Hey kids, try Uncle O'Grimacy's house special shake with a shot of J & B, just don't tell your parents. There's Billy in the crawl-tube spewing green vomit like Linda Blair. It's probably just a bad burger, have another shamrock shake Billy, on the house.
i collect mcdonalds stuff and know all about it i knew they cancled it but the day my mom brought one home i screamed tryed it and it was the best day of my life
I remember seeing this commercial and begging my dad to get me one. He would always come home with either a chocolate or vanilla shake for me. Year after year from mid February-March, I was denied the opportunity to join in all the St. Patrick's day festivities at McDonalds. Finally, in 2003, my husband brought one home for me. Needless to say, that is probably what lead to my divorce. That was the worst shake I ever had. I waited all those years for that???!!!
I remember this commercial from the 70s as well. I was just a little kid, and we were poor and couldnt afford to eat out. So a trip to McDonalds was a very rare treat. When they came out with the shamrock shake to commemorate St. Patricks Day ("Limited Time Only"), somehow I managed to get one, and I liked it. And looked forward to next year when they would begin to sell the shamrock shake again. After only a few years the McDonalds locally near me stopped selling them. (low sales I guess)
I remember this commercial--and Shamrock Shakes--very well. What a way to push the country further and further into the obesity quagmire we're in now: combining cute childrens' costumes, bucketloads of sugar and ice cream, artificial green mint flavor, brain freeze, and tons of fat calories that remained in our bodies until 2002. All you need to go with that is a McRib and an apple pie, and voila--the McSh*t Meal! Sam Kinison was right, I just love how McD's uses us as guinea pigs...

R.I.P. Seamus O'Grimacy was one of the great twentieth-century Irish poets. He will surely be missed.

I dyed my head hair and facial hair green on St. Patty's day back in 2006...I would have loved walking into Mickey D's for a Shamrock Shake.
