  • Where is Kenta now ???

  • 6:58 Ma Lin never gives up...

  • Kenta has a beautiful backhand.

  • one of the best tt matches uve ever seen! :O

  • 馬琳最高!!

  • aaahh so intense, but aww man i was really rooting for Kenta but deep down i knew Ma lin would win lol

  • 4:11

  • Matsudaira's strategy was simple. He attacked Ma Lin's backhand since he doesn't have a consistent reverse penhold. Then he suddenly switched to his forehand to have Ma Lin go running. But at the end, Ma Lin's skills and experience proved to be better than Matsudaira's. Great match. :D

  • Oh... My... God...This is really incredible. Some points are fantastic, ET are there.

  • men, that point on 3/3 9-7 keeps giving me the chills everytime I watch it

  • 3:22 fuck this rally ima catch the ball

  • what a spectacular game.. made me stay awake

  • You know you're in the zone when you do this: 2:03.

  • 7:53 FTW !!!

  • This is crazy

  • Interesting strategy from Matsudaira Kenta. Would not work at all against Wang Hao though, would it, with his insane rpb. It's rare to find a pen holder of Ma Lin's caliber to be this vulnerable to attacks to his backhand and concomitant opening up of his far forehand side. Well done by Matsudaira, even if it wasn't quite enough.

  • What a battle. One of the best matches i've ever seen.

  • I sometimes here Ma Lin shouting "Got it" when he earns a point. His shouting English?

  • @SKrawks No its 'Tjoh-lay" , I thought it means come on in English.

  • That was so intense, at the start of the final game I was thinking WOAH! Kenta Matsudaira is a beast, he's got this, and then you remember Ma Lin's fucking mental and just turns it up a few notches in the last dozen points. One of the best matches I've ever seen.

  • Japanes players are mostly materialplayer.

  • Hey his was pretty close..

  • Great Match! Like Kenta.

  • fuck kenta matsudaira,,he is playing block and block",,i no like it,,

  • He almost hit the ground with his ass every time he serve, bizzare :D

  • @MrZagubica That is the standard technique for the tomahawk serve.

  • Not to get off topic, but does anyone know what brand of table they are playing on? It sounds extremely hollow every time a ball lands.

  • @genemarinacci that could be due to the sound quality of the video? seen some other yokohama 2009 videos that have more normal sound

  • What a match. Good fight from Ma Lin. Great match!!

  • ебать рубня была пацан красава рубился до последнего

  • ooh! poor ball! she must be so hurt! -.-

    AWESOME GAME!

  • that serve has to be a pain. 4 different angles, 8 combinations of spin from the same starting position

  • This guy Matsudaira is from a samurai clan. That is where he gets his fighting spirit. Too bad he was no match for Boll at the 2011 WTTC.

  • @gabraham12 Interesting! I like little facts like this! Must admit he is a tiny man! Ma Lin is one of the smallest in the China team and he's much bigger! Matsudaira must be about 5' 3"!

  • @gabraham12 Boll played his brother Kenji, not Kenta at the 2011 WTTC. Kenta is better...

  • I like the underspin block or what I don't know ~ from kenta. Now he don't use that already. why? thats very useful you know~

  • One of the best game I have ever seen.

  • I think Kenta's serve is a superb innovation. Every time I play against someone using the Tomahawk serve so long as you can read the banana movement it it actually easy to flick back. Kenta's got it so that he can banana to either side.

  • @hkjkdsifu I totally agree with you kenta's service, is a complex service full of differents effects at the same time... you que see the side spin, the bak spin .. and sometimes the topspin in the service ... I wouldn't like to play agains him!!!! Lol !

  • Matsudaira won more points. :(

  • THAT WAS NICE !!!

  • I like ma lin's Flicks! :)

  • the japanese's serve looks ugly =_+

  • OMG!! Kenta plays so damn beautiful! I love to see him play!

  • Kentas backhand better than his forehand?

