When Halliburton, Lockheed, and others cheated the government out of billions, the GOP sat silent and continues today to give them contracts... of course they don't help blacks to vote.

A lot of the racism stuff comes from the simple fact that much of the country (Alaska, for instance) is not integrated. A lot more of it boils down to Urban vs Small Town America -- which is not to say that everyone in a small town is a racist! It just helps a lot to live and work with people of different elasticities and race.

Are you sure it's racism? To me it comes off as paranoid hysteria. I know for a fact that some people hate Obama simply for his heritage, but I'm doubtful that that is a primary concern. To me it seems like trumped up charges. From what I've seen of the tea-partyers, the "he's a terrorist" crowd is much smaller than the "he's an orwellian menace" crowd.

Well I never was a fan of them anyway. Most of them are economically illiterate. There are people, like you said, who aren't(racist or stupid), but yeah, this seems like a passing fad. McCain's campaign was in a ditch before he picked her and got her to pull him out. Her biggest problem was that she was in no way prepared to run for higher office. She hadn't boned up on the issues (the way W did a few years before.) If they had prepped her for a few months they might have given Obama a run for his money.
