  • why is the resolution limited? anyway to run this on 1080p??

  • I have the ASUS M4A89GTD Pro motherboard and I cant turn the express gate on it enabled in bios but at boot it only says starting express gate then I see the full screen image i try diferent keys but it continues to windows 7

  • i find it usless software for 10 more second i can boot into my OS and use everything.

  • is there a way to download games on express gate and play them there

  • Just an FYI. If you want a fast bootup like this you can NOW using xpud. Boots in 3,5 seconds here on 1.6Ghz CPU, 2Gb DDR2 with a single SATA HDD. Sweetness

  • how do you go into EG on a desktop?? do you hit an F key when it's booting or something?

  • Can you print while in splashtop? This would be great for jumping on a computer, loading up Google maps, and printing. Can't tell you how often I'm already late going somewhere, walking to the car, and realize I need a map!

  • I really don't think I'll be using it is it easy to delete? I'm thinking of buying an asus laptop soon and it's pre intsalled.

  • No it's installed into the BIOS, you still have Windows just like normal but you can choose to use this to save time.

It's not a whole operating system.

  • it's not in the BIOS itself.

    It's on a mini-ssd chip on the Mobo. :)

  • You know what I mean. =D

  • @1HeartnSoul : it has its own chip on the motherboard, so you can't uninstall it. Asus computers are really good though.

  • @1HeartnSoul why would you delete it it doesnt go on your Hard drive so it doesnt take any room

  • Thanks, now I know that.

  • It's a mini Linux OS, you might use it once in a while.

But you don't delete it, it's on a Mini SSD, built onto the Motherboard.

You disable ExrpessGate in the BIOS.

    It's not exactly like it's - "Pre-Installed".

  • @1HeartnSoul are you sure you understand

  • ASUS ExpressGate is awesome. An i7 CPU will get you whizzing through these applications in expressgate much faster than what you see here.

    No SSD required.

  • This is smart and clever as it gives a defence against a virus attack as it will allow net access , shame we did not have this at the time of blaster

  • nope you cannot "install" it as it is hardware based, and is physically on the motherboard like a small flash drive

  • How do you activate it? what button do you press on a desktop? I have it on my Asus N10 netbook and looking to get it for my desktop build.

  • it has to be an asus motherboard which has it, and you switch it on via BIOS

  • can i install it on an older Asus motherboard?

  • Well for one, Your personal computer is not that personal whit Express Gate. What I mean by that is that some of your documents can be access by EG. So if you have alot of sneaky people in your family, school or work,is not a good idea.

  • How Asus notebooks are rated in terms of quality comparing to HP or Dell in the western countries?

  • One question.

I have an p5q motherboard, and I have vista as an OS, can i choose witch one too start or will it start by it self?

    Can anyone explain?

  • if u install Express Gate ull still chose which one to start. for example when u boot the first thing that will pop up is that white screen that says if u want to enter the Express Gate thing, but also there is a little button there that u cant see here that says continue to OS or even if u dont press anything after 5 sec it will continue with the normal boot up program so its pretty simple, If u install it u wont have any problems, i installed mine yesterday and its great, hope this helped

  • Hey, can you uninstall Express Gate if you don't want it?

  • sure

  • How and where you can unistall it :O `?

  • Forgot i got it

  • mkay xD

  • Is it just the ASUS boards that allow this?

  • yeah

  • OMG :( it doesnt work over wireless :( thats soo not fair thats wirelessism

  • So I guess if I run Linux I am S.O.L as far as express gate goes.

I have to have Windows installed?

Thank you, Micro$oft. You make everything possible...as long as there is money in it for you.

Oh, and Vista sucks! One of the worst products ever made.

The only good MS OS is one I get from bit torrent. HEHEHEHEHE!!!>:/

  • ur comp is loud

  • so,as computer technician which take responsibility for internet affair on my office,it just for 8 hours,so after the office hour,im using it at my home.that's why i need to set it up as dial up connection. For now,im using Asus P5Q.

  • i got 2 ISP account, one is for personal(limited for 10 hours) and one is for office using(unlimited). My internet connection is look like interchangable right.. :) i didn't set it as PPPOE as intention to avoid any fraud using.

  • Can you modify anything on the harddrive?

Say for example if you save a password in firefox, or download a torrent file to download later?

  • can it working with dial up connection??

    can't right?

  • Nah. As it was said in the video, it must be a connection thru the LAN port. or you could use an external modem - but who uses dialup anyway O_o?

  • Express Gate is a Linux Based Operating System on a solid state drive on the motherboard.

  • Not even close!! It installs on your actual HARD DRIVE foo!

  • Really? I've seen several websites which says it's installed on a flash drive built into the motherboard

  • Dare you to delete the ASUS.SYS and ASUS.000 folders on your boot HDD :)

  • It depends on the motherboard i think.

The asus p5q deluxe have an flash drive. but p5q, p5q-e dosent. I've just read this

  • Express Gate IS an OS...

    It's just Linux

  • it is linux ubuntu

  • It is not Ubuntu.

  • The problem with this is that dont work with RAID.

  • man tht comp is noisy good explain

  • Express Gate only has a Vista or Windows XP installer. So if you wan't this "instant on" lightweight GNU/Linux environment, you have to have Windows first. This is beyond the pale.

It seems that in this industry the consumer will pay the Microsoft tax no matter what.

Amazing how a vendor found a way to offer GNU/Linux of some form while still prostituting itself to Microsoft.

Asus Express Gate should be renamed Anus Express Rape.

  • are you mad mr.keruaran??

  • Mad as in angry ? Yes. Its a disgrace. You don't put up with this sort of monopolistic market distortion, you haul people in you court and make them pay.

Mad as in insane ? If you don't see a problem here I would ask you the same question. Or perhaps you're from the cult of Redmond who, if they had their way, all GNU/Linux users would have to pay at tax to Microsoft for the privilege of NOT having Windows on their computer.

    So, are you mad ?

  • i have no clue what or where the3870 x2 is, sorry bro

  • so you caught the subliminal message? haha. It was for the maxishine 3870x2 giveaway.

  • haha, gotcha, p5q e kicks ass by the way, im picking mine up tomorrow

  • looks amazing man, im going to suscribe.
