main problem, greener technology is ofcourse welcomed and innovation in a free market economy will push towards that idea. however if you listened to the interview what is obama doing right now? restricting the automakers but not the banksters
sure I hear you, but the problem trying to keep a failed car industry going; is its just as mad as trying to keep a failed banking industry going
The fact is the markets have been anything but 'free'
There are cartels that dominate 'energy' or 'pharma' etc. These Industrial Complexes weild huge power over the markets & so innovations are squashed if they 'conflict' with the 'interests' of the cartels.
