  • Does anyone have "Carried Away" from the "Short Stories" album. It's not on I-Tunes and I only have it on 8-track. Really!

  • Love from Slovakia!!

  • great song !!!!

  • SOLID GOLD. Thanks for posting it !!!

  • Great living in Staunton and seeing the Statlers around town. Just regular folk!

  • Back in the 70s, they sang a song about "Fifteen Years Ago." Would you have that song too?

  • Does anyone, remember Woody Robertson, who was one of the Statler's managers, who designed a couple of album covers and especially Road Hog Moran. I heard he was now in the Movies, directing and producing...... i would love to locate him once more....

  • Have seen these four men in concert 2 times--they represent America at it's best. I am glad to have been present when they made great music. I salute you!

  • I love the Statler Brothers they'd be my all time favourites Loved Lew so sorry he had to leave the group and very sad to hear he passed away he was a very special man.

  • Hey I loved Lew he was great and I loved his sound. I was very sad when he left because of health reasons. I think his solo efforts were great . But Jimmy was a great replacement for big shoes to fill. A nice young man with great talent . He blended well with the others and on some songs you do not even notice the diffrence only on the ones Lew was featured. I do believe Jimmys talent writing kept the Statlers hot in the 80s and 90s with some of his claasics . Elizabeth and My only love.

  • @ww7612SEJ And you are so right. That is why there are FIVE Statlers in the Country Hall of Fame. They were both great!

  • I am 38 yrs old, have listened to them since I was a kid. I was with my dad in his pick up when he died, we was listening to a Statler Brothers 8 track.

  • So nice a comment, yet so sad to know your dad died. God Bless.

  • i love the statler brothers. my dad used to play it for me n my siblings when we were younger. brings back memories<333

  • of all the Stat hits this one of two that

i felt was written for me. i don't write

music, but i have a book of poems at

home that were written primaraly about

    others.

  • Ok oldermusiclover, I'll bite. What's the other Statler hit you feel was written for you?

  • Lew gave me chills when he hit those really high notes! Hauntingly beautiful tones. Still loved them, but after Lew left there was just something that could never be replaced, though the new fellow did an outstanding job in his stead! Great group, really fun to watch and fabulous to hear!

  • Lew made an album after he retired. I put most of the songs on UTube. Go check out my videos and l listen. Some are pretty darned good.

  • The words are so clever. Love them anyway, but this one is really neat.

  • Lew DeWitt was awesome. A great tenor.

  • No better tenor than Lew DeWitt and he was a fine fellow, too. Had the pleasure of meeting him when he briefly struck out on his own. He had at least one album which was, I believe, titled, "On My Own." Beautiful songs on that tape.

  • Lew died Aug. 15,1990

  • ok for id purposes, the slender gentleman on back left is Phil Balsley,Next ot him Don Reid the lead singer The late great Lew Dewitt is left forefront and yes he did pass away from Chrons in August 89. He sang amazing tenor. THe last gentlemanis Harold Reid and he is the comedian of the group. Came up with ROADHOG and some of the funniest on stage routines ever. i was raised on Statler music and it is fantastic.

BIG Lew DeWitt fan!! He was the best

  • While Lew wrote Fowers on the wall and a few other of their best songs.. most of the songwriting was done by Harold and Don Reid, and many written by their kids Wil , Langdon and Kim Ried... check out the Group "Grandstaff" Harold and Don's Sons...unbelievible resembance in looks and voice.. a great group

  • Wasn't that him singing with the group?

  • thanks for the song.

I bet this is a great tribute to Lew Dewitt

    we still miss him.

  • im really wanting to know and im not trying to be disrespectful but who is lew dewitt and what part did he sing was he the bass?

  • Lew is the guy who wears glasses and usually stands on the far right (of screen)He sings tenor. also plays the guitar. He got sick in early 80's (1982) and had to leave the band and died in 89.(Crohn disease). I think he wrote most of their famous songs (like Flowers on the Wall) . The guy singing the Bass is one of the Reid brothers standing on the far left.

  • btw, the guy on the bottom left is Lew Dewitt in this picture.

  • thanks :)

  • Great song. One of my favorites.

  • you're my hero. I've been looking for this song on youtube for a year

  • Thanks!

  • i love this song!!!!

  • thank you!!!