  • @MrPawany yea. kenta isn't a blocker either. modern technique in japan teaches shorter compact strokes. kenta was trained in this way so he takes the ball early off the bounce.

furthermore, the japanese emphasize usage of the backhand as a primary counter.

if you watch JTTA, a bunch of em play similarly. there's this guy who was in the finals of a jp national open recently who beat ma long 4-0.

  • shit!!!!! 4:36

  • Who the hell cares what country produces the best players ??!!! This was a game between 2 world class players which we all enjoy tremendously, that's IT ! The rest is bullshit, and by the way, as I am typing this, Timo Boll is #1 in the world, not anyone else from China or wherever else./ Peace to all

  • @farofir Yeah! Thanks to the lingering injury on Ma Long. At any given day he's 100% healthy, Ma Long will defeat Timo astoundingly. As such, Timo Boll deserves to be #1 now. But to retain national pride, Timo's fellowmen of younger generation has to step up and keep their banner fluttering, as what you can say of China's.

  • that final blow of Ma lin, where you just can feel that kenta is never gonna block that, gives me the freakin chills on my back everytime I watch it

  • 5 all-out backhands in a row...so rare. I love how at 8:11 ma lin's scream blends with the crowd

  • on 7:05 ma lin ran 3 or 3.5 meter in less that second... He is a total psyho :)))

  • Shit, Matsudaira could have won this match if he hadent lost

  • the rally at 3:23

He simply just catches the ball.. wow

  • Hardest game Ma Lin ever had ^^

Best game Kenta ever played xD

  • by far the best table tennis match i have seen

  • 健太も凄いけど、マリンの運動量が凄すぎる。こういうの見ると、やっぱりシェイク有利かなー

  • Its interesting kenta acutally beat ma long in point count (69 - 66) but ma lin wins because of the game system.

  • @AragonAgapao Actually the point count was 72-70 Kenta, but its not to big of a deal

  • @AragonAgapao But that also shows the mental toughness of Ma Lin, does it. He makes the points that count the most under the most stressful circumstances. That's a sign of a true champion.

  • oh it was china vs japan.basically it was asian vs asian so it will be one heck of a match

  • simply amazing, kenta made a good run, but ma lin was the better player

  • damn what a great match!!!

  • oh my god. that was fucking intense!

  • in my opinion ma lin was very mentally weak in this game. he was up 3-1 and then choked, and it became 3-3. ma lin does have a bad mental game in the wttc. look in 2007, he was winning 3-1, 7-1 and ended up losing 3-4 11-8. ma lin is an extrodinary player no doubt, but his cockiness and weak mental game(especially when hes leading the game) cost him many unforced errors, and allowing kenta to go to 7 games with him. if ma lin played strong throughout the hwoke match it would have been 4-0 ma lin

  • Kenta is so talented, to get so close to beating a legend. At the end though, that is why the Chinese are really the best, it's the ability to force a win on several points in a row, sort of an overdrive/kill mode.

  • 初生牛犊不畏虎

  • Kenta played a very amazing game against Ma Lin. I love this match and the amazing point at 7:53 !!! :)

  • impressive chinks

  • I wonder why Kenta is 67 in the World Ranking now, he looks an incredible player!

  • Impressive match!

  • its kind of stupid cos ma lin is such an old guy and that jap is so young

  • does any1 have this match in HD?????????? I would pay good money to get this on dvd with good quality!!!

  • if kenta can improve his slicing block and use it more often....I think many attackers would be afraid of him... :D

  • he has a motorleg

  • why didnt he get the point in 4:24 the rolled over the net ?

  • @mrisaaki it hit the table first....

  • What a great game from Kenta I congratulate you, but in the end the experience and mental fortitude than skill and youth: D greetings

  • probably the best match kenta ever had

    he just played AMANZINGLY

  • se cago todo malin!!!!

  • if ma il could handle that ball at 3:42 it would generate really good spin!!! =)

  • he is unbelievable! i saw Kenta four years ago in Poland - he played in polish Pro Tour and actually he looked likes champion! good luck Kenta :)

  • this Matsudaira guy is awesome

  • 2:12 quick reflexes

  • 7:55-8:11 ------------------> holy *beeeeep*

  • The person going "YEAHHH!!!!!" got really annoying

  • Best match of Kentas life,No Doubt Niggas!

