I own PowerDirector 6.0 ... I don't upgrade for the simple fact that the product is not user friendly. To make matters worse, the company provides poor documentation and irrelevant tutorials. It's a stretch to simply "cut" commercials from a captured video. It would be helpful if Cyberlink provided "step-by-step", fundamental doc.

sony vegas gives alot of freedom for the professional type but it has a huge problem with loading playing videos correctly.. try something else

i think power director 8 is better cuz Sony Vegas pro 9 is so difficult to understand

Sony Vegas Pro has some advanced features not found in PD, and some decently nice filters and effects. However, for projects that don't need that functionality, I can find my way around PD twice as fast.

Codecs are another issue. I record a lot of my video in the CamStudio codec (even when not using CamStudio), and Sony refuses to work with it. PD imports it without any trouble.

yes you can. add the video clip you want to be the small box into the pip object section. Then it will pop up on your video playing screen and you can resize and replace it around your video