  • 3:42 nice shot

  • its harder for penholders to attack well on the backhand

  • why does the fucking camera always switch scenes right when kenta serves. that is the only fucking way to do it so you can't see his serve.

  • muchas gracias

  • all I can say is three letters;" W O W "

  • il va progresser ce pti kenta :D ! je trouve kil remet déja super bien les services de ma lin (considéré comme le meilleur serveur du monde

  • While Kenta never developed due to lack of power and sub-par forehand even in Europe, I still think his style of variety of counters and close to the table blocks, like an evolution of Oh's style, is the future of opposing the Chinese. Here Ma Lin just kept feeding balls to his backhand and make it needlessly close.

  • @Opalance ma lin's looping is just particularly weak in terms of power. ever since the 40 mm ball, it is very hard for a penhold player to get enough power. so it's not ma lin in particular.

  • @J0kerofHearts Seriously? Penholders find it hard to get enough power? Ryu won the 2004 olympics penholder, Ma Lin won the 2008 olympics penholder, Wang Hao won the 2009 world championships and he's a penholder. #3, #4, and #7 in the world currently are all penholders.

  • the most beautiful match i have never seen. Both play very very good. A high level of game. Congratulations!!!!

  • C'est un match splendide, des geste et des échanges à vous coupez le souffle.

La perfection du jeu des deux joueurs est incroyable. C'est MAGNIFIQUE.

THE BOSS KENTA / THE BOSS MA LIN.

  • @titiumtiti888

Tout à fait raison, un match merveilleux. Vive le tennis de table :p

  • This match is so great in many ways.

Of course the skills of both players are amazing, Kenta transcends his own capabilities.

But dont forget the pressure on Ma Lin, he just became the Olympic champion and this battle between Japan and China is fought in Japan.

That this match goes to 3-3 and even 10-9 in the last game is a feast for everyone who loves this game.

  • Que tal partidazooo!!!

  • Best match in Moscou.

  • Absolut best match in Moscou.

  • @schafflos Wrong tournament...this was last year's singles championships...

  • I love. Kenta Matsudaira is lucky.

  • kenta has a great serve!

  • Ranking 2 vs 101

    That's is funny

  • @mrcalm76

2nd or 101st it doesnt make any difference:)

what a fight, what a speed.

  • that was a rally!..wow!

  • Was this the final or something?

  • @MrKevinliu

it was the round of 16.

  • best backhand block game ever...

  • @bombersonxxx__Like the 2nd coming of Waldner! :) Let's hope! :)

  • wow amazing!!

zeker de laatste rally,s in game7

  • Insane match!! The last set is completely fantasy TT!

  • I would love to see Kenta Matsudaira agains Jan Ove Waldner. That would be the best game of table tennis in the history of the sport.

  • rofl

  • It is fun to see the Chinese a little unsettled! Kenta certainly played a game of chess here with Ma Lin! I only wished he had won, are we seeing a resurgent Japanese presence in table tennis?

  • 7:54 is the best!!

  • Just read the comments, looks like I am gonna enjoy this one

  • 6:06 such an impressive point, kenta controlling ma lin with aggressive block successfully leading to winning the point

  • I think this is the best TT match I've ever witnessed

  • 7:47 !!

  • thighs burning yet?

  • i think kenta played better in this game. incredible defense and outstanding attack! good job Kenta.

  • increible nivel, gracias por el video.

  • That's a pretty funky serve kenta has

  • both played very well, good stuff. i like kenta's block style too.

  • buddy...thats quite effective too trick people...and heavy underspin too...

  • nice upload..

  • 7:26 is most impressive shot. How many players would have assumed they hit a winner there? Kenta knew it was coming back and was ready!

  • ma lin's game comes down to forcing his first return to be a forehand then slaming back to his back hand....his back hand is weaker

  • There were lucky I was not playing !

  • Ma lin changed his service at the end .

But I think that Kenta Matsudaira is a genius

  • the most vital points are the 8-7 and 9-7 Ma Lin got in the last match. huge inside-out diagonal shots.

  • That's why the "but"

  • Grande MaLin!!!

  • ma did not kill him, he just had that little bit more experience in the big situations was able to keep his head a little bit better

  • 8:10 Kenta must been thought "WHY THE FUCK DID I USE MY BH INSTEAD MY FOREHAND?!"

Kenta played awesome, but Ma killed him anyways

  • Beating someone by the smallest margin possible in the sport is not "killing" them.

  • wow! awesome match!

  • How does Kenta does those amasing serves?

Look at him play against top players like Ma Lin, Wang Hao...

They often miss his serves, or give it back rly high =/

How does kenta do it xD

  • when he serves, he chops either the left or right side of the ball quickly to confuse his opponents

  • Ma lin is the best

  • kenta's forehand is his obvious weakness.

ya, it's REALLY good, but his backhand's a lot better

  • Close game! wow lol that was rly good

  • matching of play style...? i beat players rated at 2000 back when i was first started but i lost to players at 1000 too. that's more out of my own inexperience, but it just shows if someone has a play style that is dangerous to yours, it would be a tougher match

  • Nice, Ma lin like doing lobbs..haha

  • Obviously Kenta enjoyed an extraordinary match going this way against the top Chinese player. However, it was Ma Lin's great mental toughness that successfully got him through the adversity and that made him a champion head and shoulder above the TT crowd including Kenta. That is, peak performance under pressure! ☆☆☆☆☆

  • @tyoungos Ma Lin is too experienced for Kenta to win against, but Kenta plays a style unlike any other player in the world, which Ma Lin was not really confident with, and, evidently, had trouble playing against.

  • @tyoungos I'll agree that China has created a near perfect blocker in Zhang Jike, but Zhang is just that: A wall. I would argue that Kenta is arguably as talented but doesn't have the same rigorous training against the same caliber of player as Zhang.

I would say that Zhang is to Kenta as Kong was to Waldner. It's a rather classic contrast between creative play making and robotic execution.

  • @BicolBandit You can't compare Kenta to Waldner, the Waldner I know was far more aggressive. Kenta mainly blocks for like 70% of his game; Waldner and Kong did no such thing and neither does Zhang

  • @BicolBandit Dude, be more objective. They do not belong to the same class or caliber.

  • @BicolBandit lol zhang jike isn't a blocker at all...

  • @BicolBandit you`re right :)

  • @BicolBandit I dont think its appropriate to compare Kenta to Waldner, one is an all time great, one is a player on the rise that hasnt won any major titles yet. I also think that theres always this misconception about Chinese players and their rigorous training and robotic execution. It is true that they train very very hard, but I am sure the Koreans and the Japanese train equally hard, and when it comes down to creativity, I can't think of anyone more creative than Ma lin and Liu Guoliang.

  • @wilzzman well i would hav to say modern table tennis is different to the classic, also, bear in mind that at the this time kenta was only 18. i dont think waldner was this good when he was 18. he was one of the world's greatest BACK THEN. Table tennis gets harder every day.

  • @broro100 Waldner was vice-champion of Europe in under 17...

  • @ThePepito35 yes he's good, but as i said, it was BACK THEN, and kenta is the world junior champion NOW where there's a lot more competition

  • @tyoungos

lol, how can u say that? U talking like Kenta is an ol timer soon to be replaced by other youngstas. dude, Kenta is 3 years younger than Zhang Jike, he still has "more time" to improve. lol

  • @tyoungos It is true Zhang Jike can take down both of them. But never easily.

  • @tyoungos It is true Zhang Jike can take down both of them. But never easily.

  • @tyoungos tyoungos dont talk shit. ma lin is wr 4th, not easily taken down by zhang

  • excellent !!!

  • Killer Block Backhand by Kenta......The fastest table tennis i've ever seen...... Incredible....

  • 8:09 inexperience. Ma lin took advantage of it

  • 3:42, excelent

  • best match ive ever seen

  • égua do jogão

  • amazing game!!!

  • Lol durex Rubber.

  • Loved to see Kenta winning here

  • best table tennis match ever
